Started out OK but became too unbelievable
30 August 2022
Too many crimes and twists for my taste. I might have liked this more if the writers would have stuck to one case at a time. At around the fifth episode it just felt like a jumbled up mess. The actors were OK except for going a little over the top. Melodramatic. Writing a movie review may not be as challenging as it first appears. This type of academic assignment is not the most complicated one by far. However, it still has its own peculiarities - and if you can get these right, you will succeed. Also, another important thing to be aware of in order to understand how to start a movie review is the proper formatting of such an assignment. The key to success in handling your movie review is decent organization. Just like every other academic paper, a good film review essay should follow a specific structure, style, and, most importantly, formatting.

As per previous reviewer - "stylized self indulgent Hollywood"
8 August 2022
Yes, as previously stated - stylized and self-indulgent. I did find the quick pacing and superficiality slightly interesting... for a while.

However, eventually became too tiresome for me... I think mostly because I'm old enough to already know the basic Elvis story.

Viewers who are younger or an Elvis fanatics.. might enjoy this more than I did. E.g., my mother who was an active member of the Elvis fanclub for her entire adult life.

Boring, mostly filler material
15 October 2021
A lot of poorly written back story here. I suggest you record and view later so you can fast forward thru the boring sections.

IMDB rant... why the 150 character limit? Some shows like this one can be summed up with fewer, much, much fewer. So few, maybe even a haiku, will do?

Too rambling for my taste
2 June 2021
I think this tried to do too many things at once. Also I found it hard to suspend disbelief for the many of the twists and turns.

This is one of those series that could probably have benefited from an editor who was ruthless it cutting this down to a core, more linear story.

Not exactly terrible, just a little too much rambling for my taste.

And as another reviewer noted... males are probably not the primary target audience.

So gender bias may possibly explain why people seem to love it or hate it?

Something about this
28 March 2021
This is obviously targeting a younger audience but... as an older viewer, I find a lot to enjoy too. It may even be one of the latest trendsetters? I've certainly noticed several new series involving reincarnation after the success of the "slime". Give it a try and you might be surprised by a fun ride.

Decent animation with erratic storytelling
28 March 2021
I generally liked the animation and the voice actors. The storytelling was a little uneven though. Like a lot of NetFlix series, it felt like inexperienced writers were given a little more freedom than they have at this stage of their careers. It's not a terrible show by any means but... it's nowhere near being worthy of 8 stars either. For example, if you compare this with Jujutsu Kaisen (an obvious 8 star series) I think any objective viewer would agree that somewhere around 6 stars is more appropriate for Dota.

Meh... long episode without saying much.
23 March 2021
I've only watched the first episode and so far this feels like one of those shows with a few interesting tidbits and a LOT of filler. It also feels VERY careful, as if the authors know that they risk offending someone, no matter what they present on this topic... and they are a little scared? Granted, I sympathize, there are strong emotions on all sides and I'd be careful if Q came up in one of my conversations. I'll probably watch the next episode but.. my expectations are low. I can only hope I'll be proven wrong and this show picks up some real steam?.

One of my guilty pleasures
23 March 2021
I'm living proof that seniors love anime too. Obviously intended for kids, Sure, Seven Deadly Sins can be great fun for any age group. Magic pigs, giant women, a fairy king who carrying his pillow? 'I think the characters are a hoot. My only criticism, sometimes it feels like there is a little too much drama, where I prefer when the stories stick to comedy. Season 5 is an example where; I wish it would lighten up a little.

Great seasons 1 thru 3, not as high on the final season
18 March 2021
This has been one of my favorites. I consider it a true original in so many ways, I looked forward to every new episode of the first three seasons. Unfortunately I have had less love for the final season. Something about the stories in S04 feel stale (for me). Even so, I still give this 8 stars overall.

Still making up my mind
16 March 2021
I love science fiction so am rooting for this series but... it hasn't really grabbed me yet. The debris is an interesting concept and I really hope they explore it in some detail. What I fear... they'll waste the opportunity to be interesting and instead end up working thru the same old tired list of personal/social issues... that almost all network shows default to anymore. Let's hope my fears are not realized... too early to tell at this point.

Well, this episode was disappointing

I wanted to like Clarice but it's proving hard to warm up to. This episode is the low point so far. I hope they turn this around.

My rant on obligatory sex scenes in general
8 March 2021
Why in the world do writers include extended sex scenes in this day and age? It doesn't move the story along and if viewers are really interested in sex, they can find anything they are curios about on their favorite porn site. Even worse in this particular episode, way too much time was spent trying to make some point about sexual orientation rather than entertaining. I'm not a prude, I just don't appreciate the clumsy message delivery. A couple ideas for the future writers and editors of the world. Verify the a sex scene really adds something, or cut it. If you want to make a point, do it in an interesting way and don't preach. Inclusive messages could be entertaining if .... you ain't lazy.

This episode sucked way more than usual
2 March 2021
The Rookie at its best is marginally entertaining. This episode is an example of its worst. I can only assume they needed to fill in a sheduled timeslot and spliced together old footage with newer "interview" material. Save yourself and skip it.

Decent sci-fi
28 February 2021
With little new content since the pandemic struck, I've been searching the film archives... A LOT. In the process I came across The Thirteenth Floor and I'm happy I did. I'm a fan of most sci-fi so not sure how I missed this when it originally came out. I thought it still held up pretty well today. Without going into any detail, you might like this if you enjoyed Inception.

Latest twist is not my style
27 February 2021
I don't like the show to date and had pretty much given up hope of anything changing my opinion. I still end up recording episodes for skimming later, just because there isn't much new content due to covid-19. With the latest twist the show has hit a new low for me. While I think Kathryn Hahn is a fine actor, I found my self cringing as she was revealed as a witch. I feel like Disney has really destroyed Marvel characters for me so far. I'm just hoping they can start making content for people like me at some point in the future.

Poor choice for a series revival
16 February 2021
Q: Is this really a reboot of that old series with Ed Woodward? A: Yes. Q: Did't the original series suck. A: YES! Q: Could this new version be any worse? A: A resounding YES!!! Q: What were they all thinking? A: Your guess is as good as mine. I kind of feel sorry for the actors, who I believe have delivered fine performances in the past. i'd like to believe the pitch of a protector had some real appeal... initially. By the time the illusion of any quality had worn away, they were in too deep to walk away? You can (and should) avoid this train wreck.

So far... SO good
11 February 2021
I've only seen 3 episodes but so far I have really enjoyed this The setup scenes are pretty good too and when they get around to delivering to the punchlines (I think) they are consistently, at least a little amusing, and in some cases have been "laugh out loud" funny.

I'm REALLY hoping this trend continues....

If you'd like some good old violence...
5 February 2021
Then you might try this. It doesn't waste too much time between all the killing. The bad guys and gals are definitely bad,,, so you won't mind them being blown away. The "good" guy and "gal" are quirky enough that you'll root for them in spite of all the questionable behavior. Lots of exciting action make the whole thing hum along.

Weak writing and...
5 February 2021
Shallow characters who are poorly performed for the most part. It's one strange conglomeration. The photography was OK, making me think they had enough of a budget. So the reason for it's failure? I keep going back to the writing. The story is all over the place and most of it is not plausible.

Better than I expected
31 January 2021
For starters, I thought Denzel Washington, Rami Malek both gave decent performances. There were also some interesting ideas explored in the story. However, I REALLY had to suspend disbelief in several segments. I always expect some divergence from reality, but some of the scenarios these writers presented were too far out. If you can ignore the fact that "cops just would not do some of this stuff", then it's an OK ride.

Slow progress continues, no interest in gimmick
23 January 2021
The gimmick of characters stuck in old TV series is an interesting concept but... in itself is not enough to hold my interest. Each episode drags on and towards the end will lurch slightly forward, This may give hope that the next episode will reveal more, have more energy, some great payoff but.. the same boring cycle just repeats itself each week. The monotony of a writer who loves their "clever" concept so much that they forget to entertain us. What surprises me is the praise from some other reviewers. IMHO WandaVision is not in the same league with shows that have preceded. Give me Jessica Simpson or The Boys instead of this snooze-fest any day.

OK but not great... and don't understand the low ratings
7 January 2021
I've seen two episodes and thought this was OK - sci fi with some light comedy. OK typically means 7 stars for me - which translates into "I can watch this without groaning too much". I don't understand the low ratings from others. Maybe their scale of stars is just different? Or maybe I'd only understand if I read the source material, since a lot of complaints reference the original Discworld? For now.. I'll keep watching, and someday I'll get around to the book.

Good first but steady decline as seasons progress
31 December 2020
I REALLY liked the first half of the first season. Since then it's been a long slow decline, to the point where season 5 which is almost unwatchable. I especially object to the latest belter villians and their mother/wife - flat, like cardboard cutouts. I haven't red the books yet. Here's hoping they are better than the series.

Not sure why people like this
23 December 2020
Looks OK & some interesting concepts but... the story seems disjointed and meandering. Like the writers wanted to be faithful to the source material and could only approximate. Few of the performers/performances approach anything close to enjoyable viewing for me. And the actors playing Lyra and the knife bearer both fell far short. I wanted to like, too bad for me.
