Seriously... do not waste your time on this movie.
16 April 2024
Honestly the fact that it has a 5.5 at 19 thousand ratings is astounding to me. This movie does not deserve that high a rating. The acting was mediocre at best. They emoted somewhat, and at least hit their lines and marks. There is a bit of inteigue to draw you in but its just not worth it. The whole premise is easily figured out within the first 20 minutes, and then it just draws out what could have all been done in the span of half an hour.

Truthfully it fizzled out. There was lots of potential for this to have been a good movie but they just completely dropped the ball.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!

WHAT!?! What even was that ending?!?!
29 August 2023
Ok but honestly it was truly shot beautifully like others have stated. For being an international film with clearly some money put into it with the special effects it wasn'thalf bad. However it was so confusing when getting closer to the end I can see why others said it was muddled. It felt like two different stories shoved together but in chunks instead of a good shuffling. It's the end that made me give it the low rating. That ending literally came out of nowhere and made absolutely zero sense as to why they even set it up like that.

So do go in to this knowing the acting was alright, scenery and filming was well done, but the story really gets out of hand.

Baby Blue (2023)

WAY better than I was expecting!
25 June 2023
Honestly this was one of the best independent films I've seen in while. It truly had me jump a couple times and was well edited.

I wanted to watch this to see Cyrus Arnold. Loved him in Mr. Harrigan's Phone, and wanted to see him in a less mean role. He did amazingly! He sold it on the fear factor and just hit it out of the ballpark on his choices for his character's reactions.

The other cast members were great too! The siblings played well off each other. Baby Blue just was fantastic with his serial killer vibes. He kind of reminded me a bit of Ricardo "the Night Stalker" Ramirez meets Henry Bowers.

I tried to like it but I just can't.
1 February 2023
As a big fan of Supernatural I was really hoping this was going to turn out well. Since this got greenlit and not Wayward Daughters, this is really a let down.

I'm liking the choices for the main characters, Mary and John, they're decent for the direction they are being given but honestly the "scooby gang" side kicks just aren't cutting it for me. They feel too modern and forced into the story, and it just doesn't feel well integrated.

As for the story line I'm already not too keen on it. Somethings are being shown sooner than we would have expected. It just is a big fat no for me and my household.

Cryptid (2022)

I honestly enjoyed it for what it is
31 January 2023
It's a reasonable indepent film for what it is. It has good direction, decent acting, and the story was well done for being what it is.

It's really not got you on the edge of your seat but it does have some good creepy moments. The creature itself is ok for a low budget film, basically it could be better but it could absolutely have been worse.

I very much liked how they had all the "research" put into it for this being a cryptid story.

It was well thought out and you do get a bit attached to some of the characters, so it's got decent character development as well.

Overall its not amazing but I enjoyed it and would love to see a sequel to this film.

Just couldn't do it...
12 December 2022
Do heed the warnings of this waste of time. I made it through 19 minutes and called it quits. It's just not worth it honestly.

As stated by another reviewer the dialog is crap. Its just ramblings of everyday people who work at a record store. Someone else tried to compare it to Clerks, but honestly this is nowhere near that to any degree.

I just couldn't make it.

I was really hoping to see Abraham (aka Kubiak) as a bad guy, but putting the first person view from his perspective for a scene just didn't keep me wanting to watch.

At this point I'm writing to just say DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, it is really not worth the minutes and money.

Not your normal schmaltzy Christmas film
3 December 2022
First off this is a MAJORLY independent film, it was funded through Kickstarter.

Secondly there's more to the story and it's really good!

Came across this silly movie on Peacock and honestly glad we gave it a chance. It's truly not your average family drama Christmas story with comedy in it.

No it may not have the best writing but it's quaint in its simplicity as a whole. The interactions with the actors is cute, silly, and at times much like real family.

If you get easily weepy with emotions this will bring a couple tears to your eyes.

Had I known about this kickstarter I very likely would have help fund it too.

Thanks... I hated it.

Warning: Spoilers
I am ever so happy that I didn't waste the ridiculous price for a "Fathom" events viewing of this flop.

Firstly my theater only showed it for 2 nights, not 3. Secondly I am so disappointed with the direction they went with this I wish it had never been done.

They used Dee Wallace and the guy at the beginning to try and pull you in. It didn't work, it angered me at first because of the bad writing. Then to make it out as a reenactment of what took place just made it campy.

The woman protagonist would let her accent slip sometimes. Not angry at her, just up set with the choice of casting and filming mostly outside the US.

The background scenery looked like stuff you see in a VR game. At times the sets themselves mixed with the bad cgi background reminded me of a way better movie than this called Stay Alive, especially the plantation house the group goes into for the trap.

By the way where the heck did they get the idea that a cult group that feeds it was the way to go with this???

I could go on but I won't. There's so much wrong with this horrible film I don't want to continue.

If they had just done it as some random creature film story and not connect it with one of my favorite franchises I would have simply written it off as a SyFy made for TV movie and probably given it a 3 or 4.

More of a let down than I expected.
9 November 2022
I love all sorts of horror, B/C even a horribly D rated film. So my choices aren't always the best, some can't even be watched past 10 minutes sometimes. This one... it had a good start. A few decent scares bit it truly could have been more. For a movie being based on a faith it really had very little.

The plot was decent, the acting well done for the cast it had, but the substance just wasn't there. It just felt flat at times. A bit of wanting in the film. It had its bought of cliche like any film does these days. But it just was lacking that umph to make it a truly good scary movie.

If I could write for them I would, but alas I can only critique with my few decades of life and watching various styles of horror. Hopefully if ever they choose to do an add on to the story, maybe they could expand and give it the more it needs.

Seriously, don't watch this drivel.
28 October 2022
Truly, honestly save yourself the brain melt that is this film.

Gave it maybe 10 minutes of my time, and that's including the opening credits, and decided that 1) the acting of these absolutely horrendous kids was not worth continuing and 2) the comment from the first adult we run into, the security guard who vaguely reminded me of Sloth from The Goonies, is extremely disgusting and should never had been said in a supposedly young teens movie.

Within the short 10 minutes that I wasted on trying to watch what could have been interesting premise of a movie, I learned that this film is not one I would ever suggest to anyone.

Please do yourself a favor and heed the warnings of the reviews. How anyone is giving it higher than a 2 is beyond me.

Adult Jumanji with not so much horror really
22 September 2022
It's a fun movie about friends going about life in their thirties. Love, heartbreak, life and death, you know... the usual things we all go through.

Then life throws you different curves balls, not usually in the form of a drinking game made to send you to eternal damnation, but hey science doesn't explain all.

It has a decent budget for being low. The acting was a bit over the top at times but it's a comedy and honestly well done.

I enjoyed it for what it is. People being put in unusual situations made to test their character and make them see who they really are. And hopefully come out of it together, stronger, and very likely alive.

Not worth the time.
24 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Seriously do listen to a lot of the low star ratings. I did not and now feel very let down by the description of this movie. It sounds good, but don't waste your time.

Slow burn with some build up but a very massive let down of an ending. You're left wondering what was really going on with the fiancé and his father, and the employer that hired the main man.

Honestly just don't.

I just couldn't get through it.
14 March 2022
I really had hopes because of the description and the first actors listed. All the actors did well for what they were given. Honestly what I could get through was decent enough, but it drags on. Literally at the half way mark I stopped. I couldn't take the length of time they took for a lot of the scenes. I do try to finish most of what I watch, but when I saw it still had a whole other hour to it, I called it quits. And I've watched swill such as Terror Toons. That was years ago and a learning lesson that led to the reason for my inability to finish this movie.

How this has a 7.4 rating I'll never know.
13 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Honestly I understand this film to be a low budget indie film. However the story itself is not that amazing to give it the supposed 7.4 rating it has.

The story of the haunted house is fairly interesting with the interviews done like a ghost hunting TV series. An evil ghost keeping other ghosts trapped and somehow adding to the collection. But that is where it stops.

The acting by the team was very amateur, again I understand it is indie. That doesn't explain how it got worse at the last quarter of the film.

The ending itself its just badly done with the "Greek fire" being a ritual and not actual items like in proper text of Greek fire. The evil spirit battle was just rushed in earnest.

This film is just not what it makes it out to be in the preview prime has set up and the disingenuous ratings it has been given.

Would not recommend to anyone.

Decent but a bit artsy at times
7 February 2022
The plot is fairly predictable if you've watched plenty of horror films. This one was decent in that it had a couple of good named actors, used to beef it up. The main characters were ok, but not awful.

It was drug out a bit in a few scenes that were made to be artsy it seemed. The movie could honestly have been in done in about half the time.

Over all not horrid but not fantastic either.

It's an indie film, take it at that.
18 January 2022
The movie does lose some semblance of cohesion during some cave scenes, but really this is just someone else's take on Descent. It's got flaws but what doesn't.

The acting is fair, decent plot but execution could have been a bit better. Again it's an indie film, and I've seen A LOT worse indie films that somehow have better ratings.

Honestly a unique slasher film
7 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The premise is what got me and the main actors kept me in it.

Yes the beginning is a bit awful with the first victim's acting and the "Doctor's" monologue not really making sense. Once you get past the first 5 minutes it does get better.

The sibling chemistry between the main characters works well, especially the older brother's acting. Plus the step dad is a reasonable actor himself, though he's barely in it.

The rest gets rather cliche but the twists were fun and made it worthwhile.

Not your average slasher for sure, but definitely one all cult film enthusiasts will enjoy.

Seriously, do heed the lower reviews.
27 April 2021
I took the word of someone on just going into this movie not knowing what it was about. Welp... I dislike this movie very much. Not to say that the acting wasn't good. They hit their marks very well. Clearly a decently funded movie, but honestly this was not worth the amount of time that it was made into. The story could have been done in 30 to 45 minutes. Doubling it truly dragged it on longer than was needed.

I liked the syfy version better
30 September 2018
Having watched another movie of the same exact name come out on syfy last year, I prefer it than this.

It was decent but the end pissed me off. In the syfy version it was a much better concept of getting out alive.
