Reacher (2022– )
8/10
So far, SO GOOD
5 January 2024
Into episode 5 of season 2 and I gotta say, I'm hooked as hell. I'm liking every single aspect of this show. Never read the books, but I'd consider it after getting into this series.

I remember randomly taking a shot on season 1 because I'd heard it was decent... well, it was amazing. I didn't know jack about Reacher; never even watched the movies. No pun... But man oh man is it a fun watch.

Nice story as well. Pretty well written and some nice little twists and mystery to the crime. Great humor rolled in also.

When the action kicks in though; it really excels. Pretty brutal in fact. The finale of season 1 is crazy and Reacher doesn't take it easy. I love that the show doesn't keep it even hold back a bit, and Ritchson is a friggin beast of a man. He could literally rip these bad guys apart.

Swamp Thing (2019)

Rewatched Just Now and WOW I Forgot How Good This Was !!
16 October 2023
Attaboy Swamp Thing team for cancelling one the best comic book series in years.... so moronic. James Gunn is thankfully and smartly adding it to the DC universe and I believe a theatrical version is eminent.

I watched up to ep 07 about a two years ago and life stuff happened; so I kept promising myself I'd find a 4 hr block and finish it. Finally made some time to sit down and binge the remaining episodes and soon as I started, I said "whoa whoa wait, this is so damn good, i'm going to restart from the beginning!" Stayed up all night rewatching from the beginning. They did a great job here; with all aspects! And I particularly love that it's really violent, the effects and swamp thing looks so much like the comics.

And then they don't renew it.... Are you friggin joking lol!!! There had to have been something major go down for DC to make this call. I'm not remembering good advertising for this (or D. P. for that matter) and this could have been huge if they'd just put it out there more. Wan definitely got knee deep on this project and it shows. Consequently, cancelled my subscription upon realizing they cancelled Swamp Thing.

Crazy when someone says, "oh I never saw that one..."
23 June 2023
I'm like," are you friggin kidding me". Probably one of Edward Zwick's best movies. He just got it all right. You really got be picky to find an issue with this movie. Great action, score!, amazing cinematography and costumes, acting was top notch, and the story was told perfectly.

Great characters make this story, which I believe partially true, into an epic. I remember seeing this the first time and I felt like I just had been through an emotional roller coaster but loved every bit of it.

It's definitely on my list of movies that I go back and watch every couple of years and am glued to the screen like it's first time I've seen it.

Pretty entertaining if you give it a chance
7 May 2023
This show doesn't deserve the bashing I've seen in other reviews. I'm having fun with season 2 with all the new developments and different tangents. Sure it's all over the place, but I look at it like a handful of investigators that are finding different leads in one geographical area. And they follow them or discuss them.

And it get's creepy at times. The emails from David and from Amy would freak me the hell out. That they talked to Taunia and her interactions with Ingrid Cold was out there too. Even all the exploring of caves is spooky in my book.

If you like paranormal stuff and are bored with all the ghost hunter shows, then you should check this out.

Whoa... Didn't expect to be hit this hard by a cat rescue documentary, sheeesh!
21 January 2023
I decided to get some work done and I usually run the tv in the background. Saw this and said, cool looks interesting and hit play. Well, I didn't get a damn thing done for work lol. 20 min into it and i was in my recliner fully invested in this. Man, i'm glad i randomly picked this.

To the people complaining that this is not wild cat rescue documentary, well, you're right... It's a young man with mental issues that saves wild cats documentary. And it's pretty damn amazing! It does get kind of rough towards the end, and veers away from the animal rescue. But again for the critics, this kid is just as much the story as the ocelot he rescues.

Oh and to folks making fun of these two being a couple emo millennials, shut it. I'm an old construction guy and they've got my respect. Sam and Harry are tough as nails to live in those conditions for years at a time.

I was absolutely shocked at how much i enjoyed this. Definitely give this a 1 hr and 45 min of your time... you won't regret it!

Babylon (I) (2022)

Not sure I liked it but it still deserves a 6
15 January 2023
This movie was one of the most shocking films I've seen in a decade. Loving the director, my mom and I went to see Babylon, but we went prepared. I'd read it was over the top with sex and drugs, but we had no idea. We had been to see just about everything and anything together, but this made us uneasy.

Front the start it seemed Chazelle was trying to push the envelope but it was unnecessary. There's a scene involving large animal diarrhea that I pretty much had to look away from. Then it goes straight into the explicit sex and I'm talking NC-17 levels. Instead of enjoying the movie, we both found ourselves asking why a scene was done this way. It truly rode the line between shock and entertainment for over 3 hours. There was a little bit of disorganization to story telling but nothing i couldn't overlook due to the genius level acting by Robbie and Pitt.

Bottom line for me is that this was a vulgar adventure that wore me out and if Chazelle would have toned it down the extremely shocking material to something more viewable then this would have been an enjoyable experience.

Actually... original and enjoyable. Glad I ignored the negativity.
4 December 2022
Pretty damn fun movie. I don't remember this being in the theaters but it should have been a one of those top grossers for a weekend or two and then fade out. I may be wrong but I think it went straight to steaming which is a shame. Maybe I'm partial towards sci fi type themes but as long as the premise has other worldly roots then I cut it a little slack as that adds to fun.

Anyways, it got a nice spin on clairvoyance. The story is cool, the pace is good and everyone does a good job. Anthony Hopkins is always fun to watch. Ignore the frickin overly critical wannabe expert reviewers and give this a watch.

Not a best picture award, But super fun with minimal issues
19 January 2020
This is one of those movies that is easy to watch be a use its got some good laughs and it's flaws are easy to forgive. I guess what I mean is that it comes across like they had so much fun making this that it's issues fall by the wayside so quickly. And they exaggerate everything so the movie"s problems are as noticeable.

Don't trust the Critics
11 November 2019
It's better than some of the critics would have you believe. I've seen critiques of the film saying that it's basically counterproductive because the protesters the film condemns are actually exercising their freedom of speech as well. Ummmm, the CNN's and major networks would have you believe those were protesters but they were viscous anti-conservative rioting mobs. They tried to attack the speakers and physically force them to withdraw their speaking engagements. The weren't close to peaceful protesters, they were something you'd see in a 3rd world riot. Setting structures on fire, throwing bottles and rocks, it's crazy. Estimates range anywhere from 5 to 1 up to 12 to 1 liberal professors outnumber conservatives. These institutions have gone off the deep end and two sided discussions are considered an attack and offensive towards liberals yet conservative ideas are ganged up on. My girlfriends kids just started college and the stories they've got are terrifying. We need more movies like this.

Pretty Entertaining Actually
8 September 2019
A lower budget movie with unknowns but actually good. The Sawyer character was a pretty decent actress and sure we'll see more of her. Not great but I'm glad I dvr'd it. Based on true events which is scary because of how out of control the situation gets. I'm surprised how terrible people get that you'd think you can trust and the ones you shouldn't trust end up being good.

What a Nice Surprise!
13 July 2019
Wnet expecting avg terror and horror and came out thinking, wow that was fun. If you like scary thrill rides then this will be awesome for you. The alligators aren't cheesy, the storm is ominous, the characters aren't making completely dumb decisions. The gator attacks are pretty gruesome if you like that. And for God's sakes they aren't in a basement like everyone is complaining about being in florida... they're in a crawlspace under an elevated house. Go see it, you'll enjoy it.

Very Entertaining, Don't Listen To Critics
27 May 2019
Very well done for the budget. Very well! If you like horror or Sci fi or action then you'll enjoy this, guaranteed. The story is predictable sure; if you saw the trailer then you know the premise. But the details are not. This kid lies so well to everyone and keeps killing. It's pretty spooky. It's a little short and maybe could have explored an evil hero's story more. But you'll have a blast for 90 minutes.

Decent movie if you don't mind smaller films.
1 June 2018
I thought this movie was interesting and kinda fun. Acting not bad and locations were cool. People may think the plot was far fetched but it's a movie and end of the world conspiracies are always good places to start. If you like to watch Indy or smaller films then you'll enjoy this.

Not Your Run Of The Mill Liam Movie.... I'm Very Impressed
19 March 2015
I went to see this because I found out last minute that "It Follows" was only limited release and I'M GLAD I DID! When you go see "Taken 2" or "Walk Among the Tombstones" you expect crazy action which you definitely get with Run All Night. But what you're not expecting is above average story and acting. There was great suspense with solid characters that you start to care about. There's some larger than life feats that Liam pulls off as usual, but it's done well.

Giving it a 9 out of 10 might be a little high, but I feel it deserves bonus points for surprising the heck out of me and breaking the recent trend of over the top Liam movies.

Don't wait for video on this one; it's a wild ride for the theater.

Worth Seeing As Long As U Remember Why It Was Made...
3 December 2012
Warning: Spoilers
The reviewers that are giving this as a worst move ever review must have been expecting 9 or 10 outta 10 going into this. I expected a 6 and I knew it would be hokey and have unbelievable situations when I decided to see it. But for this type of movie you got to remember that its just about having fun and you will find it entertaining.

The big problems you have to overlook is the inconsistency of whether they have power. Its knocked out originally for the attack but then does it ever come back. Some buildings have power, some have emergency type lighting, some are dark.

It would have been nice to keep Robert as the somewhat shy guy turns to bloodlust lunatic like in the original. The scene from the original where he kills daryl is awesome.

They definitely lightened things up a bit overall. The original has just about everyone dying and this one only has about 3 or 4 of them getting killed.

The gun fights and guerilla attacks are pretty good. They are frequent and keep the pace going pretty well. Of course its nice to have the hottie from Friday Night Lights and Isabel Lucas in the cast. The acting is decent except for a couple weird scenes with Josh Peck. I liked that Helmsworth is back from Iraq which gives the group a little more military background. And as your watching the movie you get a nice patriotic high.

I suggest seeing it especially with the other options that are out as long as you can let go of being critical of its flaws and focus on having a good time.

OK I'll Admit It.... This is a Cool Show
29 May 2012
Warning: Spoilers
No spoilers here. I almost exclusively go out and by TV on DVD so I can watch at my own leisure or hunker down and watch a full day of a show, however I want to do it. I read that this wasn't much like the Michael J Fox movie which sparked my attention but for some it will initially turn them off b/c that's what they'll think..."omg they made this into a show?". Well lemme rephrase its nothing like the movies. It is loosely based on the teen wolf movies and much more action/horror than comedy but it has its witty funny scenes no doubt. So now I'm stuck because I quickly blew through the 12 episodes of this show on DVD in 2 days and Season 2 hasn't even started.... dammit.

I like the somewhat goofy teen lead and even goofier best friend. I remember seeing the Allison character in Skyline and remembering how pretty she was, well she's great in this, and shes been in the gym, wow. All of the actors are pretty damn good from younger and hard core Argent aunt down to Scott's mom and her small scenes. One of the weak points is when they show the werewolf from a distance as it's kind of low budget CGI but it is a TV show and I have to remind myself because its pretty good entertainment for TV.

From what i've read so far they are going to take the action and twists up a notch for season 2. Its sort of geared to teens being on MTV but i'll completely admit that this is a cool show for just about anyone.

Very FUN Movie!
6 February 2012
This was a great movie made up of decent effects, good acting and a solid story. It's not mind blowingly original but it fun to see kids being kids. We're talking 15 mil budget for this movie and its just as if not more enjoyable than its 200 mil budget competition. This is one of those movies that you might have to drag your girlfriend or mom to go see but then they come out liking more than you. My mom went and saw without having a clue other than thinking it was something about a kid with ESP and she loved it. If you can convince someone to go without knowing the plot it will be worth it for them.

!!!!SPOILERS!!!! from here on......

One thing I wish would have been a little expanded on or done different was the very end. His dialogue should have been a clear message that he will be spending time in an isolated location (Tibet) to strengthen, safely control and understand his abilities so he can use this gift to help people in honor of Steve and Andrew (or something like that).
