Dirilis: Ertugrul (2014)
Finally a show we can watch with our family
As a Muslim I grew up watching Hollywood movies and continue watching US, UK and other Western series and movies, however, until this day there is no show portraying Muslims in a positive light. I was hooked to this series from the first episode, we started watching during Ramadan and my kids enjoyed it thoroughly. We are especially proud because of our Turkic roots and how this show pays tribute to Turkish homeland, which is currently in Uzbekistan. Highly recommended show!
Origin (2018)
Do not fall for good reviews
I hardly finished watching all of the 10 episodes, I felt for the reviews and thought that it's worth watching, but man was I wrong. I tried my best to like it, but unfortunately, it didn't deliver. Every character does so many stupid things, you stop caring about them by the end of the series. If you value your time, do not, I repeat, do not waste your time on this show.
When the Moors Ruled in Europe (2005)
Finally an accurate account of Islam's role in Europe's history
Through this documentary the British historian Bettany Hughes proves that Rudyard Kipling's famous quote "East is east, and west is west, and never the twain shall meet" is wrong. I would highly recommend this documentary for those interested in the history of Europe and of Islam.
Bettany Hughes travels to Morocco and Europe to tell about an advance of Islam. While at excavation sites in Spain she interviews a local archaeologist, who paints a completely opposite picture of Islam's first days in Spain, which was called Al Andalus at that time. One can learn how through development of algebra, geometry and other sciences Islam progressed and later influenced Europe.
Please watch this along with a 1976 film called "The Message", so that you could see the whole landscape of the history of Islam.
Terra Nova (2011)
Wooden characters and lack of plot!
I was pinning a lot of hopes to this widely advertised TV show. I liked the first episode, but somehow felt that characters are not well developed, but I decided to give it a try and watch the 2 and 3 episodes. And there I decided that I won't continue watching this T show. It's full of clichés and stupid dialogues and worst of all you can predict what will happen next. What I also didn't like about this show is that a lot of attention is giving to each teenager and their feelings towards an opposite sex, for Christ's sake this supposed to be a sci-fi show, not another stupid teenage drama. Anyways, if you don't trust these reviews watch a couple of episodes and decide for yourself. When it comes to me, I'll watch Primeval instead :)
Mirrors 2 (2010)
Terrible!
Terrible movie, at times I wanted to stop watching it, but decided to watch it until the end. I think that they should have started a movie from telling a little bit about this mysterious girl. One more thing was unclear, why she did not start taking on her vengeance from the guy who killed her?
Dialogues are really stupid, two policemen were really bad in their acting. Even the main character was wooden.
Well, don't even waste your time on this terrible movie. There's nothing in common with the first Mirrors. They could have called this movie anything but mirrors, since visions appear on any glassy surface.
My vote: 2 out of 10
The Tunnel (2011)
Brilliant!
Just finished watching this fantastic horror flick and registered on IMDb especially to say that this movie worth seeing and considering it's a free download movie it simply blows your mind. It's a way better than tons of those commercial horror movies, this one is just great!
I watched both parts of Paranormal Activity and The Tunnel is much more better, especially the way and place it got filmed. You just keep waiting for monsters to jump at you from a dark corner of the tunnel, but I just say no more and let you enjoy this piece of art!
Don't wait, download and watch this movie, but don't forget to turn your lights off to get the real atmosphere!
