Tenet (2020)
Inaudible dialogue
Inaudible dialogue made for a frustratingly irritating movie. The soundtrack "music" is terrible and WAY TOO LOUD.
On Wings of Eagles (1986)
This movie is based a Ken Follett non-fiction book.
"On Wings of Eagles" was a 1983 non-fiction book by Ken Follett.
The story, according to Follett, is not fictionalized or a 'non-fiction novel' because it's based on a true event. It's based on the rescue of two Electronic Data Systems employees, Paul Chiapparone and Bill Gaylord from prison in Tehran. A team from EDS led by retired United States Army Special Forces Col. Arthur D. Simons (best known for leading the Son Tây raid in Viet Nam) carried out the rescue. Texas businessman Henry Ross Perot Jr. initiated (and took part in) the rescue.

Amazing
This is an amazing movie, well worth watching to see the Russian side of the story.
The sound of Leonov's breathing was recorded, and later looped into the soundtrack of 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Dunkirk (2017)
See Mrs. Miniver instead.
Sadly, a very disappointing film that I was eagerly looking forward to seeing, particularly as my father went across on one of the "little ships". There is very little character development allowed by the truncated script. It doesn't really matter because most of the dialogue is incomprehensible anyway thanks mainly to the incessant, overblown Hans Zimmer score. And I usually enjoy his work.
Too many glaring goofs to mention.
Sadly, all around very disappointing.
Der Stern von Afrika (1957)
Not a great story but good for the aircraft.
"Der Stern von Afrika" is an interesting movie to watch particularly for all the now rare Spanish Hispano Aviación HA-1112 K1Ls with Hispano-Suiza engines (in other words they are not real Messerschmitts) used in the filming, not so very authentic if you are an aircraft buff, but all very well done. Mostly it was filmed in Spain.
This is a 1957 German movie and is based on Luftwaffe Ace Hans-Joachim Marseille, who died 30 September 1942 (age 22) at Sidi Abdel Rahman, Egypt. Marseille's usual aircraft number was Yellow 14 we can see two Yellow 14's in one shot!
Godless (2017)
Beautiful Production
Watched all 7 episodes over the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of this story. Jeff Daniels was amazing as was Michelle Dockery, Kim Coates, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Scoot McNairy, Merritt Wever and Jack O'Connell et al. Great story. Great gunslinging taught by Joey Dillon (the Hollywood gun coach). Great work with the horses - they must have had a great wrangler for that.
Interstellar (2014)
Self indulgent twaddle
I've actually tried to watch this twice, once in the cinema (I walked out, something I've never done before in a film) and once at home on video. Both times I failed to complete the mission.
Please don't compare this stinking mess with Kubrick's epic "2001 - A Space Odyssey", it is not in the same league or even in the same universe!
With horrible acting and mumbling by Mr. McConaughey, incomprehensible jargon and pseudo-scientific mumbo-jumbo overlaid with Zimmer's monstrously horrendous score I will not try watching it a third time.
Deadly Encounter (1982)
This is trashy but watchable because of the "real" flying.
This is a trashy (I mean really embarrassingly bad) made-for-TV movie but if you enjoy "for real" helicopter stunt flying (there's no CGI used here),then you'll like this! I don't think they'd get away with this type of flying nowadays, even in Mexico!
Aircraft:- Hughes 500 (Model 369HS) , Aerospatiale Alouette IIs, Aerospatiale Gazelle, Bell Jetranger and two Stearman, one by the legendary Art Scoll.
Sadly three people died making this film when the Hughes Model 500 (369HS)flown by Hagman's character "Sam" crashed when the pilot collided with a cable on 17th April 1982. One was Glen Miller, the real owner of Sam's Hughes 500 (who played the truck driver Pocotello Pete), Diane Doherty, and the costumer Frank Novak.
HUGHES:369HS REGISTRATION:N4EE THE AIRCRAFT WAS NUMBER TWO IN A TRAIL OF THREE HELICOPTERS FLYING UP THE Colorado RIVER AT MARBLE CANYON TO PAGE, AZ WHEN IT STRUCK AN AERIAL CABLEWAY STRETCHING ACROSS THE RIVER, 22 FT ABOVE THE WATER. WITNESSES STATED THAT AFTER THE COLLISION THE HELICOPTER DID A SOMERSALT AND FELL INTO THE WATER. Source: NTSB
Larry Kirsch, the fabulous stunt pilot, was killed in 2011 while flying in Hawaii.
Triple Cross (1966)
Aircraft ID for Zipper69
Quite right, it is definitely not a German plane. The aircraft is a 1946 French SNCAC Martinet.
This was enjoyable to watch on a quiet evening at home. It was particularly interesting for me because I knew nothing of Edward Chapman's charmed life and wartime exploits so now I would like to know more about him and I'll be tempted to read up a bit and do some research about him.
The film was well made with good production values and direction. My complaint is with the editing which was off kilter at times. The story line was abrupt and frequently resulted in too many fast changes. For instance we needed to see how Edward Chapman got passage on the vessel to Lisbon.
