Eragon (2006)
Did Steven Fanmier and screenwriters READ the book?
Christopher Poalini's books are pure imagination and genius, but Steven Fangmier's adaptation is HORRIBLE! Did he read the book? I felt myself wondering if I was still in the right theater room! Arya's an elf and I'm a tree, Saphira's a dragon and I'm Orlando Bloom! Arya is nothing like an elf and Saphira is more bird-like then dragon-like.
I loved the books, but the movie was awful! It jumped around the storyline, cut out three very vital character that carry on the second installment of the trilogy, and did poor costume design! Urgals were barbarians and the Ra'azac were ninjas! The whole story, an almost 500 page story is crammed into 1 hour and 40 minutes of worthless film footage! When introduced to the glorious Tronjheim I found a jungle- like tribe village and was completely turned off by a boring battle scene that ensued! So really this movie isn't for hardcore fans of Eragon, but really for young kids who've never read the book! Really Eragon deserved an LOTR (Lord of the Rings) Peter Jackson treatment, instead we are introduced to Steven Fanmier's first time at directing! Man does it show, by his boring 1 hour and 40 minutes of footage and complete waste of time! Really this a shame since I'm a Jeremy Irons fan! You start with worthless horror films or just bad films to gain experience, Steven, you don't start with one of the biggest fantasies of all time!
Ice Age: The Meltdown (2006)
Head for higher ground!
This movie really lives up to the first one, it is very funny, I was a little mad at the "d" word, but that did not deter me to give this movie a 9. This movie is awesome, I just saw it today Apr. 15 2006, and thought it was great! This movie has a little sexual material, but it plays out to where even my 10 yr. old brother didn't notice it, so I'm pretty sure it's safe for most kids! They will love the movie unless they didn't like the first one. Some kids might be just a little scared by the newly introduced characters, but should recover quickly. Be sure to listen for the voices of Josh Peck as Eddie and Jay Leno as Fast Tony!
Ice Age (2002)
The herd is formed!
This movie was great! Me and my friend loved it! Be prepared for a little evolutionary influence, but other than that it's awesome! They've really done well with computer animation and wish all animated movies were as good as this one! Now it's not my favorite movie in the world but it is very good! It is so dang funny too! Scrat is is so freaking' hilarious! This works as a fantastic family/kids movie! If you want to step aside from violent or profane movies and such this is a great diversion to watch over and over again! This movie is great for everyone unless you detest the genre! But all in all this movie rocked! I love this movie!
DragonHeart (1996)
Einon must die!
I don't see why this movie got such cruddy reviews! This movie was awesome, medieval/action movie goers, this is a must see! Kara is sexy! Bowen is a skillful knight! And Draco is a powerful and wise dragon! This movie is great!!! I loved it, it has a great ending battle scene like most medieval movies do! I has great fight scenes and everything! The storyline is great with Bowen and Draco teaming up to destroy Einon and his forces. This movies has awesome swordplay and amazingly good special effects even being made in 1996! I don't know what else to say except that this movie is one of the best of all times and is worth watching!
Kingdom of Heaven (2005)
Jerusalem must be saved!
I don't know why this movie got bad reviews, it's awesome. They made some remarks about my Lord Jesus Christ that I didn't like in the movie, but it was a great movie! I'm eagerly anticipating the release of the director's cut. The fight scenes are awesome! People say the epic battle at Jerusalem is the best, quite frankly that's right but the whole darn thing rocks. They had one scene between Sybilla and Balian that wasn't vital to the progression of the film, but it's easily avoided with the help of your remote. This movie is good, because of no profanity & and a little sex/nudity, but the violence is high, which makes the movie great for action/medieval movie goers!
Gladiator (2000)
Maximus reigns!
To start with an amazing battle scene at the beginning rocks! Gladiator is one of the best movies I've ever seen! The movie is undoubtedly graphic, but is awesome to watch! The moves and sword play is enticing, especially at the end where Commodus fights Maximus! To have this movie a year before the Lord of the Rings trilogy makes it a sweet prelude! The storyline rocks and the visual swordplay and all rules the screen to the point where you can't turn away from the movie for even a little bit! Great soundtrack, great gladiator fights and the violence that occurs is enticing, but it is just a little much at some points, but that did not persuade me to give it a lower score than 10.
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
The Journey ends!
I wish that I could become High King of Gondor like Aragorn. He rules with compassion and such, but anyway this movie is amazing, probably the best in the trilogy! Anyway the special effects rule, the story rules, the story rules, and the Ring rules. Frodo LIVES!!!!!! You absolutely cannot go wrong with this movie, one of the best in the world! If you love action, or medieval warfare and battle you will adore this movie!!!!!!!! I absolutely love this movie and parted at the with great sorrow, because, I've read the book and know the ending, but to go with this trilogy for 3 years and then part is too much for an extreme fanatic to take! But this movie and book and Frodo and memory will live on forever!!!!!
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)
The journey continues!
This is an extremely intriguing film, the battle scenes, especially Helm's Deep were amazingly well done!!!! I can't believe Peter did so well! Some say that the film was too long, I say it wasn't long enough, not even the super awesome extended version! There are very few director's that revolutionize Hollywood, but I say Peter is one of the best!!! He portrayed everything with amazing visual effects, the huge armies and epic battles! Treebeard is sweet! He is so treelike and was well done, like the picture in my head! This movie has no flaws, and is one of the best! Definitely this trilogy is the greatest epic of all time! Stories like these will always live on in the hearts of fanatics like me!
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
Frodo's quest begins!
This is the best movie I have ever seen verses many others! I read the books when I was 8, I was enticed and loved it. This is by far the best movie, I love all 3 in the trilogy and love them all equally. If you're a medieval person like me this is your movie or if you like heroes, or anything of that sort this is your move! This movie RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love it so much if I haven't mentioned. Peter did great, Tolkien did great, and the cast did great in portraying the characters of this epic film well. This movie on a scale of 1 to 10, it doesn't need a scale, it's off the chart awesome! Frodo Lives!!, and always will in the heart of fanatics like me!
