Extremely disappointing and cheesey
19 November 2022
I went in with an open mind and really wanted to enjoy the sequel to Black Panther but instead of a good film, I got a 'film' that uses over the top emotional scenes to cash out on 'Tchala' RIP. This is another dud and I'm extremely disappointed. The score was good and some scenes were okay but overall, this is a cash grab. 1/10.

If you're still interested in watching this movie, I would recommend you save your money and wait until it is out on a streaming service. Do not waste your time and money on a drawn out drivel of a movie with no story and character development instead, this is cashing out on the success of the previous film's success. Shameful.

Black Adam (2022)
10/10
Welcome home!
21 October 2022
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson gets top marks for making his Black Adam just as steely and imposing as in the DC comics.

There are tons of action scenes featuring the Justice Society, obviously. Cyclone's beautiful twisters are a unique joy to watch and they add some welcome color to the film's visual palette. You can finally see Doctor Fate on screen and see how the other comic brand has ripped off and created a woke and weaker version in the form of the DS.

Black Adam indulges to the perfect point where it's hard not to enjoy the DC anti-hero's debut. It's packed with fleshed out characters and an excessive number of adrenalin pumping action scenes, to the point where it outclasses any other outing and shows what it means to be a hero even in the midst of all the noise. DC has managed to capture lightning in a bottle and Black Adam manages to find its spark and then some.

My previous positive reviews for DC films get rejected. Anything negative about other brands also get rejected. Who is moderating these reviews??

Two final words: Post credit! Excellent return for the DCEU. Welcome home indeed!

Morbius (2022)
9/10
Do not believe the fake votes. This is a solid action film.
21 May 2022
I do not understand the hate. First off, I'm a DC fan and I know there are millions of Marvel fanboys who like to pointlessly bash anything that comes from DC.

Second, I do not like most of the bubblegum movies that MCEU produces. This is not based on bias but purely on my taste in movies and story telling.

Now that that's out of the way, let's talk about Morbius. This is a solid action film with great action sequences throughout. The story is great and takes the time to build the characters that we feel for. Jared Leto has done a wonderful job with the character. Finally he shines here unlike his portrayal of the Joker (for whatever reason).

I enjoyed Morbius thoroughly. This is not a masterpiece but it is a great action movie to be enjoyed with the whole family.

The 3rd best TCM film. 10/10
27 February 2022
This movie has everything a TCM fan would ask for. My all time favorite horror film is TCM 1974. No other film has come close to it when it comes to slasher films. 2003 reboot was an impressive addition to the franchise. Anything that has been produced since has been sub standard work to say the least.

Cut to TCM 2022. This film has everything I wanted from a requel. A bad ass Leatherface, a decent premise and a cast of actors that I really wanted to see slaughtered on screen. This film is about Leatherface. The deaths were gruesome and satisfying. The ending was great!

I'm sure Tobe Hooper is smiling from above for this worthy addition to the TCM franchise. A heartfelt kudos to all involved and for giving us this awesome Leatherface saga!

Ignore the PC and woke whiney babies. Enjoy the chainsaw gore.

Good start, weak mid and weaker end
11 September 2021
This movie borrows from films like Leon the professional and John Wick etc. So much so that it has no soul and character of its own. It's basically a rip off of Leon with the intense gory kills to mimic John Wick. There's no strong story here and the 'twist' is obvious from the beginning.

Not recommended.

What garbage!! On the same crappy quality as WV and FAWS
10 June 2021
How can a show be so bad right at the start?! I guess that's a special trait of Marvel films and shows. They really know how to turn semi interesting characters in to sub mediocre trash.

I've given the three shows a chance and I've decided never again to make the same mistake. Crappy CGI and stories, bad acting and a plot that has more holes than a dry sponge.

Please avoid at all costs!

When will Marvel stop?
24 March 2021
So I decided to watch WandaVision with an open mind. It turned out to be pure torture garbage by the end. I wish I'd get that time back. Agatha?? Are you serious? What tripe!?.

Anyway, I made the same mistake. Yeah! I know it's my own fault but I'm someone who grew up reading comic books so I gave this show a try as well.

Firstly, NO ONE cares about these two 'characters'. It's just there so that Marvel stays somehow in the 'news'.

There is absolutely nothing to like about this show. Please do yourself a favor and watch the grass grow outside. Thank me later.

Shameful exploitation. Don't waste your time on this.
16 January 2021
For biased fans, please don't just rate 10 just because you want it to have a high rating. Be honest with yourself. Is this what you really consider a 10? If I'm generous, I'd give it a 4.5 and I really wanted to like it. ! It doesn't really help the show to get better and the producers won't seek to improve it.

This show is supposed to be a Comedy in which I finished 2 episodes so much as a smile. I waited and waited. Please watch the show and then give your honest opinion.

I gave it a chance and if I'm 100% honest, this is extremely lame. Maybe it was aimed at the Disney children's crowd, even then it falls short.

10/10. This is how a perfect super hero film is made. Another jewel in the DC crown.
26 December 2020
This is how a perfect super hero film is made. Another jewel in the DC crown. It has great character development for every new one introduced. Pedro Pascal and Kirsten Wiig are perfectly cast as Max Lord and Barbara Minerva AKA Cheetah. They really bring the characters to life. The return of Steve Trevor was also a very emotional and necessary addition to the plot. Not what it makes it appear in the trailer at all. Excellent action sequences, CGI and practical FX combined.

For the first time, this film explores the human and vulnerable side of Diana Prince. She is faced with weakness both in physical and emotional forms and she overcomes them in a true heroic manner. We get to see never before seen 'gadgets' and super powers of Wonder Woman.

Please pay no attention to the negative fake reviews from Marvel fanboys. They are only here to give it a 1 star rating because that is what Marvel trolls do. This is their natural habitat. Please ignore them and enjoy this excellent addition to the amazing DC universe. DC is constantly showing Marvel kiddy films how comic book films should be made for grown ups.

Do yourself a favor. Enjoy this perfect film. Thank me later.

Sleepy Hollow (1999)
5/10
Mundane Childish Affair
7 October 2020
While I have immense respect for Tim Burton as an artist and as a film maker, I must acknowledge the fact that he can only produce art that is fit for children. Even if it's an R rated horror film such as "Sleep Hollow", you'll only be served with a horror comedy that can easily be watched by a 5 year old.

Sleep Hollow is by no means a weak film, however, it does not do justice to the legend of Sleep Hollow. Like all Tim Burton's films, there's a child-like feel to it.

It seems TB cannot produce a scary film. Not anyone's fault, but when I prepare myself to watch an old legend told as an R Rated film, I expect just that. Not just childish beheadings and a wooden performance by Jonny Depp.

To each their own. Happy Halloween 2020.

Spree (2020)

A very dark and real look at our daily obsession with Social Media
7 October 2020
Spree is a very relatable, chilling and realistic look at today's youths' (some adults as well) obsession with documenting their lives on Social Media for likes and followers. The 24/7 audience can be a very dangerous mind altering experience for someone with pre existing mental conditions. It's dopamine overload and people would go to any lengths to gain popularity and a big SM following.

Joe Keery is believable as Kurt Kunkle and does a great job. We all know many such people who are on the verge of snapping.

The future is here and this film is a good showcase of the dangers it brings with it. 90 minutes of fun. This is Halloween 2020 season. Give it a go. Don't expect too much and enjoy.

The Invisible Man (I) (2020)
6/10
A very underwhelming attempt at rebooting the Universal Monster franchise
11 May 2020
Being a fan of the original Universal Movie Monsters i.e. Frankenstein, The Wolfman, The Mummy, etc. I was quite eager to watch The Invisible Man when it was first announced. To give a fair assessment, this movie is on the same level as the 2010 Wolfman remake. I am not sure why they needed to go with an R rating when clearly, it wasn't used to its full potential in both these films and especially in the Invisible Man.

It would have been fair to have put The Invisible Man under the category of Sci-Fil/Action/Thriller rather than Horror. It has a decent start but like most other recent films, loses its plot after the halfway mark. Starting from the mental hospital sequence, there is little that makes sense and the plot becomes akin to a slice of Swiss cheese. The CGI is sub par.

I give it a 6 because I would like Universal to not give up on it's quest to resurrect its monsters. I really wanted to see a great monster movie in the Invisible Man 2020 but sadly this wasn't the case.

Wahlberg couldn't save this train wreck of a film.
6 March 2020
Annoying, shallow characters with a Bollywood like script. I had high hopes for this but was left severely disappointed. The script has more plot holes than a slide of cheddar.

Avoid it if you can. This is not even a good popcorn flick.

PC Mexican Chic-fil-A
15 January 2020
This is what happens when you take one of the best sci-fi thrillers of the 80s and try to re-hash it for the status quo. I had no hopes for this to be completely honest and I watched it solely for witnessing Schwarzenegger reprising his role as the T-800. This chick flick Terminator has nothing to offer for the fans of the original and the remake. Even the 2003 T3 was largely superior to this tripe.

One plus: The original score and the ending credits that go along with it.

Tsk Tsk.

The Twilight Zone (2019–2020)
10/10
Finally a worthy remake of Rod Serling's The Twilight Zone
29 May 2019
When I first saw the reviews and ratings on iMDB, I almost gave this show a pass. But being a huge fan of all the Twilight Zone shows, I decided to watch the first episode and decide for myself.

And boy am I glad I did. This is a very cleverly written social satire and gets better with each episode. It is obvious that it has pissed off a lot of white viewers with their political associations and agendas (not worth mentioning) and they have made it their duty to bad mouth this show on here.

Do not believe the negativity. The Twilight Zone 2019 is back and it's bigger and better than ever. It's up there with "Black Mirror".

10/10.

Ta Da! What a piece of S*%T!
22 April 2019
This movie makes "The Nun" feel like a masterpiece. Set in the 70's, the film revolves around the story of a widow who works for Child Protective Services in LA.

This film has ZERO scare value. La Llorona has to be the most ineffective ghost in the history of ghost films. She just can't seem to kill anyone after the first two kids who die to get the film a R rating. There is nothing in the film that justifies the R rating. This could easily have been a PG film. The entire film is poorly lit to make it seem more atmospheric but it fails miserably in this regard as most of the times you can't see what's going on in the scene.

The ending is especially cringe worthy with the forced "Ta Da!". Holy Sh**!

Not scary, very dull and boring at even 95 minutes. Please avoid watching this drivel so in the future we do not have to sit through crap like this. These film makers should not be allowed to make horror movies.

2/10. I give it 2 because of Linda Cardellini's acting.

Captain Dullsville
8 March 2019
Let's get something straight. Marvel films are targeted at people who don't like serious or well thought out films. They're more like cartoons brought to life for a lighthearted experience. Nothing wrong with that when you're below the age of 14.

Without giving any of the plot away, the film rests on the prowess of Capt. Marvel who is a relatively unknown Marvel character whose name has been stolen from Shazam aka the original Captain Marvel.

The action sequences and VFX are sub par like Thor Ragnarok (another joke of a film). The humor is also forced as always in a Marvel film.

This film also tries very hard to be Wonder Woman at times but fails miserably. I'd give this one a pass or watch it at home when it comes out on Digital download.

3/10. A letdown from Marvel. Nothing new here.

Venom (2018)

A huge letdown. From an honest reviewer
9 October 2018
This movie had potential to be great. I say that because I have enjoyed most if not all Tom Hardy films in the past. This movie has a very engaging beginning. The first 55 minutes are very interesting and keep you engrossed.

As soon as Brock turns in to Venom, that is when things start going downhill. It's as if the first hour of the movie was directed by a completely different director than the one who directed the second half. Riz Ahmad's Riot is laughable. The dialogue between Venom and Riot is cringe worthy. The final battle scene between the two is embarrassing.

I really wanted to enjoy the film but the second half and ending of the film was pathetic. It goes hand in hand with DC's Suicide Squad albeit slightly worse.

The best superhero movie ever made
15 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
So I woke up at 6:30 am to watch the first screening of Justice League at 7:45 am. I booked myself the best IMAX seat in the theater. There were only a handful of people on the balcony section. So there, I had the perfect setting.

The movie starts off with a video phone recording of Superman. It has a very positive start. It follows off with building up on the rest of the Superheros including Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and a nice emotional scene of Barry Allen (The Flash) with his father in prison.

The tone of the movie is very upbeat and also dark in places where required. Steppenwolf is a worthy adversary albeit made up entirely of CGI. I had no problem with CGI at all. His devotion to world domination was portrayed as best as it can be. Perfect comic book to screen adaptation.

The team comes together very nicely and we see the reason why they must all come together since as individuals, they are unable to thwart Steppenwolf's plan to acquire the 3 motherboxes.

Spoilers Ahead:

The best part of the film was the rebirth scene of Superman. It is hands down the best portrayal of the comic book Superman on screen EVER. It shows his true prowess and why he is the true leader of the Justice League; mowing down the likes of WW, Batman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash as if they're mere annoyances. The best line from Kal- El to Bruce in that scene, "Tell me something, do you bleed?". Pure awesomeness.

The action is amazing, the CGI and special effects are perfect and the story and characters all have a very sincere depth to them. I had no doubt in my mind that Zack Snyder will deliver and boy, did he ever. The soundtrack pays perfect homage to past Superman and Batman.

Stay past the credits ALL the way and you will be surprised twice.

This is the Superman and JL movie I have been waiting for all my life. Do not believe the naysayers and the bubblegum superhero fans.

This is the DC Comic book film to rule over ALL other superhero films out there of past, present and future.

Baby Driver (2017)
5/10
Not too bad a film but a huge let down due to false IMDb ratings
24 July 2017
Heist movies seem to be the rage these days. Well, heist and superhero movies. Whilst Free Fire was an entertaining and somewhat funny film, Baby Drivers fails at that. The plot is predictable, the story has bigger plot holes than the tire rims used in the souped up cars during car chase scenes. John Hamm's character turns swiftly from a suave and smooth bank robber in to the Terminator that makes little sense. He fails to achieve his purpose.

Jamie Foxx on the other hand did justice to his role albeit it was lukewarm due to how his character has been written in the script.

Soapy romance that tries to make heroes out of Bonnnie & Clyde and makes a martyr out of Kevin Spacey for no good cause other than to give the film a happy ending.

By far, this is Edgar Wright's weakest. I was expecting Hot Fuzz's quirkiness and dark tone, Shaun of the Dead's hilarity and The World's End's absurdness. I got none of that from this film. Fanboys will give it a 10 while I shake my head in disbelief.

5.5/10 at best.

Inconceivable (2017)

Inconceivable indeed
10 July 2017
The movie currently sits at a 6.9 rating on IMDb with over 1,500 votes. I went in to see this film with little or no expectations because of the fact that this plot has been done to death and then some more.

I enjoy a good thriller in the fashion of The hand that rocks the cradle etc.

Where do I begin with this film? What distracted me the most? Let's list them down: Unbelievable characters that made me scratch my head at their every decition? Shoddy Drone work for aerial videography? I can shoot more steady footage with my drone. Plot holes that were simply inconceivable? After 50 minutes in to the movie, I was not sure how they would carry the film for another 60 minutes?

Somehow I managed to survive. Nothing new from Nic Cage obviously as he has been on a downward spiral.

Please save yourself the agony. I give it a 3/10 and not a 1/10 simply because I'm a sucker for thrillers.

Unforgettable (II) (2017)
7/10
Decent thriller/drama.
24 April 2017
This is Fatal Attraction x 10. We have all seen this before. Begrudging and resentful ex/wife etc. cannot accept that her man has moved on. Playing the innocent victim while framing the new woman who has come in to his ex husband's life.

While this film is clearly a 6/10 at the most, I rated it a 7 due to the negativity revolving around it.

The movie is by no means a masterpiece or anything new that we have not seen before, yet it is a decent drama which kept me entertained.

Dawson and Heigl work well in their respective roles. Decent acting paired with average direction and obvious plot holes, Unforgettable should be watched at home as it is clearly note worth the ticket price at the cinema. Personally, I enjoyed it.

Mystical and Immersive
3 November 2016
I would like to state the fact that I am foremost a comic book fan and grew up reading all sort of comics. My favorite was always DC (Superman and Batman particularly) but I never let that fact get in the way of my enjoyment. A good comic book story was a good comic book story at the end of the day.

Doctor Strange is not as well known a character as the other Marvel Comic giants like Spiderman, The Hulk etc. Growing up, I always used to skip past the Doctor Strange bundle of comic books and pick up more well known character based comic books. Although, I was always intrigued by the well drawn covers of magical and mythical beings.

When I saw the trailer come out last year, my intrigue was piqued once again. So this morning, I went in to see the first show of Doctor Strange at my local cinema.

The film starts off with a very immersive and impactful introduction that immediately drew me in. Doctor Stephen Strange is a strange character indeed who is not your typical do-gooder. Yet even with all his shortcomings and arrogance, I felt connected to his character and I was very eager to see his transformation and I was not disappointed.

All the characters are very well written. Mads Mikelsen's character was not as menacing as I would have liked him to be. Nonetheless, he is a worthy opponent to Doctor Stephen Strange.

The multi-dimensional VFX play a very important role in the cinematography and are done extremely well and tastefully. I enjoyed the pacing, the action, the humor and VFX.

The Stan Lee cameo and post credits scene with a well known Marvel giant is a tradition and is always a nice touch.

I would highly recommend this film to all comic book fans. Please let's not indulge in the rather childish comparison between DC and Marvel and enjoy a great comic book adaptation to the silver screen.

A comic book lover.

Snowden (2016)

Excellent Film. Stone is back in the game
18 September 2016
The movie explores the life of Ed Snowden in the ten year period from 2003 to 2013 and the aftermath of Whistleblowing of the NSA and the US spy agencies.

The movie was over 2 hours long but it never lost the plot and has amazing character development for every main character in the film. We feel the what Snowden went through from his early discharge from the army, his time with the CIA and NSA and during his various global deployment to the final whistleblowing.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt was great as always in his role in the way that he portrays Ed Snowden. His mannerisms to his voice, everything was spot on. Shailene Woodley adds a very emotional and personal touch to Snowden's complicated ordeal and is a great supporting actor in this role.

Oliver Stone manages to stay true to the accounts and tells the story of what goes on in the CIA and NSA and hopes to open our eyes and start questioning our governments in regards to our personal privacy and existence.

Highly recommended. 9/10

Suicide Squad (2016)
6/10
A decent action film with never before seen DC characters.
5 August 2016
As always, RT nonsense score and reviews aside, I went in with no expectations. I love my comic books (DC & Marvel) both. Both publishing houses have created some of the best fictional characters out there.

Suicide Squad has always been a side project of sorts including in the comic books. The movie for me was taken as such.

That is exactly what I got. A 7/10 comic book action flick which had some great action sequences with Deadshot. Harley and Joker didn't do much for me and neither did the rest of the 'squad'.

We are lucky to be living in such wonderful times where comic book film adaptations are a plenty. In my days, we were lucky to get one film in years.

Nonetheless, I enjoyed the film. I would say do not believe RT, IMDb ratings or Marvel fanboys. Go in with an open mind and enjoy a decent action film.
