13 Minutes (2021)
Just Plain Awful
A fairly decent cast couldn't save this stinker. I watched thinking it would be similar to the excellent 'Twister' movie but it was no where near, including a script that was predictable at best. I found myself wanting more action, hoping the movie could keep my interest but it was so lacking I was surprised (but glad!) when it ended. In trying not to add any 'spoilers', I will just say I found very obvious things missing that would be normally found in a small rural farm town. I wondered if it was a small budget or did they just not take the time and effort to be more realistic. All that said, cannot recommend.
Operation Seawolf (2022)
Just Plain Awful
Possibly the worst ww2 movie ever made. From start to finish the script, acting and visuals are terrible. Oddly many of the 'action' scenes looked so fake they were actually laughable. In particular many of the camera angles are annoying and distracting. Additionally the movie feels so cumbersome that you forget the original premise of why this submarine is sent out in the first place. Being a fan of ww2 movies this one left so much to be desired, a complete shame as it could have been better, or at minimum, more interesting. I ended the movie feeling bad for Dolph Lundgren, but I guess good work isn't easy to find!
A Football Life: Walter Payton (2011)
Depressing
As someone who lived thru the 'Sweetness' era I found this documentary oddly depressing and lacking much of the joy Walter Payton brought to the city and the game of Football itself The show seemed to focus mostly on the negatives and I was left feeling watching it once was enough.
Joker (2019)
Disappointing
Joaquin was great but the movie seemed muddled and in some instances, far fetched.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
It Is Finished
To start, I definitely think seeing this film on a big screen with enhanced sound, helped give the film a dramatic edge. I'm not sure it will have the same impact on 'video'. That said, I love that it finished the story and as someone who experienced the originals in theatres, it felt it all came full circle to a satisfying end. The movie was a little long for me, but honestly I'm not sure what I would have cut. I do appreciate that it elicited emotions, and it's been some time that a movie made me want to applaud at the end! Very enjoyable.
