Delightful musical.
27 October 2003
This wonderful short musical has the audience tapping its toes throughout the movie. The catchy, upbeat songs are paired with dynamic choreography that mesmerizes you from the very first beat. Great pacing and energy from beginning to end.

Most impressive, though, is the beautiful cinematography that captures all of the excitement of the musical without neglecting the nuances of the characters and story. The camerawork was obviously well-planned and made the most of the vivid colors and performances. I was surprised to learn that "When the Kids are Away" was shot entirely on HD, and it definitely serves as a testament to the possibilities of that medium.

This short film is a treat for anyone who loves musicals!

High Society (1956)
Great for Armstrong fans.

Louis Armstrong is witty and charming as... Louis Armstrong in this musical remake of "The Philadelphia Story". Though the set pieces occasionally get a little bit drawn-out and boring, Armstrong's music is upbeat and full of life. The beautiful Grace Kelly and dapper Frank Sinatra add a little glitter to this otherwise mediocre take on a classic story.
