Is it too much to ask?
25 January 2021
Twenty minutes into the movie I realized that I didn't know where it was going and that it gave me not enough clues to be ever figured out. But I kept on watching Rampling. Enjoying every moment of it.

Is it too much to ask for a plot?

You will visit the mind and soul of a convicted killer. You will do so safely and without fear. This is what happens when a great documentarian gets behind a camera.

I loved it! Sweet, romantic, quirky, and painful at times. Just like in real life. Bonuses are the amazing cast, and based on real life stories.

Life in Purgatory.

Warning: Spoilers
I'm very impressed by the children's acting in early episodes of season 1. Like many who posted reviews, I was also hooked and intrigued by My Brilliant Friend, but unfortunately by episode 4, I became tired and bored with the incessant repetition of screaming, violence, and misunderstandings. I know there's a good story here, I just think it shouldn't take this long to tell it.

Good Plot. Well acted. 10 episodes leading to a nice ending

I loved Homecoming! It keeps you guessing almost in a state of paranoia but then the plot slowly starts to unravel itself (around episode 5). Stylish cinematography, although the blurred screen borders took alway some of the visual details. Julia Roberts ( her wig was a bit distracting) did a great job in a non romantic role. It was very enjoyable, well worth the wait.

My respect to the actors. Clearly they did their best. Perhaps this series looked better on paper at the time they agreed to undertake it.

Melancholia (2011)
Haunting
19 November 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I had no idea that nearly a month after I watched this movie, I would still be haunted by it. Impressive story, amazing acting, sound and beautiful cinematography.

The movie opens with Francine's (Dunst) vision or dream of the end of the world. Francine has the ability to see the future ("I know these things"). This fact is exemplified by a successful career in advertising, and guessing the exact number of beads in the jar. She went through with her wedding, but refused to create an attachment to her husband. Instead, on her wedding reception she quits her job, has sex with a stranger, and sends her husband home, preferring to spend the honeymoon with her parents. And that is just it: Francine is fearful of the impending doom of Earth, but makes peace with her fate, giving herself to Melancholia in the nude scene.

I loved this movie, even though I still think about it and catch myself watching the sky once in a while.
