True Grit (2010)
Slingblade Meets Mary Sue
Jeff Bridges plays Billy Bob Thornton playing Karl Childers playing John Wayne.
Matt Damon play a person in the movie.
The role of Mary Sue is played by a Haille Steindfeld.
The audience is left wondering why.
A Mary Sue is a character archetype in fiction, usually a young woman, who is often portrayed as inexplicably competent across all domains, gifted with unique talents or powers, liked or respected by most other characters, unrealistically free of weaknesses, extremely attractive, innately virtuous, and/or generally lacking meaningful character flaws.
As John Wayne once said, "Looking back is a bad habit.". This movie looks back.
Dragon Day (2013)
Terribly Awful
An awfully terrible movie with bad acting, bad writing, and bad editing. It's so bad it's awful. It's worse than.
Kong: Skull Island (2017)
Horrible
This movie is so bad. The humor fails, the tension fails, the CGI fails. The only good thing about this movie is that that it's over. Don't watch it - it will ruin your day.
Star Trek: The Next Generation: Journey's End (1994)
Worst Plot Twist Ever
This is the first review I've written of ST:TNG and I hate that I am motivated by the worst that this series has to offer.
I have been watching the episodes on Netflix, in order, over the past several weeks. Season 7 is the worst season, and episode 20, Journey's End, is the worst of the worst. There are a few other episodes that typically rank near the bottom, but for me this one takes the cake.
Why? Because, out of nowhere, Wesley can stop time. And then start it again. With his mind.
Yeah, you read that right. It's a completely ridiculous plot point that serves no purpose except to get rid of Wesley, which they could have done any number of ways that wouldn't have involved him stopping and starting time.
If zero stars were an option, I would have given this zero stars.
Sunshine (2007)
Almost
for the first hour or so I thought I was watching the successor to "2010: A Space Odyssey". Then there was a madman with Freddy skin who caused the camera to lose focus and the whole thing just unraveled. It's a real shame, too, because with the story line and cinematography on display for the first 2/3 of this film it could have been great. I could still see clear to give this movie a 7 or even an 8, but the disappointment found in the conclusions outweighs the good will created previously. Having said all that, so-called true fans of science fiction will enjoy this movie and I do recommend it to those of you who enjoy the genre enough to sit through some of the real duds out there. If you like sci-fi, you will enjoy this movie.
America: Freedom to Fascism (2006)
biased falsehoods
First of all, The ruling in EISNER vs. MACOMBER is misrepresented. Secondly, the quote from Clinton about individual rights is taken out of context and misrepresents the complete quote. These deceptions are both clearly done with and intent to mislead and misrepresent the facts. Please understand that I wish I could give this film a higher rating, but if we are ever to eliminate the income tax and the federal reserve system we will only do so by sticking to the facts. You can review the case here and read for yourself how "income" was defined. http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/cgi- bin/getcase.pl?court=us&vol=252&invol=189
