The Winner (2007)
Lighten the hell up
To the guy who couldn't believe they would air this show after the simpsons and family guy, as if it's disgracing those two programs, you gotta be kidding me. The simpsons and family guy are sooooo over the hill. It's been years since I've laughed out loud at a new episode of simpsons or family guy, and I used to be one of the biggest fans around of those two shows. Rob Cordry, while his acting at times was a little ridiculous, was hilarious nonetheless and delivered most of his lines fantastically. And I love how he interacts with the 14 year old kid- some of the stuff they said to each other was priceless. To snuggy bear, based on the name you chose for yourself, I'm not surprised you were offended by this show. If it's too edgy for you, try switching over to Nick, Jr.
Cabin Fever (2002)
Misunderstood
I've been reading a lot of the user comments and it seems that 90 percent of people are completely clueless about this movie. Eli Roth is making fun of horror movies, not trying to make the next "Halloween." In fact, I think this movie is better than any of the "Scary Movie" films, as Roth mixes in the humor with an actual horror story. If you can't see this from the abundance of jokes and the hilarious ending, than I feel sorry for your stupidity. Great job Eli Roth and I can't wait for the dvd of "The Rotten Fruit" to come out.
The Passion of the Christ (2004)
Dangerous and gross portrayal
So when does the church plan on making Pontius Pilate a saint? Known as one of the most evil men ever, Gibson makes Pilate look like Jesus' best friend in this film, while portraying the Jews as a bloodthirsty, unforgiving mob. Regardless of whether or not Gibson meant to be anti-semitic, that's how the movie came across. Despite the Catholic Church's statement about 50 years ago that the Jews were not being responsible for Jesus' death, this movie is sure to fan the flames of anti-semitism. While intelligent people will realize this movie is historically inaccurate, it's the more ignorant people I'm afraid of. I can imagine a filthy red neck right now sitting in his rocking chair on his porch, shotgun in hand, saying to himself, "Dang, dem Jews done killed my lawd. Come on Cletus! We need to be rounding up some kykes." Back to the movie. If Mel Gibson wanted to create a spiritual movie, why would he use a part of Jesus' life where he doesn't preach anything? Someone who knows nothing about Jesus would not be enlightened in any way by this film. The few flashbacks to earlier in his life do not satisfy the spiritualness that Gibson claimed he wanted to show. Instead, we see a man getting beaten beyond recognition. Maybe Gibson just wanted to make another violent movie that would bring people to the theatres, ala "Braveheart."
