Jack and Jill (I) (2011)
Actually good
1 October 2012
I was hesitant at first to see this movie because of its rating in IMDb. but then again, it has not lived up to its rating quite a few times, you know what I'm saying. Some movies that are below 5stars are actually good and fun, and most of the time movies that have higher rating tend to be vulgar and just off. So i guess what i'm saying is don't trust the ratings all the time.

I found this entertaining, as a matter of fact. This is not as painful as Funny People which I have to stop a number of times, muster courage to play it again until I get to the end. I actually bought Sandler as Jill. He isn't annoying, and it wasn't bad acting at all.

If you love Sandler and you are looking for fun flicks to lighten up your mood, watch this.

Limitless (I) (2011)
Didn't like it that much
9 September 2012
Warning: Spoilers
It was all going alright for me until the end part. That's when I decided I didn't like this movie. I think it's too overrated.

A miracle pill turned a man's life 360 degree, and while everyone else who took it were either dead or sick, this one man managed to survive and became superhuman even when he stopped taking it.

The plot was too easy.. and too ridiculous. I was expecting something tragic or an "awakening" part at the end where he stopped taking the pill and he came back to normal, only this time he tried to do even better with his life and realized he could achieve great things even without the help of the pill. That part would have made the whole story more believable, acceptable, and relatable to issues with illegal drugs, cigarettes, alcohol, and other addiction problems that people think make them invincible but didn't know it was ruining them.

This part kind of ruined the whole movie for me and made me regret watching its entirety.

Freaky Friday (2003)
Another Disney magic
11 June 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I watched this flick because it's Disney, and it's Lohan. I haven't watched the first one so i won't be able to compare it. I think this one has its own credits though.

At first, I didn't see anything special. It was all the typical mom-daughter catfights. A daughter rebels because her mom's getting married again and had totally forgotten her first husband. Furthermore, the mom doesn't try to understand her kids. And of course, the brother-sister brawl. The only thing that looked cool was Lohan playing the lead guitar in her band at their garage.

But everything got exciting when the transformation came about. I think both Curtis and Lohan did a pretty good job. Curtis was exceptionally hilarious. She made it all fun to watch. I think the highlight of this movie was the one when Curtis played the guitar on the band audition. I had goosebumps; and was a little misty-eyed. I also liked the part where Curtis was supposed to postpone the wedding. That was one big emotional scene for me.

Then there's the Chinese vudu assimilation in the story which I think is cool. I think its unconventional (the cookie thing, the mother prying over others' business and the daughter being mutinous about i). It personally makes it interesting.

I say this is definitely one of Disney's magic. One that is fun, a de-stressor for that matter, brings out the child in you, and one that never misses out givin' lessons, which is important (especially if it is meant to be seen mostly by kids and teens).

Watch, watch, watch!

Warning: Spoilers
Definitely something to watch for if you want a little peace and something to make you appreciate life better.

I watch this movie out of curiosity because my friend posted that she likes it and wants to rewatch it. Well maybe another reason is because Cameron's starring in it.

I thought that Cam is the "my" being referred to in "my sister's keeper" but it was a surprise when i learned that she played the mother. More so, I thought this was another fun, crazy flick just like the one she did with Kutcher. But i was surprised with the 'lil emotional, mature kind of role she's playin'.

Anyways, at first i thought the movie was kind of boring and had the urge to stop it. On second thought, i wasn't even halfway so i decided to give it a chance to further on.

The moment i did, i was entirely hooked. The acting was good -- well at least for some.

I really hated the character of Anna because i thought she was a selfish brat (Breslin's acting was really convincing). But it all change into sympathy and admiration.

The one who played Kate was also very good. During the course of the movie, i mused whether she was really sick in real life and was just hired to do the role. That's how good she was.

Diaz, on the otherhand, did a pretty good job on drama. I was used to her doing the wild stuffs. She proved she can be as versatile as an actress. And oh boy, the one who played taylor was such a cutie. I especially love how a love story was assimilated into this sad kind of flow and how one could not be afraid to die because she knows that somewhere out there she could bump into his love anytime.

On another note, the music added hugely to the dramatic effect. I especially love the one played in the beach. That was my favorite scene. I think that was the highlight of the movie. Spectacular scene!

The narration effect was also good. It showed the different emotions of the characters from the past to the current situation.

This one is definitely a tearjerker. Unlike other books translated into a motion picture, this one had no holes. The story is well related and understandable -- well connected from the beginning to the end.

I'm really surprised that this did not gather more awards. I personally think it deserves more.
