Redemption of the Ghost (2002)
Whistle Down The Wind Redux
I am amazed at what this horrible film has gotten away with. This is a total ripoff of Whistle Down The Wind. Whistle Down the Wind was originally written by Mary Hayley Bell. She had written it for her daughter, the actress Hayley Mills. The original story/film is about a convict who hides out in a barn. The convict is discovered by two children. The convict "convinces" the children that he is in fact, the "opposite" of a convict. He convinces them he is more of a "savior." Even Andrew Lloyd Weber knew enough to give credit where credit is due, when he decided to use the story as a basis for a musical. I guess the makers of this film assumed that Americans would be clueless to the theft...or that most people who saw the original would either be dead by now, or wouldn't remember the original. What I will say for this "version", is that it would appear they did most of their casting with the extras/town folks from the film Deliverance.
House of 1000 Corpses (2003)
For Morons and Idiots
This was a waste of time, energy, oxygen, film, masks, and fake blood. It is obvious that the writer/director grew up on Texas Chainsaw, Maniac, Mother's Day etc.....not scary, not witty, not suspenseful...shock value for morons living in trailer parks drinking Coors in the back of recreational vehicles watching TV in a tank top and underwear. It is apparent that the writer/director learned nothing from classic horror and suspense films. Is there nothing original anymore? Just dumb and a sad commentary on the mentality of people today. I suppose the only thing shocking for the director/writer to do, would be actually make an interesting/original film. You want intense...rent Funny Games...see how disturbing and intense a film really can be.
Silent Tongue (1993)
Pretentious. Repellent. Boring. Ugly. Waaaaay too dramatic....
For me, this was an exercise in torture. I found it to be pretentious. Waaaaaaay over the top dramatically. Repulsive to look at. Bad acting. Bad dialogue. Almost as bad as Buried Child. I was reminded of The Emperor's New Clothes. People really do like to think of themselves as sophisticated, don't they...... A root canal would have been less painful. Oh, I particularly enjoyed the use of fingernails. Made me crave a manicure.
