The Oath (2018–2019)
7/10
let down by VERY SHAKY camera
16 March 2018
I watched this because it has a few actors that are on my watch list, but I found myself looking away. When will companies realise that the "reality" shaky camera work just doesn't add anything, and, actually detracts from an audience viewing and taking in what's happening. It actually looks as though the camera operator is deliberately shaking it. The editing also consists single shots of the camera panning up and down individuals, at various points, along with extreme close-ups. Honestly if this had good editing/camerawork it would get me hooked. Now it's just like watching an extremely bad found footage series albeit with good actors.

Bad Apples (2018)
1/10
ever feel like your intelligence has been insulted?
7 February 2018
For fans of low budget trash, in sure they will welcome this, but without giving anything away, it's obvious from the first few seconds of the opening scene, that this film was :- Badly shot, filmed on a budget, with terrible music to boot. The reason I say about feeling like your intelligence has been insulted, is because, the cover art for this film looks intriguing. However, I will save you the wasted time you would have spent enduring the pain of this film. Bad cinematography, bad dialogue, bad accompanying music, this film is just plain awful, I'm sorry to say.

Dark Matter (2015–2017)
4/10
if u was rating this up until season 3, it would be a 9/10

Warning: Spoilers
I must say this was my favourite TV show. However, I have it when writers, either simply aren't good enough, or they really their audience for granted. To give you a really good example of this, in season 3, suddenly the Raza crew, acquire 2 NEW crew members... And it's just a given! There is no reason why, no backstory, we suddenly have to accept that these two TOKEN crew members, who have materialised seemingly out of nowhere, are suddenly accepted as part of the crew.... And that's that. As writers, you need to develop your characters, and, when adding New ones, it's important to think on a simple level..."how accepting would the crew be if suddenly they have 2 new Lodgers on board their ship, and why do they need 2 new crew members when they're a tight unit?". For this reason and this reason alone, I'm eating this a 4. It's simply not only takes your audience for granted, that they will STAY LOYAL, but it's also simply not good enough, when there is such a high calibre of writers, and, TV shows being increasingly released.

Psychopath (VI) (2016)
I feel sorry for Michael Biehn
12 January 2017
For a class act like Michael Biehn... (The Terminator/Aliens) I was interested in this movie. Unfortunately, what let it down BIG time, was the intermittent music playing. There was no suspense building at all. Had the music been cut, it would have built a lot more suspense. The beginning intro music and end titles music was really way better.

Next,we have the dialogue and Script, which just seemed completely disjointed at best. I won't give any spoiler alerts, however there are scenes between the young boy and the girl, that just looked like they were plain awkward, and, don't make sense at all. You'll actually see - and hear - Michael Biehn go on about this during the end credits, where they supposedly put in the outtakes for good effect.

I wished I had watched the end credits first, as, I would have gotten the CLEAR impression, that the Director didn't really know what they were doing, and, that the actors themselves didn't think the dialogue worked... which it didn't.

All in all a completely forgettable movie, and, you really will not miss this at all, if you do not watch. I'll be rating this only a 4 out of 4, just because some of the cast were in movies I really enjoyed!

Rupture (I) (2016)
9/10
genuinely on the edge of my seat
7 January 2017
Looks like there are either some disgruntled ex-lovers/colleagues leaving reviews, or something else is going on here (from the bad reviews that I have read). If you want a genuinely disturbing film, Definitely watch this. I am a movie lover, and, have also studied film for several years. This has a good cast, and, genuinely left me on the edge of my seat. I can't really say any more without giving a major spoiler alert, but, if you are a fan of suspense, this is a MUST watch. I liked how the plot developed, and, where it really succeeded, was, in giving the audience a sense of being enclosed, trapped, and, isolated. My heart was actually pounding that much, I felt I was therewith the main protagonist. A very good film.

Z Nation (2014–2018)
4/10
Considered review
13 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I AM A FAN of this show. I have given this show a 4 out of 10 rating because of the following reasons:-

During Season 1 I was amazed by the concept of this show. Yes, like so many before me, this is compared to the walking dead, because - let's face it - these are the ONLY 2 mainstream, ongoing zombie TV shows out there.

What I liked was the freshly, and, originality of the show, the fact that it's not too proud of itself, and, has a sense of humour.

What I didn't like - from the start - was the accompanying music. The shows producers give the impression, that they use the same person - over and over again - for the background music. It's a crying shame, that there is not a lot more thought put into this. Some parts work well, and, during other parts, i'm left thinking "why is the same old music playing, its not building tension, but it doesn't need to be there". Getting the music right to set the atmosphere is ESSENTIAL in any movie/TV show, and, this fails too many times in that respect.

I've watched this show right the way through so far, and, absolutely love the characters, however one major flaw in Season 3, is that the storyline has almost run out of ideas/creative writers. Yes, it's great that we have defined characters, however the lead female role **spoiler alert** when she confronts her old buddy and puts a large knife through him, proves, that we are making her character too big, and, also running out of sophisticated plot runs. The whole "red hand" was an awesome idea, but with one major flaw. Do you REALLY THINK that the whole gang would actually just immediately bow down, and, accept a new leader, after watching their leader get mutilated right in front of them? Hell no". This plot twist, immediately saw an end to the effectiveness of the red hand, and, thus ended the mystery associated with them. Also **second spoiler alert** after the female scientist dies, and, murphy proceeds to talk to her, before eating her brain, we actually SEE HER BLINKING. Not bad for a dead person eh? Again, this is rule 101 of film school folks. You always have either a critics screening, or a pre-release during which time the producers look over it for errors such as this.

The 3rd reason for my rating is the EFFECTS. If you are seriously telling me that the SYFY team can't build a set, and, invest in a snow machine, then that's a real shame. The Antartica effects are terrible, digitally created snowfails.

So to summarise, if you are going to invest more time, more money, to keep your captive audience captivated, then you'll keep them coming back for money. Audience expectation vs audience satisfaction. If you take your audience for granted, and, churn out the same old, sooner or later, your product will start to fail.

100 Degrees Below Zero (2013 Video)
6/10
O_o this isn't all that bad
26 May 2013
If you are like me and have the attention span of a doughnut, then this should suit you well.. Also, If you like see busty cleavage-ridden babes, acting in a disaster movie, then.. this should suit you well :) It has a cast of well known names, yes hammy acting at times, but it's a good one to stick on in the background. Oh, and, did I mention the women :O Jeff Fahey, is yet again, some kind of ex special forces 'copter pilot, and, that is the funniest thing here. He doesn't seem to be tough enough for it, and, only knows how to twiddle the 'gearstick' on his 'copter', which is why, i'm assuming, he has a beautiful woman in tow! A nice movie to while the time ago, but definitely NOT the worst movie. There are far badder movies out there, this one, at least deserves a 5 or 6 for trying.

Dear God No! (2011)
2/10
If beating up and killing innocent women is your thing...this is for you
13 March 2012
Warning: Spoilers
All I can say is, this movie from the opening scenes is awful. The acting is bad, and, the director/writer seems to get off on the idea of murdering/exploiting women in this movie. Like, for example, the first scene, where the bikers wake up after an orgy of killing and raping the night before. One Biker is repeatedly kicking a dead woman's genitals, whilst the other one takes fun 'mashing up' the body of another with his motorbike. I am a fan of subversive and different movies, and, am into the 'house of 1000 corpses' style of film, but i'm sorry, this film is nowhere near that. It seems the Director wanted to get the Tarantino 'grindhouse' feel but the film doesn't come anywhere near it, and, at the end of the day, people are responsible for the images they portray and the films they produce. You don't need to show mindless murder and rape in abundance to portray 'bad-ass' characters, unless you're getting off on it, or you forget what the movie is about. I think that's the case here, as, in my opinion, this is a truly awful movie.

Cold Weather (2010)
1/10
starts off interesting and quirky then ends suddenly
10 August 2011
Warning: Spoilers
this starts off being an OK kind of movie. Interesting quirky characters, and, you think 'ahh there will be some mystery when the ex-girlfriend disappears (which for about 5minutes there is). Then, the guy does a bit of research(still interesting), cracks some codes, finds his ex. The acting was OK, the main character, for a man, was a real washout, and quite wimpy. I honestly am not really sure why he had a girlfriend in the first place. He really does seem more gay than straight. His poor friend, from the 'ice' factory, who decides to bum off work and help him in his mission to find the 'ex', only gets to sit in a motel room, and, chase after a truck in the parking lot, other than that, he doesn't see any action. The films end up with said guy and ex as they sit in a car, and the film ends :O Say no more..... it's really a let down. I think the writer had an off day or spilt coffee over the end of their script.
