Death Note - Desu nôto: Light Up the New World (2016)
Medium rare
A sequence of film based from a famous manga is surely expected from fans, so it's understandable that to fill all the hope isn't an easy task for producer. However, this movie seems to be much far from "well done".
First of all, Obata's line is neatly done as all the main characters were nicely designed and beautifully sketched. It is understandable that several actors and actresses are famous and expert the way they are, but I mean there are tons of Japanese who are really good looking; those handsome guys and kawaii girls but then they film some of the skill-too-much-over-appearance folks. The contrast seems to be a little bit too much. Even though some characters are just new, but well, the standard would have been the same.
More over, parts of scripts and directions were not much professional, much like it was for a graveyard slot rather than movie. Part of it was done in the way that I even feel like a gov. organization was insulted somehow.
Finally, can't say much about this, no spoiler here, but did they let Tomino take part of this film or something?
Conclusion; If you enjoyed Death Note manga or anime and don't want to ruin those good feeling, you may consider avoid watching this film.
Heroes Reborn (2015)
Getting worse.
To share the same title as the original Heroes kinda draw fans expectation of the touching moment and those atmosphere of the series. It's not difficult to make audiences satisfy with the story and characters but what a shame that it went down the hill as many main protagonists keep losing their ability or even worse that some of them act like idiots. Not to mention the new one; good smurf turn bad and the whole world is waiting to be saved by the hands of little brats. If Reborn was really got released from fans' reception, it wouldn't give some the feeling like glance the clock and wonder when each episode's gonna end.
Busanhaeng (2016)
Nostalgically new film.
To be super optimistic and forget all what you've seen, this one is not too bad to spend some free time with. However, to focus on deeper details, there're too many shots which remind me of some Hollywood's famous films.
1. Fast zombies remind me of Dawn of the Dead. 2. Horde of zombies popped out of glasses or holes like cluster of insects, then may or may not piled up remind me of World War Z 3. Using tape as for arms protection remind of me The Walking Dead. 4. Pack of zombies knit/ bridge themselves to the train reminds me of World War Z, although it'snot wall. 5. The stupid villain live through nearly the end, some of his actions remind me of those few characters from Night of the Living Dead. 6. The main protagonist has finally sacrificed himself to safe others reminds me of Dawn of the Dead, once again.
It is readily apparent that some group of people in some country always have "inspiration" after others' works. If you love the original, support the artists.
