A Darker Reality (2008)
couldn't watch it all
Usually I have a strong stomach for gore and guts... but this movie is just disturbing. I hope to God there is no one alive that would actually be that depraved. THe acting of the girls was very convincing , you felt their pain, the acting of everyone else was boring and uninteresting. I wonder why well known actors would take on this kind of movie. If the point of the movie was to make the make you want to vomit over the reality that this could actually happen, then it rates a 10. I couldn't watch the whole thing. I felt depraved even watching as much as I did, if I would have watched the entire movie I would feel like I was OK with what was happening... guess you'll have to watch it and decide for yourself.
Strangeland (1998)
disturbing
I love a good horror/thriller move like the next person, but I found this movie disturbing and honestly I couldn't watch the whole thing. Thank God that the spoiler told me what would come next so I could stop short of seeing anymore torture. I'm sure my review just proves that the message of disturbing cinema was successful, but for me I thought it was horrific. To think that people actually live, believe and act like this makes me want to hide. I was however, surprised at how Dee Snider can look so different from the torturer to the tortured. The title female character was very convincing, I felt her pain and fear. I always wondered, how would a person pay for and light so many candles??
Amish Grace (2010)
So accurate
I live within an hour of the tragedy of the Amish school shooting. I also live in a community with many Amish families who live and work among us. I can only say that we should all live more within the values of the Amish. This movie depicts their culture and faith as accurately as any movie could. It showed that even the people with the strongest faith can question the course of things. But their ways would move us all. I cried so much at this movie, more than at any that I have watched in all my years. The actors brought the Amish community to life. I would have swore that I was in my own community. They could have spoke more with a Dutch accent English like the Amish in my community but the acting was genuine and the message clear. It was a tragedy, one that I myself would have a hard time with forgiveness but they are 100% right in their words, thoughts and actions. I found the movie tasteful and in no means degrading or 'overdone'. Anyone involved in the making of this film should be proud.
