Knock at the Cabin (2023)
Religious Propaganda!
I was very excited for this one and was very dissapointed. It lacked all the cool stuff know in movies made my M. Night. Actors were very good and was the only reason I didnt walk out. Self irony is very lost on the makers of this movie, whom somehow thinks all the bad things that happen is somehow righteous, in the end. They are not. No spoilers here as I want as many people as possible to be warned about the "message" in this movie. The religious propaganda in this movie is very gross and frustrating. I thought very highly of Bautista and now all is lost as all the good he does comes with a selfish motive.
Dune (2021)
Almost ten!
The only problem with this movie is that it should clearly be rated r, but its not hence its so noticeable and it really takes you away from the movie. The language used to the killing and stabbing. Everything looks fake as they really go out of their way to not show any blood or use swear words. Its really pretentious, sad and pathetic, as it takes you out of the movie everytime there's a fight scene.
Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)
Meh
If Fincher would have made this staring Cohen it would have been a masterpiece!
Now it's just meh... I saw it and will never watch it again. Below average movie. I mean its not bad it's just meh, nothing special. Surviving members are said to dislike Fincher and Cohen because they wanted to make a Mercury movie but the members wanted a Queen movie. It's just that Bohemian Rhapsody is a mercury movie! He's in like 95%!
A Simple Favor (2018)
Excellent first 60%
Really enjoyed this movie to about half way, I actually thought this is a cool 9 so far and that's rare! However then it was ruined so I gave it a boring 7.
This is where it was ruined, when they brought in the twin, and here's why. In the end they had a plan she would confess and shoot her husband ok maybe they didn't foresee that but they sure should have. And as Harry said in Dumb and Dumber "What if he shot me in the head?" A risk Sean the husband was willing to take? I don't think so.
They should have had Blake want to leave that life and make sure her husband and son had Kendrick to fall on, then go find a stray that looked like her, have her tattooed and then kill her and after that pay a visit to the coroner and have him sign off that its her and then she would have gone back and have her husband give her 1 million and then just gone away. Well maybe not like that, but I'm not a writer, but it sure would have been better then some twin or triplet story.
Peppermint (2018)
Terrible movie
Filled with cliches. I can not believe this movie has the same director as Taken. Taken did have Luc Besson to babysit Morel. This movie is filled with unbelievable Faux pas. There's the 555 number and completely unrealistic events. Also copying many movies like Fight Club where they look at a guys license and says "do the right thing, I'll be watching". If Michael Mann was dead he would roll over in his grave if he saw this sh**.
Westworld: Les Écorchés (2018)
Terrible director
I've been binge watching season 2 and it's been good, but watching number 7 was just very strange I thought something is off. The feel, the music, the sounds and even the acting is different. I believe the difference is caused by the director Nicole Kassell that is the only variable that has changed. This is the only episode she directed in season 2 and hopefully the last episode she directs. I have spoken!
Sicario: Day of the Soldado (2018)
An ok job by Sollima
This can't compete with the likes of Villeneuve directing, and thats because I think Sollima took too much liberties with the script by Sheridan. He also had that 555 number in there (what a douche) I mean it did have a hyphen in there, but still. Don't get me wrong this is not a train wreck like Olivier Megaton did with the Taken franchice after Besson. But still it came short. I hope Taylor Sheridan Directs the next one!
Hereditary (2018)
555?
Ari Aster, why in the name of mother fu** would you put in the 555 number in a horror movie where you spend most of the movie building up tension? You made a great movie and I was all in and very excited and then the number 555 pops up and took me out of the entire movie and ruined it. Why would you put so much effort into a movie and then ruin it with this amateur stuff? If you want to show a number just smudge one number out or have something block a part of the number in this case like a mug. Or heres an idea, just dont show it. The 555 number appears twice in this movie. I would have given this movie a 9 but gave a 6 because of that number.
The Man from Earth: Holocene (2017)
So sad
Richard,
Listen, have you ever heard less is more? Jerome Bixby used this rule with the first one and hit it out of the park! You made a great movie with his writing! And now you ruined it.
This movie would have been so much better, if you only had one student who started inquiring about him. That asian chick. She alone could have gone out to visit the people from the first one. I really would have liked to see Tony Todd in it also. Anyway it was barely watchable dude and that scene at the end with the FBI agent? WTF was that? No, man, just no.
American Assassin (2017)
This was meh. It made one BIG mistake, Huge!
The mistake is that, for some reason you have to know the all the intricacies about bad guy and what makes him tick and that my friends is bulls**t. It's so stupid and such cringe worthy bad writing! It's like when Jack Bauers brother became the bad guy and then his dad! (I guess they just didn't find anyone closer to him). The fact that Michael Keaton was the "father figure" of the bad guy is just so, so bad. SO BAD! I had to say it again, just had to. If the bad guy would have just been some random dude with a motive we don't get to know!! it would have been so much better! <- I know that is some awful review writing from me, but I'm from Finland and I know its bad, so...
Taken 3 (2014)
Megatron should not be directing movies
I do not know where to start. Taken 1 was Brilliant! Taken 2 was bad. Taken 3 bad.
The premise is worth for **** just like Taken 2. They are such amateurs that they make the husband of Lenny the bad guy?! That and extremely bad editing and camera movement made this close to a B movie. Also there are so many stupid choices! I will limit them to 10.
1. When they mention phone numbers with 555 it takes people out of the movie experience. That is a stupid move and the first reason Olivier shouldn't be directing ****.
2. Mills randomly shows strangers picture of his daughter.
3. When they block logos with stickers it takes people out of the movie experience. That is a stupid move and the second reason Olivier shouldn't be directing ****.
4. Police predict Kimmy will take the bugged sweater and use it for days so they can listen.
5. Audi is labeled A8 in the police report when that car does not exist. It is a R8. (not a big deal, but you are making a multi million dollar movie you should not make stupid mistakes like that.
6. What is it with Megatron and his boner for beeping computers. Computers do not beep when lights flash. Idiot.
7. Security cameras do not have blinking red lights on them and definitely not BEEPING noises! Idiot!
8. Ex CIA operatives do not let arms dealers stand freely in situation rooms.
9. Phones do not randomly beep indicating there is an airport near you.
10. Brian Mills would never let Lenny be married to an arms dealer. Olivier would know this if he had bothered to watch the brilliant Taken 1 before ruining the franchise.
To sum up I highly recommend everyone who watches Taken 2 and or 3 to do so as independent movies without any connection to Taken 1. Olivier Megaton should not be making movies of this caliber. He should not be making movies at all. I do not understand why Luc Besson has EVER ALLOWED THIS ABOMINATION to make sequels to his movies.
Taken 2 (2012)
Very good
I did enjoy watching this. Having said that
I had 4 issues with it.
1. Why did Besson change directors after the huge success of the first one? That was a VERY BAD MOVE.
2. Why don't the Albanians talk Albanian in the movie like they did in the first one. That was a huge mistake and took away of the reality for me.
3. The movie was 7/10
4. Taken 1 had you hooked from the first second to the last second. This one had you tollerate it until the embassy and then just let you go.
I gave it a seven because it was just OK all the way to the embassy.
Besson made the biggest misstake of his life choosing Megaton (who chooses a name like that? There's your first clue) instead of Pierre Morel who did an incredible job on the first one.
The Bourne Legacy (2012)
Well done!
I was really skeptical going in, but having seen it, I have to say it was frigging AWESOME! Loved every second of it! SO worth the money! Finally something taking Bourne back in business! Bourne Ultimatum was just OK because of the constant stupid camera shaking that just made me mad so I did not enjoy that movie. The camera shaking was just too much. It made it very hard to follow the movie. This one tho was just smooth and cool! Well done Tony! Having said that I would have liked that Matt would have made at least a cameo Its sad and unprofessional for Matt do take a stance like that. "I will only do Bourne with Paul" What are you twelve?". Matt you are the coolest guy on earth, but Tony made a better Bourne then Paul did with the last two.
I really hope Renner and Damon will be in the next Bourne and Tony Gilroy directing!
The Thing (2011)
Nice
I liked it. Having said that I did have an issue with 3 things. First: What I loved about the first remake was that it had a space scene, this did not. Numero 2: The reason I love North and South pole movies is that they have base's there. The first remake made it more cozier and made the base it self a character in the film. You started to learn your way around the base with familiar corridor's, bunk rooms and kitchens. With this latest remake they did not accomplish that. Even one of the X-files episodes made that happen(awesome episode BTW). 3 It was a bit strange that scholars and scientists of that magnitude would drill trough ice with an extraterrestrial entity inside it without contamination protocols. I mean There's all sorts of reasons why they should have taken proper lenghts to insure quarantine levels. I get that they had to move fast before word got out, but thats a pretty huge situation, so yeah they should have taken proper steps to insure safety. Thats all I have to say about this. I gave it an Eight.
