Cursed (2020)
Trash.
The show is poorly acted, directed and edited. It's like the show can't decide if it's a teenage romance drama or a serious fantasy. The show takes absolutely nothing from the ancient stories we all know and love about Arthur, his knights and the quest for the grail other than the names of those famous characters. This show rips away everything you know and love about Excalibur and the true story of the Lady of the Lake as well and turns it into a weak story about female empowerment and diversity. I also have problems with technical aspects of the series. Such as when she's fighting off the wolves on top of the rock there's a white wolf that's trying to jump up and eat her. It's obvious that the CG wolf is stuck in a repeat animation. Like a GIF. Also, for a bunch of villagers back in medieval England living in the woods. They sure seem to have access to a lot of make up and laundry detergent. Netflix isn't a new platform anymore and you'd think they'd have learned by now how to make their shows a little less amateurish and a bit more professional.
The Paradise (2012)
Needle in a Haystack
A surprisingly great story coming from the BBC, I find this simple story of the "First" Dept. Store to quite fulfilling. The actors are fantastic and portray the characters perfectly. I love the small street vibe that this show gives (Even though I wish it showed more of the City). The intricate relationships between employees and how they tie into the store is also very good...Unfortunately the show lacks quite a bit of subtlety. Things that should be less obvious are slammed right into your face. It can get a little overwhelming when the 2nd season begins and new characters are introduced. I wish this could have been aired in the U.S. and advertised better.
Sons of Liberty (2015)
Disrespectful
While the History Channel seems to be going the right way with Vikings, I find Sons of Liberty as probably the most disrespectful piece of crap show I have ever seen. Even though you can claim they were trying to be creative....they failed miserably. When the first scene with Benjamin Franklin was him hitting on anything that moved...well I was highly disenchanted. Whoever wrote this script must have been really drunk and on Viagra. I'm very disappointed with History Channel and their horrible shows. I have a feeling if they don't shape up then they'll disappear within the next few years. Especially with all the other great shows that can manage to keep an audiences attention without waving tits and drugs in their face.
