Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Good ending that could have been better
MARVEL movies are action flicks predominantly, this one took the gamble of character development and bringing in raw emotions in much of the movie, while the fight scene towards the end was choreographed brilliantly, somehow the movie didn't work on the drama level, and time travel concepts are always a risky bet, and somehow in the end, it did not come of as well, at the end of the day. Avengers End Game is a fitting tribute to all the major characters, but it certainly did not live up the expectation that was delivered in its previous installment.
Interstellar (2014)
A Modern Masterpiece
The movie is basically a celebration of Einstein's deep insight into space and time, his theory of special relativity in particular. And tells you why terms like genius/ Intelligence are synonymous with his name. The movie is an extension of Einstein's idea by Professor Kip Thorne (one of the pioneers of Quantum mechanics) and the resurrection of lost data which once formulated the war between Leonard Susskind and Stephen Hawking, all seem to measure up in this modern masterpiece by the Nolan Brothers.
The first half of the movie builds up the plot and it goes the distance in the second half. Matthew MacConaughey might get an Oscar nomination for the part he played, particularly the docking scene of which cinematography was brilliant. Anne Hathaway played the supporting hand while Matt Damon showed the inner conscience of humans when they are lost and feel like dying.
The principles of quantum mechanics as strange as they might seem, it is still the best scientific tool we have to explore the Universe, this fabric of space and time is explored in the entire second half of the movie, and this movie also had a signature Christopher Nolan progression in it, where the end is shown in an absurd way in the beginning and then it is spectacularly justified as it was in Inception.
The movie however is open to speculations but the science behind it is pretty strong, so unless science is your thing, you might find this movie difficult to understand.
Wonders of the Universe (2011)
Our Universe
Professor Brian Cox takes up the charge of exploring our planet and explain the motions of the Universe and everything that it is made of, thus explaining gracefully with simulated and beautiful depictions of our place in this planet and the Universe at large. One has to keep in mind, this is not a nerd show which will highlight all pro-level science talk. Men like Brian Cox, Neil Tyson are science communicator and popularizer. The main purpose of this show is to bring young minds who fear science in this wonderful fascination and its justifications, and to make them understand how profound are the immutable laws of physics and other sciences, when it comes to the grandest of stages i.e. life of the stars. The show did that quiet splendidly. So if solar system and galaxies have been your fascination, but you were always afraid of the big science formulas and terms, this is your chance to get hold of them, and understand the beauty they have and represent.
Dream Theater: Score - 20th Anniversary World Tour Live with the Octavarium Orchestra (2006)
The Magic Continues to Mesmerize
Recorded on April 1,2006 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Dream Theater continues their epic journey and this time they take it to the next level with "The Octavarium Orchestra", conducted by Jamshied Sharifi. The madness, the insanity, the macabre, it has all the components. The awesome five nailed it with music some would say as good as a magic show by Houdini. James LaBrie with his lightning vocals, and dramatic expressions was outstanding. John Petrucci proved once again why he is the god of contemporary progressive insanity. John Myung, as usual continues to thrill with his six string gadget calling which a bass guitar is merely an understatement. Magician Jordan Rudess works extremely well with his keyboard solos, and taking them to an even higher level, making it look all so easy. And obviously, the backbone Mike Portnoy, the man on drums and contributing to backing vocals completes the band and make us understand why they are the best progressive rock band in the world. The music continues to swing between rock, blues, and the occasional jazz, which quiet naturally is the theme of Dream Theater and makes the awesome-five master of the macabre. Its definitely worth watching.
