The Freebie (2010)
Dull and boring
This is just such a terrible film. I can't actually remember the last time I had to turn a film off halfway through.
The acting is just amateur, characters are two dimensional, and the plot is so slow it barely moves.
The camera angles and way its directed are clearly trying to make it more "true to life" but I feel sorry for anyone has a life is that slow and monotone. Its like watching an old man fall asleep in slow motion.
Its not smart, its not funny, its not enlightening...its just dull and dragged out.
If two people sitting in bed talking really slowly about nothing in particular and nothing actually happening is for you, or if you want a sure way to fall asleep..watch this film.
Alone in the Dark II (2008)
Awful, and not even funny awful
So..there's a witch..something to do with a knife, and an old man sacrificing his family for some kind of immortality. I just made the plot sound 100 times better than the film does.
Terrible, terrible CGI (everyone hates it, why is it even added to films) and the other "special" effects...glued on veins, I'll say no more.
Even if you are looking for a laugh, don't watch this film, you will be too busy trying to work out why on earth this was made to be able to poke fun.
I didn't see the first film, but Im not seeing that as a bad thing.
Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (2006)
Really good film!
Okay so this one is a young woman that is making a documentary following a serial killer with his consent..
This film isn't your usual. Although its predictable in places, its fun, jumpy, its a good dark comedy. Sure its been done before, but what hasn't?
It mocks slasher films and is one itself. The characters always do exactly what you know they shouldn't...splitting up, not taking their chance to kill the killer etc etc
Nathan Baesel totally steals the show as Leslie Vernon, a really lively, likable, quirky guy. The way he takes you on a step by step plan of his murders, explains the 'typical movie killers' mindset and reasoning was really fun and interesting, even using industry terms.
There's a lot of plot holes, but for me that adds to its charm!
Its nice to have a break from torture porn every once in a while, this is one I'd like to watch again.
