Dark Angel (2000)
I've been a fan since it was on the air
I was a fan when it was on the air originally from 2000-2002. Had to set the VCR to record it if I couldn't be home!
I think we can all agree that the show is uneven in its quality of writing, but shows back then had such bloated seasons so they could have 24-28 episodes. Some were bound to be cheap with poorer scripts. However, when Dark Angel was good it was really really good!
The world and country dynamic that was created in this short two seasons was amazing, fun, sad and surprisingly still so relevant today! Half the fun of the show is this dark dystopia of America long before the Hunger Games made dystopians popular. The style of the show and the depictions of Americans in poverty while the rich watch and laugh is even more relevant in our culture 24 years later.
When the show is great its great. Both season finales are phenomenal, the characters are well written and likeable. The only downsides is its only two seasons and of course the dated production value is now laughable, but can't change that, and actually it was ahead of its time in 2000!
Digimon Adventure (2020)
Totally missing the charm and quality of the original.
I watched the original when it was first airing. It was a great mix of character development, serialized storytelling and strong villains. Truly original for the time. This new reboot has none of that charm, it meanders and drags out stories. All the character development is gone, the characters spend less than half of the series together and don't grow as a team the same way we loved in the original.
I know I am solely basing this rating off of how this compares to the original, maybe that isn't fair but IMO if you're going to reboot something it should end up better than the original This isn't even close.
Witnesses (2021)
Not factual in so many ways
I can't believe some reviewers ase calling this factual in any way. It really proves that Mormons don't know their own history other than the sugar coated stories they're told as children.
This movie is not historically accurate, it's more fan fiction which would be fine but it claims to be accurate.
