Snoozeville Galore! I'm Soo Bored and Confused.
23 September 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Holy crappola "the tree of life" is boring. After reading some fantastic reviews, I thought I'll give it a gander. For the first 30 mins. I had to keep going back because I didn't understand what was going on. Then when I finally started to get the gist of the story, they bring in a science educational video about the beginning of the earth with dinosaurs and stuff. Somehow that's suppose to tie in with the whole entire movie. Now at this point, I've fallen asleep about twice already, and had to go back and start this movie all over again. After enduring about an hour of it, I felt like I was waiting at the doctor's office, and I swear it felt like I can hear the slow ticking of a clock. I had to pause it and grab a cup of coffee so that I can finally finish it.

The movie is suppose to be about 2 hours, but because I fell asleep twice, had to go back numerous times just to try to understand the movie, I would say real time for this movie is 5 hours. 5 hours of complete boring ass slow as molasses story. Even the music sounded like something out of a high school orchestra or choir class. I understand some people would say that it's artistic, I say that's bunghole bs. There was suppose to be some metaphor with some bible references, but it missed the mark. If "tree of life" is about life and death, it certainly tried to make its point literally. Even the end didn't make too much sense, why are his brothers young and Sean Penn is still an old fart? why did his mom have a double? why was everyone else roaming around endlessly while their family gets a reunion? See what I mean? doesn't make any sense.

If I could give this movie a negative out of ten I would. It certainly brought the meaning of death to me.

Boring and Slow meets Horrible and Lame
3 August 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Sorry, I watched this movie without any prior knowledge or background to Josemaria nor the Opus Dei. I have to admit I couldn't stay interested in it. I found it boring, tedious, slow and just horrible. I had to register to save other people the excruciating experience of watching such a lame movie. Reading other reviews, I would have thought that the movie would explore the darker side of humanity or some other profound concepts, but the movie failed, and just kept going on and on. Two hours of my life I can not take back. If you like slow, tedious and overall epic failure at trying to make a movie with a deeper meaning, then watch this movie "there be dragons".
