Too too much
4 October 2023
A good video game perhaps, but it strains imagination at this point, too many deaths, too many Continental Hotels, too many great fighters in them. I could not believe what kind of a world we would be living in with the thousands of assassins that are staying at these hotels, not to mention there are other cities besides five that have Continental Hotels, how about Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, then Africa having Egypt, thus Cairo. Kenya, South Africa, let's not forget South America and Mexico. We have violence enough in this world, so I am really disappointed in Keanu Reeves for taking the fantasy too far, in retrospect, the original was enough. We are really over ran with continuing sagas, it's like it's all professional wrestling, Seen it, only so many times can you see it again, just changing the title slightly.

Don't feel bad if you missing.

The story had potential, but was poorly written. It is ridiculous that Charles has an English accent and his father doesn't. He is supposed to be in real estate, but doesn't work, spends 10s of thousands. So search a little further. I like Jack Whitehall, but this is poorly cast, should have made it a British cast , had Jack Whitehall speak with an American accent, or cast an American. Just not what they have done here. I have seen the same producers making the same types of errors and yet cannot figure out why their products get such horrible reviews. The idea of having to use a certain number of characters to review here is certainly a way to make a review boring.

What was the point?
16 February 2023
What a huge disappointment, the story line was somewhere between non existant and nonsensical. The resolution was too easy to not have been a non starter kin the first place. The acting and effects were great, but showing what you are capable of doing just to spend millions of dollars is not entertainment. The movie as entertainment was one star. To keep the money going into that ever deep pit super hero movies seem to love throwing more fuel into, it seems they have opened the door to try another , I for one think it should end here, because that kind of sucked! Now I have to add thirty four more characters to publish.

Good stuff
19 October 2022
Not a great movie, has too many side stories, but it is a fun watch. I avoided it for a long time, it gets a lot of air time on TV. Very Canadian, the actors, the cameos, the advertising on the boards, and of course the hockey. I did find myself fast forwarding a lot of the singing. Liked that feature of almost all Canadians. There was, at least to my being a hockey fan, a lack of understanding of the game. Would like to have had more of the trivia that usually accompanies reviews, just one bad one news article. Did ALL of the actors do their own singing, did they do their own skating and playing hockey?

NO MORE!

What a huge bore. Special effects but nothing more. 8 year Olds see the inconsistencies in the storyline. Ends leabing the door open for more. Come On, you can do better.

Not the quality of Lord of the Rings

I know Peter Jackson wanted to leave nothing out, but he had almost unlimited time and money because of LOTR, and he seems simply to spend money because he can. He edges from the story at times and adds musical numbers uselessly. It is a splendid opportunity spoiled in telling more tale than necessary.

Ugh
5 February 2022
Bruce Willis, never a great actor, but famous, made a lot of money, seems to now believe he is a Midas of movies. Another one to dodge. The trivia says he shot all his scenes in one day, probably one hour of that day. I think he is sick of the business he is in, he should retire. He pulls down everything he is in, although not much would have saved this, maybe a better writer, certainly a better director, movie socks the life out of being a fan of streaming.

Left wanting
4 February 2022
Looks like somebody decided they can do this incredibly successful on the cheap, trying to be more than it is. Following the story fairly well, but presenting it so poorly. Music is mismatched to the scenes and the story. I am such a fan, I feel bad watching this dog's breakfast. Maybe it is like a car accident and I can't look away, or hope it will find a way. It is filmed in Canada, like The Stand, I am a proud Canadian, but to shoot these big movies turning them into cheap serials like 1940's cliff hangers when Amazon has the bucks to do it right.

About time we had a good movie.
12 January 2022
It is a GOOD movie. It's not a great one, but with all that is out there deserves an Academy Award. More money than ever being spent on movies, including Amazon that put this out. But as we all can see, loads of money does not, a good movie make. The acting was incredible, cudos to George Clooney, he pulls something worthwhile out of everyone. I would gladly tell anyone to watch this movie, and I will.

What a fiasco!
12 January 2022
Pointless, followed by poor storyline, wooden acting from Elizabeth Olsen, she can be so much better. Paul Bettany is okay, Teyonah Parris and Randall Park shine, Kat Dennings is always beautiful but they had her still doing 2 Broke Girls. So lousy writing, and since it's a director's medium Matt Shakman needs more education, less budget.

Billy Crystal is great, Tiffany Haddish shows an incredible future as an actor, she is divine in this heart wrenching movie. I am almost exactly the same age as Billy Crystal and this really hit home for me, as well as my relationship with my kids. Lots of kleenex required.

What was that
29 October 2021
There were times the storyline completely evaded me. I watched the whole thing. My wife went to bed to read, I tried to tell her about the movie, but in mentally reviewing it, I have no idea of the whys, the wherefore, or who was what, sister and wife? Wife pretending to be sister perhaps, who was dead. Not a good movie, Waste your time with a book.

Good until it wasn't.

Why the director thought he was paying tribute to Stanley Kubrick by writing his own ending is unanswerable. No homage happened, and he ruined a perfectly solid story from the best selling author in the world. I can't give any storyline here, but it is easy to see why it died at the box office. What a shame, had me enjoying it 10 stars worth and then?

Come on!
19 July 2021
How did this guy get any writing or directing gigs? More importantly why is he getting more? Why is Bruce Willis? Had more questions, but that is a better summary, I watched all of Breach, they owe 1 hrs 32 min, now add 37 more minutes because I am not investing anymore time into this sad duo. I thought no matter how brainless the plots at least Willis entertained, not anymore. Retire already if you don't want to work. You couldn't land Moonlighting if you got the shot and the youth somehow.

An insult to movie paying public!

The question asked at the end of writing the review is are there any spoilers, I will answer no, but it has spoiled my evening and any future hope of a GOOD Bruce Willis movie.

Seems unsure of what it is?
17 July 2021
The dialogue and story mostly seems aimed at a youth market, yet the true storyline and very violent interactions, even without loads of bloodshed are quite adult. It has actors in it I really like and admire, Christoph Waltz,Mahershala Ali, Jennifer Connelly, and the always wonderful Jackie Earle Haley, directed by Robert Rodriguez, produced and written by James Cameron, but the character Alita still looks like a cartoon creation. Walks right, moves in the action scenes perfectly, but close ups just don't cut it. Give her a more human look, as she is a cyborg able to fool people until they see her complete body with all things being mechanical. As a viewer we should be just as fooled as those she is supposedly interacting with. Two years after its' release and I think it is fixable, save that 200 million dollar investment, and open the door to expanding the series, 30 years of material to draw on and you have this being a franchise instead of an oops!

LIKE DRIVING PAST AN ACCIDENT
14 June 2021
This movie sucks, spent big money on names, cars and effects. Should have got decent direction because this thing just wanders around, you keep waiting for it to somehow pull together, it doesn't! No small wonder the actors distanced themselves from this turkey. Save your time 1hr 45 minutes you could read a comic book that makes more sense.

Potential
26 November 2020
The storyline was good, the acting held up, the actual writing was weak, or perhaps the director needs more polish. One thing for sure the music sucked, too much electronic mish mash and way too loud! Found myself constantly adjusting the volume, up for dialogue down for music. I list my wife 5 minutes into episode 1 because of the music. She closed the doir if my tv room and the bedroom door.
