UFO (2021)
This had some potential
"UFOs are real"
"Wait wait, no they're not....."
"Wait wait, you're a useful idiot watching our doc in an effort to make you look here, not there. We have to swap out the great and Powerful Oz real quick. Oh Hi Truman!"
Roseanne: Maybe Baby (1994)
Poor Dan
Women, include your men in these decisions. Roseanne was out of line here.
A Star Is Born (2018)
I Really Wanted To Like It......
The first 35 minutes was great but it all went downhill from there. Cooper didn't display the proper way to do time jumps and the pacing, dialog and entire storyline had some major issues. Their relationship felt forced and didn't allow enough development for the viewer to buy in with these two in their marriage. The only thing they ever talk about is music. I'd expect some actual real life conversations to come up once in a while but they didn't.
Gaga does a nice job acting but her Botox screwed up any emotion she was sincerely trying to portray to the audience. It was truly painful to watch her try. The music scenes and concerts were done in A+ fashion but the rest of it gets a D+/C-.
I really wanted to like this film but the second act really lost adequate pacing, dialog, and character development. It was just depressing to watch.
American Horror Story: The End (2018)
Corny So Far
I really was excited for this season to see the Murder House/Coven mashup but haven't seen the connection quite yet.. So far, the dialog seems super forced, rushed, and corny as ever. It's only the first episode so far so I'll give it time but I am confused on what exactly is going on. Giving it a chance but the writing is lacking more than usual so far. The script just feels odd many times throughout with cheesy misplaced lines.
PROS: Cool costumes and aesthetics
CONS: Pacing, dialog, and general story direction
Great start with first 10 minutes but I'm just not entirely sold.....yet.
The Nice Guys (2016)
Did they pay you guys to give this high ratings?
I was really looking forward to seeing this film, especially for the great duo, Crowe and Gosling that have never disappointed but man.... This film sure was a massive disappointment. A few of you wrote you were somewhat confused as to the direction of the plot and I can assure you, you're not alone. Comedic relief didn't hold up against this disaster. We almost walked out but stayed in hopes it would get better. I have no idea where all these great reviews and ratings are coming from. Were we watching the same film?
Please don't waste your time, money or the 2 hours of your life to see this in the theater. I am actually surprised Gosling would choose this horrendous script to work with, although his acting was on par and more than decent, it wasn't enough to save this tragic POS from itself. I'm shocked this is something Shane Black would write. I love his films but he missed the mark on this one, sadly.
The comedy was trying hard to carry through but never quite caught on and most of the time felt entirely out of place. The young girl playing Gosling's daughter did a very nice job but the rest of the acting fell so far below any expectation I had for this film.
This is my first review here. I will start writing more and I really wanted to like this film but it was absolutely terrible and not the least bit entertaining.
