Fracture (2007)

Rather disappointing

I was not very pleased with this film when I went to see it yesterday. Anthony Hopkins delivers a mediocre performance for his standards. He may have looked better if he was playing a different sort of character. As he has portrayed the 'smart guy tricking the law' so many times, a slightly below average performance quickly becomes tired and unsatisfying.

Ryan Gosling did not impress me much either. I have not seen any of his previous films, but on the strength of this I probably will not bother. His character (along with many parts of the film) was terribly clichéd and predictable. At no point did his actions surprise me, and his cocky lawyer personality did not endear me to him at all.

Overall, in my opinion, Fracture tried too hard to be clever, without ever really getting there. The 'denouement' at the end of the film was a big let-down and ultimately, I left the cinema unsatisfied.

Karate Cop (1991)

underrated ..........

I thought that this film was AMAZING! While I realise that this will not be everyone's cup of tea, my friends and I rented it expecting exactly what it was. The name "Karate Cop" sums it up to be honest. You can't expect the film to be that serious.

It's an action film, not a documentary so don't expect anything clever or witty. Just expect some good action and some very cheesy lines and you'll be happy as Larry.
