Why dont people know about this show!!!
You know those shows you cant believe you never watched but when you finally do they are GREAT!! This is one of them. Just so funny. You will fall in love with Amell. He has the comedic talent I haven't seen in his brother so far.
You may come for the laughs but the insightful social commentary puts this show on the same thoughy provoking tech gone bad journey as Black Mirror. I love how that we see a vision of the future that does not look at all unlikely. The writers incorporate this world building in the plot without sounding like they are making a public service announcement. This show is not getting the buzz it deserves.
Westworld (2016)
What on earth happened?
I'd like to pretend that after season one ended as a master piece and a new horrible series stole the name for their show. Is someone's nephew writing this show? I feel for these actors. Someone is trying to punish them by making them recite these lines.
Shining Girls (2022)
Wow Apple does it again
I was riveted by Severance, but now this has me mesmerized. I dont know how but the quality of sci fi television keeps getting better and better and keep seeing new and new concepts. Every episode I'm saying outloud, "WTF" and I'm still interested to watch without understanding at all what going on.
Outer Range (2022)
Tired of the same ol Sci Fi
Wow. Just when I thougth I'd had scene everything trope they could come up with in Sci Fi this show comes along. Wow just wow. Never appreciated Brolin as an actor until this show.
The Batman (2022)
Ehhhh
The cinematography was fantastic. I thought the score to the movie was great. If only Pattinson gave a performance that made you feel in any way emotional invested in his character this might have been a great movie. The writing was not at all the same witty banter I enjoy from marvel movies, but given the gritty mood of the movie it kind of worked. The movie is visually stunning, but there simply is no character in this movie that you ever care about. Wish I knew enough about the art of movie making to know what was "missing", but something definitely is missing.
12 Monkeys (2015)
Haven't written a review in so long.
The science behind the time travel has some "press the I believe button" moments but the storyline and the motivations of all the characters are totally believable. The actors portrayed their characters with heart , and the writing displays wisdom that spans centuries of human philosophers and authors. This show constantly asks the audience to ask the fundamental question of human existence, ,"In the end, what really matters?" The lead actress looks like Barbie. I'm ashamed I typed casted her as a airhead blond. She has no problem putting her soul on display which was absolutely necessary for me to believe that the stakes in the plot are so high. Yes in the end its a love story, but it's one of the best I've seen.
His Dark Materials (2019)
I tried really hard to like this series
I was waiting for this premier based on all the media hype and the intriguing preview trailers. I did'nt finish the golden compass movie nor have I read the books. I was very disappointed with the first three episodes and cant bring myself to watch anymore. These actors and actresses are absolutely first rate. I've seen them in movie and TV masterpieces so it is NOT a failure in casting or acting. I guess this is a directing issue or an editing failure because the series has squirm worthy scenes that just cant allow me to suspend my reality and enter the world presented. I'm starting to distrust IMBD ratings since this one is still so high. I kept watching trying to see if I was missing something and I realize I'm not.
The Witcher (2019)
Wow. Another Freakin great show I have to wait another year for!!
I didn't know anything about this series, the books or the previous television adaptations before I watched this Netflix version. When I saw the trailer and the teaser images I had my doubts with Henry Cavill as the main character. Cavill is certainly eye candy, but I didn't think he could pull off a TV series if his looks were degraded with yellow eyes and white hair. I was wrong. The series is brilliant and Cavill is surprisingly watchable because of so many great characters that play off of his gruff character. The character Yennefer absolutely makes this series for me. I love how all these characters have immense power yet are incredibly vulnerable. The story telling is absolutely great. I have watched the series twice to understand how everything fits neatly together in this first season. It doesn't feel its on the huge scale of Game of Thrones, (I'm not sure why), but you wont be disappointed.
Jack Ryan (2018)
So bad I cant even get through the first episode of the Season 2!!
I have been waiting, and waiting for Season 2 because season 1 was sooo good. What the FREAK happpened!!! From now on I will understand why it takes so long to get the next season of my Favorite TV shows. If this show's excuse for being sooooooooo bad was because it was rushed PLEASE next time just ignore us and produce a product as good or better than your last. UGGHH this Season 2 is so so worse than the worst shows I've seen. Its the same cast of characters and actors so is it the EDITING OR THE WRITING.
The King (2019)
Timothy Chalamet. Wow!
This is not an action flick. This is a dialogue flick that requires the audience to listen and THINK. The movie also requires enormous talent from the actors to deliver the dialogue with the absolute highest authenticity. With the exception of Robert Pattison's accent which cuts into his authenticity, this movie is perfection. Timothy Chalamet is absolutely incredible. I saw this slight, small boy and thought. "How could he possible inspire leadership." His acting portrays a MAN in a boys body who commands respect. I've never seen anything like it. I could feel the burden of being 15th century royalty and the conflict between this king's desire to to be good with his need to be strong. Anyone who values a cerebral "historical" film will walk away spellbound.
Lost in Space (2018)
Why on Earth is there so much hate for this TV show?
This TV show is DAMN good. I also am a fan of Altered Carbon, Black Mirror, Dark, and Game of Thrones ect. ect. Why this tv series this isn't up there with those shows review ratings is beyond me.The writing is great, the science is great and the acting is great. I care about the characters and I love the chemistry among them. Glad I ignored the reviews. And The 100 is rated higher than this?
2036 Origin Unknown (2018)
This is like watching a play hence the negative reviews.
Im not sure it felt like a play. I guess because there are only a few characters with a very limited set. You have to suspend reality much like you do in live theatre. That said, the and questions and concepts presented are very thought provoking. Katie Sackoff doesnt seem to have any emotions other than disgust or panic soI loved the content more than the acting. This is a thought experiment. Is God an AI program evaluator that lets us go to heaven if we are acceptable?
The Expanse (2015)
Just wow!! How is this not ranked higher on IMBD?.
If you have a deep love of sci fi you have to watch this series. It doesn't have the characters you fall in love with like BSG or Firefly. However, the thought experiment of what society will look like after inhabiting other planets and how humans will react when we encounter evidence of alien life is thoroughly flushed out.
