The Commander (2003)
Worked for me (Spoilers within)
I read a previous comment left and I ask without prejudice 'did the previous reviewer and myself even watch the same pro gramme'. i guess its a case of different strokes for different folks.
I have to admit I love Amanda Burton I think she is a top actress totally underestimated and underused anyway.
I was totally convinced James Lampton Was being set up by hedges and co. Last scene he and Commander Blake have together was outstanding I was sitting on the edge of my seat man it was brilliant.
In fact folks i loved this so much i have bought the DVD box set and re-watch it occasionally.......... I don't think Amanda Burton can do any wrong every show I've watched that she has been in i have enjoyed so in my opinion she is picky when it comes to her work choosing only what she feels enthusiastic about.
I think the point of the show was to allow the view to see what a mess an error of judgement can make. The think that really impressed me is that the mistake made by Clare Blake wasn't just swept under the carpet in the next episode unlike so many other series's I've watched. no it was dealt with thoroughly she was made to face up to it and I'm vol 3 of Season 1 'Blackdog'is really made to sweat it. anyway I loved it great show Lynda la plante deserves an Oscar and as for Amanda Burton two of them a golden globe, emmy bafta and NFTA.
I am only slightly biased. This is my opinion of the show no disrespect to any other folks reviewing
Flightplan (2005)
Oh Yea What a Movie
I personally loved this Movie. OK I agree perhaps there were a few too many red herrings in here. I mean the whole terrorist angle didn't' work for me at all.
I loved Jodie Foster in this movie she was very believable, I felt sorry for her. The first time I watched it I wasn't sure what the story was, is she crazy is she sane. Did she really have her daughter with her. We could see little Julia on-screen but were we seeing through Kyle Pratt's eyes or what was going on. There was a nice touch at the the start where she gets into a car with Julia and the taxi driver is giving her weird looks through his mirror at the front. I thought that was a nice touch.
I loved Sean Bean in this movie I have always loved his work. I wasn't however, overly impressed with Peter Sarsgard. The twist at the end is really unexpected and quite brilliant.......... this is deffo one of my favorite movies..... i would recommend to everyone that you watch it and judge it for yourselves. its a case of different strokes for different folks.
Out of the Ashes (2003)
Gave me The Shivers it was that good....
This is an outstanding piece of film making Joseph S does an excellent job directing this movie. His leading lady Christing Lahti steals the show completely she is 100% believable as Gisella Perl. This movie is based on the book "I was a Doctor In Auswitz", written by Dr Gisella Perl. The thing that really impressed me about Ms Lahti's work on this was the accent. She not only hits brilliantly but also delivers a performance to be both reckoned with and remembered. This film depicts the holocaust in to my way of thinking a very real way. There is one scene with a small baby that had me choking up it was tastefully done and acted to perfection. This is one of my all time favorite movies. I hope readers here get to watch it and that you all enjoy it as much as i did. I lack words to praise this picture or Ms Lahti's work on it enough......
The Pilot's Wife (2002)
A Peach Of A Movie
I totally loved this Movie got it on DVD yesterday and was blown away. I have always been a fan of Christine Lahti's work anyway, since Chicago hope. She is totally brilliant in this film. the plot is simple the central character is Kathryn Lyons shes a pilot's wife he gets killed. she learns things about him she would have probably been better off not knowing. Campbell Scott co-stars and does a great job there are a couple of outstanding scenes between himself and Christine Lahti. I can't praise this movie enough I personally loved it and I am very glad I bought the DVD. I would highly recommend that readers here rent it, buy it borrow it. It's one of those classics that I don't think will date. Breat movie, Great acting.....
