Road Kill (2010)
6/10
actually quite enjoyable
28 August 2013
After some of the terrible reviews almost didn't watch this, which would have been a shame as it is actually an enjoyable film.

The story wasn't bad in the end (but I have to admit a few small changes would have made it much better!), a lot of the filming was rather dramatic and impressive. The acting was on and off comical and realistic. It is worth watching for Sophie Lowe alone!

The soundtrack was also surprisingly good.

At first we thought this was going to turn out to be a modern Australian rehash of Duel meets The Car but it stood up as a good tale in it's own right.

Overall we enjoyed it and in parts made us grin. And now I'd love the chance to drive a road train !

Though perhaps in slightly happier circumstances.

Actually quite enjoyable!

Bought this in a discount store so had low expectations from it. Actually really good - a simple and enjoyable film. Easy to watch and fun. Some of the characters (esp Nace and Ramona) were good to watch - nicely scripted and acted. Apart from that the story is great if taken with a relaxed view.

I recommend it and am glad to have it in the collection. The tank chase scene is comical and almost up there in Smokey and the Bandit or even comic James Bond style. The film is almost in Kelly's Heroes territory but is its own story.

Resident Demon (2004 Video)
not that bad -Spoiler
4 September 2004
Warning: Spoilers
if this film was made with a better budget, it would have been great (maybe!)

The story line wasn't bad, but the speed of the plot and the hilarious acting almost made it unwatchable! still vaguely enjoyed it though.

spoiler(!) for me, one of the best moments (apart from thinking that it was going to be a soft porn film at the beginning) was when the zombie corpses began to wake up and their jaws chattered comically.

think The Ring kind of effects and the suspense of Gothika..... then.... perhaps this film could be better!!

one last thing - we loved all of the Parish family in the credits, even down to the catering manager and the catering assistant too (who also appeared in the movie)

The Wrong Guy (1997)
Brilliant!
26 July 2004
I didn't know what to expect, but from near the beginning this film is comedy genius.

The name scene in the hospital ranks with some of my favourites ever. The humour is in the detailing in much of the film, with good contribution from the lazy detective. I have to write some more, as it wont let me submit unless there's 10 lines, luckily I'm happy to rant a bit about Dave Foley's performance. Never seen him before, but will look out for him in future. He makes this film rather special.

What was really excellent about this film (and essential to the humour in the plot) was the early twist revealing that this wasn't going to be another predictable wrong guy film. I wont reveal it as don't want to spoil it, but its very cleverly done.

All in all, highly recommended.

Identity (2003)

Just great

I went in with no expectations, never having heard of this movie. I guess from the comments thats the best way.

I was expecting a simple killer thriller once it started.

The way the transport was tied in with the convict arriving at the motel was clever, and the mid plot twist was fab and such a surprise. I don't mind clues being omitted to heighten the surprise (but I hate it when details are added, clues are always too simple and spoil everything).

Once the twist was added, the story was obvious, but pleasantly so. I was a bit surprised when our hero then appeared back at the motel to fight his demons.

The very ending was a classic hollywood ploy for an ending that still remained pleasing. It might have been obvious but didn't spoil the film.

Basically, I havent enjoyed a film (or been so surprised) for a lonnnnng time. Picking a random film can be so good!
