Dallas Buyers Club (2013)
Those things you don't see
Dallas 1985. Ron Woodroof is a heavy smoking, drinking, coke head, casual sex having kind of guy. He is a stereotypical cowboy redneck: racist and homophobic. Not at all the man you'd want to cheer for, while in the hospital on a work related injury, the doctors discover and inform him that he is HIV+, and that he will most-likely die within thirty days. That said, watching Matthew McConaughey's portrayal of an HIV+ man who won't let himself quit, was a different ad amazing experience for me. Survival is his only choice. His remarkable portrayal
with natural cadence of speech and emaciated condition really sales the man you want to like. It's a good look back at what it was like to deal A.I.D.S. in the eighties. Jared Leto's performance in this movie signals that a five year absence was well worth the wait. It almost makes you want to cry
if I could, Iwould have
. Leto sold his character. He was the heart behind McConaughey success in the film. Not my at all the type of film I would watch, but it was an experience worth the trip for me.
American Hustle (2013)
Movie of fun characters
An amazing film set in the seductive stylize world of one of the scandals to rock our nation, American Hustle is the story of a silver- tongued con man, named Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale), who along with his cunning, charming and sexy English partner Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams) is forced to work for a unorthodox FBI agent Richie DiMaso (The amazing Bradley Cooper). DiMaso pushes them into a world of Jersey swindlers & power- brokers and mafia that's as dangerous as it is enchanting. Carmine Polito a passionate, volatile, New Jersey politician caught between the con- artists and Feds. Irving's unpredictable wife Rosalyn (Jennifer Lawrence) could be the one to ruin it all.
I walked out of this movie in an inspired by the character acting.... I couldn't love the character anymore. The Acting worked so well with the character dialogue. What an astonishing different role for Jenifer Lawrence as Rosalyn
Rocky Balboa (2006)
A tale of age and something left to say....
When the current champ loses a highly publicized virtual boxing match to ex-champ Rocky Balboa, reigning heavyweight titleholder Mason "the line" Dixon's only responds by challenging the Itallian Stallion to a nationally televised, 10-round exhibition. To the surprise of his son and friends, Rocky agrees to come out of retirement and face down his demons and Dixon who's faster, stronger and thirty years or so younger. With the odds greatly against him, Rocky takes on Dixon in what will become the greatest fight in boxing history, a hard-hitting, action-packed battle of the old vs. the young.
the entire plot was based on the plot of who do you think would win in a fight.... I still think that Bruce Lee and Jet Li would be epic, but for now I'll have to watch this great time, if not long winded, slow-paced film of Comebacks.....
Hercules in New York (1970)
Fighting amongst the gods...
As Arnold Schwarzenegger's first film it was the reason I had as a child for become interested in mythology. The field of films regarding the subject of the gods is horribly inaccurate. Once you accept the mistakes the joke become funnier. Arnold in his prime body builder form makes an interesting choice with an impossible to understand accent.
As Hercules struggles through New York in the modern times, he met with users and abusers who would try to take advantage of a god-like naivety. He woos a woman with an ancient times kind of charm. The Gods are shamed by the actions and send his half-brother to beg his return to Olympus. Refusal would bring retribution from Olympus on himself
Needless to say the story goes on and on and the plot is uninterestingly bad
.. BUT
.. It just so hard not to watch it as it goes on
It just makes me laugh! Arnold would go on to be the Action Hero of the 1980's.
With Hercules in mind this movie is pretty Badass if give up storyline, acting and a lack production
Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988)
A must see Klown movie..
So Killer Klowns from Outer Space if you ever needed another reason for kids to be terrified by clowns. But what do you expect from a movie with a name like that? Between mellow-drama acting to just badly scripted dialogue, this movie delivers one the most surprisingly enjoyable and haunting films of my childhood. Clowns run amuck? No Way Jose! The Pranks the Klowns play, as they slowly abduct the entire town, for food is over the top horribly awesome. The Clown-like styled alien, vampire, Klowns from another world, do great villainy to the art of Clowning as a whole. It's just the acting is so cheesy
thank you 80's once again. This movie isn't on any critics most see movies, but I think it must be on yours
.. You won't regret it
Would You Rather (2012)
Dinner Party Survival goes wrong...... for the guests!
I was first enticed to watch this by the title. Who wouldn't be interested in the kid's game we all use to play, and then Sasha Grey in a non-skin flick, seemed worth a chance. I was really excited to watch the film as soon as I saw Jeffrey Combs appear (#nerdingout He was a great character Actor on Star Trek DS9) I was expecting a B-rate film with a horrible plot-line and some bad acting, which is what I was in the mood for. Turns out the plot-line wasn't as predictable as I thought, the acting was good until it came to moral conviction to character's back-stories and how the character would react to these hypothetical, with one exception you would then have to act on your decision. People were pretty easily talked off the moral stances early on in the game. "Welcome to dinner, where it will be your last meal."
Needless to say it has something for just about everybody who enjoys entertainment, but don't any great life changers here. It's predictable and stale. It might even be as interesting as his review
.
Man of Steel (2013)
Man of Steel Not your usual Superman
If you would like to argue over the place this movie has in a Superma Universe than you'll be left wanting... It's another...YES another time-line for the Superman Universe.... Suspend what you know and then, ONLY THEN can you begin to understand or brgin to enjoy this movie from the the first scene on. Between Russel Crowe's portrayal of JOR-EL to Henry Cavill's amazing portrayal of Kal-EL/Superman... I thought that the lines were delivered expertly time to the story being told.. the depth of characters were perfect for an introductory movie... Zod was almost a sympathetic antagonist... Introduction characters a technology that took year to imagine being displayed so soon in the creation backdrop leaves room for the stories to come. The Batman to the Luthor
foreshadowed story lines revealed in this movie alone.. excite me.... I hope that the freedom by which this particular movie tells its story still remains true to the virtues of the time...... I may have a problem with the end like most, but I except it for that, a movie with a dramatic conclusion... Welcome to cinema. Get use to disappointment!!!!
P.S. Especially for COMICS!!!
Disorderlies (1987)
The Fat Boys Movie laughs galore...
The Fat Boys are an American Hip Hop trio from Brooklyn, New York City that star in this epically hilarious film. It's like The Three Stooges meets rap. I still love this movie. Three chumps hired to take care of a super rich guy whose health is on the decline. They hapless trio luck into a cure as the bungle up their job and lose his medication. The Bungling idiots are very endearing, and as such they become friends with the eccentric Albert and as he gets better they get to enjoy the good life with him. The only problem is the douche bag of a nephew needs hams to kick the bucket to pay off his debts to a drug dealing loan shark. Through a series of comically failed attempts and bad jokes makes this movie hilarious. A fun family goof ball movie
. Watch it and enjoy
