Watchmen (2019)
Blue lives?
Quite a talented cast, very interesting writing. There's gonna be a lot to analyse with this show. For example, apparently, when fully distanced from "their enemies'" actions, the dangers of being a cop are now fully apparent to me.
Electric Dreams: Kill All Others (2018)
The worst episode of this great series.
He represents this broad notion of the "good man". I get it. But dear god. Speak up! Honesty! Woman in trouble! This man is the dumbest one-dimensional character in this entire season. I nearly found myself rooting for the "other" side, His lawfully abiding, good-citizen, wife did nothing to deserve this. What did he expect? I'll leave that for the philosophers/psychiatrists. No rational human being, with any sense of self-awareness or preservation, would DO THE THINGS HE DOES.
Euphoria (2019)
This hits too close to home.
I keep having to leave the living room. I messed up a family member this way and it's never been the same. This is raw. This is unpleasantly personal. I almost want the ridiculous 80's HS instead. I can't believe enough people had these same experiences that a show like this would even be on HBO...with THIS cast?
The Rook (2019)
I'll finish it, but please read the book.
I've just realized how difficult it would be to bring the book as a whole to the small screen. You can make an endangered show for the fans or craft a semblance of the material for public interest. I think they've done a good job of the latter. I just miss the culled characters and storylines. Can see the direction they're on and, hopefully, the constant exposition and 5 minutes spent wandering the apartment were the foundation for the increasing exciting pace of a great story.
Years and Years: Episode 4 (2019)
"What colour is she?"
In many ways this show's future is just a continuation of the realities of millions of people. This story plays out everyday. It's just been brought closer to home. Television is meant to be this vulnerable.
Black Mirror: Striking Vipers (2019)
Surprisingly straightforward ending
Through a "possible" Matrix/Snapchat gender-bending filter of the future, the blurring of bro culture and pornography leads to a truly new form of escapism.
Bonding (2018)
Clever, Humorous, No Nudity & definitely MA
A project involving antics like these, with satisfying performances, while maintaining a sense of authenticity is a challenge. But they've managed it.
The Twilight Zone: Nightmare at 30,000 Feet (2019)
Loved the ending
See? This is why you don't leave stuff from the future around.
Love, Death & Robots: Helping Hand (2019)
R-rated Gravity
I would have just died honestly. Then sued someone.
The Order (2019)
The Magicians knockoff
I'm not going to leave a malicious review. Variety IS the spice of life. I've watched more confounding displays of parody in my time. But an eh, from me still.
Capharnaüm (2018)
I am so mad.
I don't know if I should be more aware of the privileges in my life going forward or drug out into the street and shot.
Cold Pursuit (2019)
Not even a D film
Various...species, honestly, parodying Quinton Tarantino movies.
If Beale Street Could Talk (2018)
Unevenly baked
Superb acting, excellent script, beautiful cinematography, great cast, and all of it in this lackluster film. Something got lost in the math.
Escape Room (2019)
Engaging
The actors paved the way for excellent twists and turns. Except the ending. It was ehh. I'd probably see a sequel. They're not going to make one.
