A Christmas Carol (2019)
I really liked this version!!!
Truly, I thought it was refreshing to see a Christmas Carol that was not loaded with cutesy-poo unrealistic scenes of life "back then." This seemed much more possible to me than the previous versions of CC. It's not "pretty" and certainly NOT for children. But it's beautifully acted and very imaginative. I would recommend this for anybody who can tolerate a little difference in interpretation of a classic. Try it - you might like it.
The Astronaut Farmer (2006)
What I expected to happen **SPOILERS**
This was an enjoyable movie. However, it seemed to me that anyone who obviously adored his family like Charlie Farmer did would NOT have launched the second time. After the near fatal disaster of his first attempt, I expected the second launch to be called off during the countdown, with some sort of expression like "it's OK, I know I can do it if I want to but I can't risk breaking up my family" or some such thing. To launch a second time was just plain selfish, in my opinion. I did like the remark about the government not being able to find weapons of mass destruction if Charlie had made them. The whole audience laughed at that one!
Brokeback Mountain (2005)
Question - I need opinions on this
My husband and I are having a difference of opinion. How did Jack die? My husband believes that he was killed by the exploding tire, just like his wife said, and the brief film of a man being beaten was Ennis's flashback to the story he was told as a child. I thought that the wife actually knew that he was beaten to death (hence the brief film) and was lying to Ennis. What does everyone else think of this? I loved this film. I think that some homophobes don't because the film points out that this might happen to anyone in that circumstance, and not just to those who are openly homosexual. I thought that the love story was beautiful. What's important is not who you love, but THAT you love.
28 Days Later... (2002)
This didn't make sense to me
Maybe someone can explain this to me. It is said that there are some cases of infected people in New York and Paris. The disease takes 10 to 20 seconds to develop once a person is infected. Given that, why would any infected people be allowed on airplanes to spread the disease? It's obvious they are infected. And if somehow one did get on an airplane, the entire plane full of people would be infected before landing. Why would that plane be allowed to land?
