Birdsong (2012)
9/10
watch it, its rather good.
23 January 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I would recommend this to anybody that likes a good romance or historical drama.

I personal thought the storyline was fantastic and having not read the book i really want to read it now. the actors are brilliant and the two main actors have great chemistry and play the individual parts amazingly.

i think Philip Martin's work unbelievably good and i think this was one of his greatest works.

I want to be a director when i'm older and this is exactly the sort of i want to direct.

The drama reminded me of Atonment quite a lot, particularly the romance side of it anyway. The rest of the cast was superb as well. for example, you have Richard Madden and Joseph Mawle from a Game of Thrones.

Each character has different sides to them and they react differently to the events throughout the drama. in the scenes where Stephen is in the trenches you get a feeling of what is was like to be in the trenches back then, obviously unless you were there, we really have no idea of what the terrible things the brave soldiers must have seen.

The music for this drama is a beautiful piece with only piano and violins playing softly in the background, there is a lovely simplicity to it and i love it. The buildings and the clothes are wonderful and i deeply enjoy dramas where it is set in the early nineteen hundreds as you get a feel of what it was like back then.

I thought this was truly a master piece and i loved every second of it. It made me cry, in fact, i couldn't stop for a while... and i was left wanting more and wanting to find out what happens next...

If you enjoyed it. Then like me, you will have something to look forward to during the week.

thanks for reading... enjoy Birdsong

The Duchess (2008)
wonderfully put together film with great actors, very informative and interesting. romantic and historical, i suggest anyone who hasn't seen it, to watch it !
13 August 2011
I had been meaning to watch this film for a while, but i just never got round to it until i found out my Nan had had it in her film cu board all along... Overall, i thoroughly enjoyed this film.... i thought it was really interesting and i loved the cast, i thought the actors fitted the characters were perfect for their roles...Although Keira Knightley is not my favourite actress, (dont get me wrong, she is fantastic) but Ralph Fiennes stood out, i hadn't seen him in allot of films before, but once i started getting interested more and more in film and the really memorable films in the industry e.g. Schindler's list. his name just kept popping up and up more and more, he is such a great actor as is his brother Joseph and during 'The Duchess'... Ralph really was fantastic, because as the film went on and you saw what really happened in that time period of the 18th century and the way is character is represented makes you realise how horrible men could/can be, he made his character have many sides though, and underneath all the anger and power that the duke has in the film, he is just a softy that is miserable and wants people to get off his back about things. this film has taught me a lot, how the fashion was, the politics and how the government was run, but most of all how badly women were treated and how selfish parents were back then, all because of money and rank. But as i said before, wonderful film, i will definitely be watching it again.

Camelot (2011)
7/10
I will continue watching it, but Arthur is such a disappointment.
12 June 2011
This is my first review on IMDb,i'm a student studying Media Studies and as i am constantly on this website i thought, what the hell, i'll sign up! I had been looking forward to 'Camelot' since i saw the trailer for it, i had seen clips and reviews about it but could never find it(obviously because it hadn't come out yet).

I was so looking forward to it, because my favourite actress,(Eva Green) stars in it, she is totally unrated and i've only seen her in a few films, e.g. Cracks, Casino Royalle, Kingdom of Heaven...

I watched the first episode last night and although it had rather a lot of explicit sex scenes and Arthur was played by the a rather feminine male, i thought it was very interesting and good.

As i was already a big fan of things like Merlin and Robin Hood i thought i would give it a go.

As i said before, Eva Green is brilliant and she suits her mysterious, dark, beautiful and EVIL character very well, i think that the episode itself was a bit of a let down.

But as always patience is a virtue and from the R Rated Age Review i read, i'm sure there is a lot action, love and magic to come.....
