Alita: Battle Angel (2019)
A Cult Classic Wonder
Excellent movie from start to finish. Another moving and interesting screenplay from James Cameron, made possible by 20th Century Fox. The special effects were and still are top notch, closely resembling Avatar's success. Dua Lipa rounds it off with a harmonistic beat in Swan Song. Definitely a cult classic and remarkable film!
Hoping a sequel will be made, but by the looks of it now with Cameron being tied up with Avatar for the next while, it probably won't happen anytime soon. However this film stands on its own and I definitely recommend as this universe can be expanded upon in the future.

A Carefully Constructed Narrative Leading to a Heartfelt Conclusion - My Thoughts on What Separates This From The Rest
I seldom leave reviews, especially on a Netflix series -- one likely to be only confined to one season and to 8 short episodes. However, after stumbling upon this story, I felt it not only deserving of review, but necessary.
From the first episode, the writers carefully construct a story which involves many intricate parts: a lesbian couple with one deep in the closet and afraid of her parents knowing, a straight couple with children who find themselves separating inch-by-inch as the story progresses, a woman who discovers what she thought her relationship history to be as flawed, an older man certain of who he loved, but unable to move past this love, and the two main characters met by pure coincidence, but painstakingly unwilling to take the first step. In essence, the series presents multiple different audience-relatable narratives which intersect and which reach their respective conclusions in a satisfying way. Here's how:
As the story progresses, the viewer discovers how each narrative relates to one another, and how each flowing part cascades into one simple yet elegant summary. The use of split screen clues the viewer into how each part of the current story may relate to another, but do not be deceived: there are many twists and turns, however the ending of the show feels fitting and true, like the final puzzle piece has been laid in a picture which clarified throughout the series.
Carlos Cuevas and Miki Esparbe headline with natural talent that is refreshing to the gay romantic comedy scene, however each supporting cast member elevates this quality to a new level. I particularly enjoyed the performances of Meritxell Calvo and Pepon Nieto. At times, the relationships between certain characters became bizarre and unrealistic, and the use of gender/queer theory may confuse audience members, however these do not take away from the overall effectiveness of the message.
The production value seems to be on par with other dramas such as Merli, however I particularly commend the cinematography and environment teams for setting the picture in a beautiful light. Spain is truly a beautiful place exemplified in its people, architecture, food, and weather. Somehow I felt attracted to the setting itself even without the superb story.
Lastly, since the narratives are diverse, ever-flowing, and intertwined, I feel most viewers will find some aspect which is relatable to them - even if they don't consider themselves a part of the LGBT community. No matter your age, your appearance, the influences from family, career, or religion, everyone deserves love and happiness. An invisible "thread" will lead you to a better place, and in that place you will find love (if you chose to accept it). In essence, the main characters play hard-to-get, and others are stuck in their respective traps, but the tension built up from episode 1 to episode 8 is palpable and is relieved for every discrete narrative by the final scene.
Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
Never Doubt James Cameron
A blockbuster beauty. Smell the smells, taste the ocean, feel the waves and the air of Pandora as you immerse yourself into this magnificent scene. James Cameron has once again delivered an epic experience to the world, thanks to 20th Century Fox and now Disney for trusting in his vision, we have the privilege to say we lived in this era of storytelling.
Titanic, Avatar, Alita, Terminator, and now Avatar 2 will be added to the record books. If you are questioning whether to see it, STOP QUESTIONING, and go see it. IMAX 3D is the best format, along with Dolby digital 3D. If you have a 4D theatre that's even better.
There's no question that each and every inch of this film was carefully crafted for the audience to enjoy. It's jam packed with awe-inspiring beauty in every frame, heart pounding action scenes, but unfortunately a lacking narrative with a stagnant plot. However, even with these shortfalls, the visuals far make up for it. 10/10.
Bros (2022)
Hilarious, touching, heartwarming movie for all people
I really enjoyed this movie. I was planning on seeing another movie but cancelled due to timing. I decided to see this one instead with a friend and we both laughed the ENTIRE time. It was absolutely hilarious and I never laugh the entire time even during the best comedy movies. It had a great message and the tension between the main characters was palpable. It came to a satisfying conclusion at the end and I left feeling touched and happy.
The supporting cast, actors, set design, locations were great. Yeah, some people in the LGBT community may be upset by some of the self-depricating jokes in this movie, but honestly it teaches us to lighten up and enjoy life. I recommend!
Barbarian (2022)
Worth a shot, good late summer thriller flick
I enjoyed it! The setting complimented the plot and set the mood of the movie. There were moments where the theatre audience laughed, screamed, and gasped. Overall a good plot with decent acting and good cinematography. The movie leads you one direction then twists and turns halfway through and at the end. I recommend most 20th Century movies as they present a unique perspective in their respective genre. The undertones of this movie revealed the intrinsic problems with certain areas of the United States and the challenges women and minorities face. I would give it a try if you have some spare time.
Fall (2022)
A roller coaster of a movie
Full of suspense and stomach-churning twisters. This movie is the definition of a thriller. Would recommend to all ages as long as you can handle heights and small spaces.
Emily the Criminal (2022)
Powerful message through excellent storytelling
Excellent job headlining by Aubrey Plaza. The setting and cinematography complimented the emotions of the characters perfectly. Plaza's character finds herself in a familiar situation for many millennials and she does a great job explaining our troubles through not only her words but her body language. I would recommend all to watch this indie movie in theaters if possible.
Rubikon (2022)
Compelling and interesting Sci-Fi movie
Many of the reviewers here probably aren't used to Sci-Fi films which ask philosophical questions. This film is beautiful visually, has an interesting plot, great acting, and asks these tough questions throughout. There were no points during the movie where I was bored or lost interest. The characters had multiple crises to deal with from beginning to end.
The overall plot is relevant to our potential collective future. Other problems which arise are less impactful but still present dilemmas for the individual characters which can be relatable to certain audience members. To me, asking these hard-hitting questions is a sign of a great science fiction work, reminiscent of works such as Battlestar Galactica.
Time Trap (2017)
Compelling story for a low budget film
Yes, the movie is rough around the edges. And, yes, the acting could be better. Even with its shortfalls, Time Trap has a compelling story and is surprisingly executed well. I think you'll enjoy this one.
Merlí (2015)
A Little Known Icon
Sucks you in deep, tells a captivating story, educates you along the way, and leaves you profoundly changed. Does what many massively higher budgeted productions aspire to do, and doesn't even break a sweat. It's richly sophisticated underneath its seemingly basic surface. A title worthy of awarding and applauding.
Pol and Bruno take the spotlight for me personally. Their relationship is like an itch that can't be scratched and one that gets under my skin (in a good way!). The cast of supporting characters also are worthy of applause, as they each are uniquely interesting in their own ways.
Finding a show that leaves you ravenously craving more is a once in a lifetime reality. So don't waste any more time. Watch the show, and share with your friends after you're done.
Rihanna: Cheers (Drink to That) (2011)
Exciting, behind-the-scenes viewpoint of a pop culture icon
Presents an exciting, yet interesting viewpoint of stardom and Rihanna's innate desire to have fun on and off the stage. A personal "scrapbook" of gatherings, community, and travel.
Another Life (2019)
Rating a 10/10 to offset most of the negative reviews
Watching a show for 30 minutes and making a judgement about it's general plot direction is silly. Yes, the dialogue between some of the cast early on is silly, and yes, the science is (in some regards) unbelievable. In spite of this though, the show presents some interesting moral and ethical dilemmas which are sorted through the first season. Katee does a great job as usual, but the rest are holding their own and could be much worse. Unfortunately, with sci-fi television, mediocre is often outstanding...so take what you get, you might just find out what you've been missing.
Scary Movie 5 (2013)
Expected SO much more...
I really wanted to go into that theater last night and come out extremely satisfied and low on oxygen from from all the laughter...I came out extremely disappointed and a little upset from a few things I'll mention in this review...
First off, I watched all the other movies in the franchise and really enjoyed them. Along with The Naked Gun and Airplane, this series tops my list for one of the best...comedy wise. So naturally I came in expecting to laugh from the opening scene to the concluding scene and into the famous Scary Movie credits and bloopers. I was met with a few laughs in the opening to just a few laughs throughout the entire movie. I was more grossed-out by the constant usage of sex in this particular Scary Movie, the others had sex no doubt...but not to this degree.
I felt as if the actors weren't pressured enough to be witty and humorous. It could be that they just didn't want to try, but I felt with other movies the actors were really making an effort to be funny and witty. In some instances, the actors in this movie looked to be just reciting the line and not giving it any appreciation whatsoever.
Certain parts in the movie like the "Black Swan" story had a genuine playful attitude that I could pick up on, and I appreciated that. Only if they rest of the story was like this I wouldn't be writing this review.
I feel like people would be a better laugh if we return to the comedy of the classics such as Airplane, The Naked Gun, and even the first 4 movies of this franchise! I found it odd that David Zucker couldn't redo what he had done with the oldies, but I guess he has just lost his touch in the industry.
Zookeeper (2011)
Severely Underrated.
The movie is severely underrated by Critics and some audience members alike. It contains some seriously funny comedy that is suitable for mostly all ages except I would say children under 8. (The "bad word" hell is used a few times).
Apart from this, the movie had great humor and a good heart. The story has been used, but hey, you can say that about almost any movie these days. I think the movie needs more credit than what it is given, and I think after reading this, you should go watch it. You wont be disappointed! Don't listen to those critics on Rotten Tomatoes! Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope you enjoy the movie if you have not seen it yet.
Get Smart (2008)
Perfect!
The movie has no obvious flaws. It is an all around fantastic funny movie to watch that I recommend to anybody who has not seen it yet. It was instantly my favorite funny movie since the first time I watched it. Steve Carell is my favorite comedy actor ever, and it really does show in this movie. All the other actors did a fantastic job with the movie, it is one that will keep you laughing no matter how many times you watch it! Try it! The movie is really under rated on this site, as with most movies, but do NOT let that stop you from watching this movie. With that said, I hope you enjoy the movie as much as much as I did when I first saw it, and I do still to this day when I watch it every now and then.
Beauty Shop (2005)
10/10 Great Movie
The movie is under rated on this site. It is a perfect feel good comedy that everyone will sure enjoy.
It is a true good movie.
Queen Latifah is one of the best actors out there in my book. She is just really funny and has a great perspective on the movies she does.
I really hope to see another movie like this one with her in it.
All the other actors in the movie were great, and I saw no flaws with them either.
Shows that even racial aspects of society can be overcome.
My Favorite part in the movie is at the end, when it is shown that everybody is together and the shop is working excellent despite all negative things.
I really hope this review helps people see how good of a movie it really was.
So go ahead and give it a shot! It's worth it!
