Righteous Kill (2008)
What it's like?
I started my collegiate career in Criminal Justice at the University of Houston Downtown. I thought I could help my community. I thought I would work with others who "care". I wanted to make a difference.
This movie hit me in places in my soul that I forgot existed. A young woman with stars in her eyes and a heart to care for others more than she did for her own life and safety. A girl who would give up her life to make a better world for others.
During classes, I saw that those others would kill cops like me without a second thought. In fact, it was cops exactly like me who ended up dead by those they were seeking to help.
The long term prognosis for being a cop never turns out okay. At the end of the career, after the watch has been given...you go off to what? Coffee and newspapers at the local IHOP where Marjorie brings you your eggs. Then you go home and what? Be alone...go to sleep alone, watch TV alone, eat dinner alone and try not to remember what you saw over your career. Well, yes, if you are lucky.
Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro...they are some kind of actors...actors who tell the stories written by writers about people most of us will never know. People living their lives each moment the best they can. This movie shows how incredibly complex this life is...Makes me wonder about the cop sitting across from me at Starbuck's...he doesn't know that we may have seen the same documentaries about the vocation. He went on to put on the badge, I went on to process debits and credits. I am posting to general ledger and he processes perpetrators on a daily basis.
This is another aspect of this movie...when you are judgmental you always make the wrong call. What is reality? What decision is the best decision? How to you make the best decision when you have seconds to decide? How do you judge on the street, all hours of the morning to prevent crime of just take a report of the crime in the after math? Can you stop a train from going off the tracks when that train is YOU?
It's torture but it is a fabulous, fabulous movie. Thank you to Robert DeNiro, 50 Cent, and Al Pacino along with every single person who helped to make this movie a reality. I applaud you. You made me remember an aspect of me that I forgot ever existed; Poets are dangerous. Well Done.
Obsessed (2009)
Great Story - Timeless!!
One of the best things about a great story is it NEVER goes out of style.....girls, girls, and husbands...
This is one way path for how this type of story unfurls - it's really AMAZING!!! I am NOT biased! If that was what you were thinking - like some scandalous, psycho went after my man and I had to check that relentless female sub-human!!
Another thing, Mr. Alba did a great job "Derek01" and "TEMP-GIRL" on chat was so priceless! I haves seen this going on in a lot of offices between colleagues... It is so true!! The views of the city were really very beautiful... the entire architecture in this film is beautiful, tranquil and opulent...Sexy...
To wrap it up: I loved the story, loved the acting...just as great today as it was in 2009 - Timeless and awesome!!!
Se7en Below (2012)
It's all in the edit...
This was a great movie although the house itself is too modern for the premise of this story. I love the idea of this story...mainly because I like filling in holes and trying to "see" what the writer is trying to say.
As for the main characters, I HATED Val Kilmer to the utmost which is where the writers were trying to go. Val Kilmer's character is the antagonist in the present as well as 100 years ago. I really enjoyed Ving Rhames;s performance - this story was his story and should have been told from his perspective.
As for the rest of the characters, they were really much too comfortable in a "stranger's" home, way too comfortable. In the end, as Ving Rhames put all the pieces together the (fill in the blank) thought it would be fabulous to write him out...too bad...Rule One: Never kill the Source or the one who knows all.
Nothing is perfect, but this story was ruined by "a lot of ego, greed and stupidity". Most true artwork lives a tragic life and "7 Below" is not exempt.
Where can I get the Director's Cut? Also, where are the features feature on the DVD? Has the Editor of the final cut been haunted into oblivion yet? Were the accents on "Courtney" and the "Dr." REALLY needed?
Hart's War (2002)
Valor Yet Lives
I was dismayed to find that this movie was not a blockbuster back in 2002. I myself did not watch it in that year due to Enron imploding and the appointment of W by the Supreme Court as President of the USA. Irregardless, today is the day I watched "Hart's War" and I am "appalled" that this movie has not been re-released.
That is my recommendation: "Hart's War" should be re-released
This is an important piece of work that should be seen by the American public, especially with President Obama as the leader of the free world. This movie is a powerful reminder that although so many Americans believe in the motto of "Use or be used"; there are many more who believe in the humanity of their fellow men. There are yet some Americans who are not motivated by money or power but by honor.
This is my recommendation: Re-Release "Hart's War"
