Bad Banks (2018–2020)
10/10
Another excellent German TV series in recent times
4 March 2018
When my friend suggested me Bad Banks knowing I'm a finance professional who might like it, I reluctantly started watching it thinking of another traditional German TV-Drama; ended up binged all six episodes eventually! Bad Banks is another addition to the excellent German TV productions in recent times along with 'Dark', and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The acting is great, along with a perfectly paced story without stretching it too much like other TV shows. The production quality is top notch and one of the best in recent times, even better than 'Dark' IMHO. My only issue was the lead actress who appeared to be too young sometimes for this role (she's just 23 IRL), even though her acting was great. Overall, a highly enjoyable show and it's a 9.5/10 from me!

Children... (2011)
9/10
You feel, you cry...another awesome Korean beauty!!
11 January 2014
When is the last time you cried after watching a thriller, especially if you talk about Korean thrillers? I can't remember that much. Korean thrillers have their reputations for being extremely violent, gruesome, weird and incredibly natural at the same time. But a thriller without all these? Then watch Children, you'll find the answer.

I watched it 2 years back for the first time and now again; and again that empty feelings!! The story is based on the true events of disappearance of five children in year 1991 in South Korea, mystery of which has never been solved. The cinema started right from the disappearance of the children. Then it becomes convoluted and intense as the story progress with some incredibly well direction and superb acting.

What'll you do if your kids are missing? That, you'll start believing everyone's words; doesn't matter it's a hoax or not, you just want your kids back at any costs. Throughout the whole movie, you'll feel the pain of the parents and you'll wait eagerly to know what really happened to the children.

The storytelling is exceptionally well throughout the whole movie. The acting is equally superb, especially the Psycho professor; but every single person depicted their role incredibly well which looks fairly natural. You'll always feel that you're witnessing an events, not a movie.

This one is highly recommended for the Korean thriller lovers, especially if you like other awesome thrillers like Memories of a Murder, The Chaser, Mother, Oldboy etc. There's not so much graphic violence or bloods in this movie like the others have, but that can't prevent you from the thrill. And at the end, you'll definitely feel something in your eyes!!

Midnight FM (2010)
8/10
A suspenseful thriller without having gruesome violence of its kind !!
16 February 2012
Korean movies are constantly gaining popularity among the cinema lovers in recent times especially if you talk about brutal crime thrillers. Korean thrillers have their popularity for being weird, gruesome, violent but surprisingly natural at the same time. Midnight FM is another addition in that genre. I have watched many Korean thrillers in recent times which are filled with extreme violence and bloods, but Midnight FM seemed to be an exception. Ofcourse, bloods and killings are still there, but you will never feel disturbed or stomach cramp while watching this one, rather pure suspense will keep your neck high.

Apart from some other awesome Korean thrillers like The Chaser, I saw the Devil or The Yellow Sea, I can compare this one with the recent release Children(2011) for relying on pure suspense instead of extreme violence or blood. I thoroughly enjoyed this one, even though I didn't have much expectation. A must watch for all Korean thriller lovers.
