American Nightmare (2024)
Absolutely insane
I want to start by saying I am someone that supports police officers, Vallejo PD is just a sad excuse for officers, and failed in their oath to protect and serve along every step of the way. The whole first two episodes I was just yelling that's confirmation bias! To the tv, glad Denise's lawyer eventually called it out.
They were so focused on their little hunches and trying to get Aaron to confess to a crime he didn't commit, that in that time resources weren't being allocated to actually find Denise, but rather where her body is. And turning off Aaron's phone when he was expecting a call from the kidnapper is absolute negligence; the fact none of the officers got punished after this debacle is insane, and I think they got lucky to have only paid out 2.5 million
As those who have a duty to uphold the law, you're expected to live by the mantra innocent until proven guilty, they did the opposite, and the media went right along with it. After this story I would not feel safe living in Vallejo knowing who's supposed to protect us.
Succession: Connor's Wedding (2023)
An absolute masterclass
Spoilers ahead:
The cast nailed it in this episode, a realistic and believable group of children losing their father that they've been at odds with, and in death they all cope with it in different ways, representing in a certain sense the different stages of loss.
Logan Roy was such a good character that I found myself going through a grief cycle myself in that I kept telling myself that it was all one of Logan's ploys and he was going to ultimately be okay, was in the denial phase the whole time and it wasn't until they showed him coming out of the plane in a body bag that I was in the acceptance stage.
Culikin and snook both deserve Emmy noms for this.
Music Box: Woodstock 99: Peace, Love, and Rage (2021)
Comparing it to Coachella?
The fact that they bring up the fact that it's existence brought about the Coachella music festival, as if that's some sort of silver lining is hilarious. I grew up in Indio, CA, the location of the festival, I've attended the festival over a dozen times, and all the assault allegations happen here as well but don't get reported or get hushed.
Dream/Killer (2015)
Flaws in the American judicial system
As an American we live in a system of fairness, against our fellow man and against the government itself, but do we really?
Justice costs more than the normal person can afford, mostly along such a lengthy trial such as the one shown in this film, and at the end of the day if you encounter a prosecutor trying to make a name for himself in a certain case that works for the state, he doesn't have to worry about the how much it will ultimately cost. More documentaries need to come out about stuff like this allowing huge miscarriages of injustice to exist and expose those like the prosecutor, now judge, of this film
