Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel (2021)
Waste of Time
This drags on to the point that it becomes completely frustrating to watch. It focuses on you tubers and conspiracy theories and holds back any interesting information on the case to drag the series out for as long as possible. Don't waste your time, it'll make you angry.
Jackie (2016)
Unbelievably Boring - Don't waste your time!
A film about nothing much more than planning a funeral. A Totally forgettable film. Such a shame as I can imagine a bio about her life is extremely interesting. This film gave no insight into the tumultuous relationship she had with JFK or her life after his death.
Wind River (2017)
Good film but definitely not an 8.1 rating
Wind River is good film to watch if you want a simple thriller however if you are looking for a fast paced detailed film, this isn't it. Where the film has beautiful cinematography, the plot lacks complexity in terms of who did it, Olsen's role and what clues are available - "follow the snow tracks".
Gone Baby Gone (2007)
Beyond Boring
South Park warned us that Ben Affleck was annoying and horrible to watch on screen - say hello to his brother! If his depressing voice isn't enough to kill this movie, it's his awful acting. When will Hollywood stop producing movies with these two? I feel sorry for every actor in this movie that had to listen to his voice.
Dispatches: Iran Undercover: Inside the Hidden Revolution (2003)
Awful Egocentric Reporting
I haven't seen such bad reporting on a topic that is so interesting and has so much scope for exploration for a very long time. The reporter, Jane Kokan, appears far more focused on reminding us that she is Canadian and on warning the viewers every 1.5-2 minutes that her life could be in danger than on exploring the different views of the Iranian population. At one point she feels the need to tell us she is filming in the toilet because she believes her room is tapped, this is followed by multiple shots of a cockroach on the wall. In my opinion she should have stayed in the toilet. The filming of the cockroach on the wall sums up this entire documentary - absolutely tasteless and dull.
What has happened to the standards of Channel 4 documentaries and reporting? It has dropped so far below the BBC, it seems to now be competing with ITV.
Waste Land (2010)
Narcissist
I have developed a love for films and documentaries coming out of Brazil, particularly with Elite Squad 1 and 2, films that completely blow my mind. I therefore had high hopes for this documentary, especially as it had a 7.8 on IMDb.
The documentary starts off well, that is for the first 5 minutes, then what you begin to experience is pure narcissism. The recycling story is an interesting one and the lives the pickers lead is one that could have been explored on a deeper level that would have made for a great documentary. Instead this is all about one over-inflated ego promoting himself with final products unable to live up to expectations. This documentary is only worth watching to see the pickers, the rest is a waste of time.
