To get this out of my system...endless nostolgia does not a movie make. OK the special effects were great but the original did so much more with so much less.

One thing doesn't make sense
18 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The police would easily comb that river over with a fine tooth comb, find that their was actually a cat in the bundle, and naturally deduce that baby Billy is alive and has been kidnapped. A little more investigation would lead them to the dastardly couple. In the sequel, maybe?

The winning streak ended in flames
9 September 2020
7 great and vastly different Rob Reiner directed movies This Is Spinal Tap (1984) The Sure Thing (1985) Stand By Me (1986) The Princess Bride (1987) When Harry Met Sally (1989) Misery (1990) and A Few Good Men (1991) - What a winning streak to start a directing career! It all goes up in flames with 1994's disastrous North. Check out Siskel & Ebert's review on YouTube.

Some remakes are so bad...

That to get it out of your system, you need to rewatch the original immediately (or as soon as possible). This is clearly the case here - everything that worked in the hilarious 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels' falls totally flat here. It is true that the movie is updated to reflect modern technology, but aside from that there is absolutely no reason this needs to exist. The only thing that I liked was the fine score by Anne Dudley, but even that deserves a much better film, as do we all.

Great premise but doesn't deliver
17 June 2019
Was expecting another top flight film along the lines of "Get Out" but Us just didn't deliver. Where is the social commentary? Seems more like an M. Night Shyamalan type of movie; Jordan Peele is obviously a very talented filmmaker so hopefully his third film will be a return to form.

One of the funniest movies of all time
6 July 2015
Non stop hilarity from start to finish - if you haven't seen this movie you really need to ASAP.

Great script, and the amazing ensemble cast is fantastic. David O Russell's first film is his best, as well as one of the seminal comedies of the 1990s.

One of those rare comedies that I can watch over and over - the soundtrack fits the film like a glove. Ben Stiller has made quite a few movies since this early one, but none come close to this one (with the exception of There's Something About Mary).

See this film - you won't be sorry.
