The Covenant (2006)
The Covenant
This movie has an interesting storyline and concept. It almost has a Charmed type theme to it except it involves 4 witch covens. This movie is basically a typical storyline of bad guy vs good guy and a girl is involved. I think this movie could of put to better use if it has been in a TV show type format. Maybe more details could of come out and we could of learned about the characters pasts in depth instead of just a few minutes of information given in the movie. Otherwise, I thought this movie was pretty good and the actors were mediocre. I would recommend this movie more for teens because I think it falls into their category and kind of deals with teen concepts.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006)
Gory and Good
Before going to see this movie, I thought that it was going to be cheesy and not as good like the remake that came out a few years ago. After I saw this movie, I thought it was really gross for a horror movie of this time period. Lately, many horror films have been very underrated and not even slightly gross but this one was really gorrific and actually kind of interesting. It gave an incite into Leatherface and how he became the way he is. This movie is way better than the remake that came out a few years ago and in fact, this movie should of been the first to come out to begin with. The other movie would of made more sense if this one had started them all. The actors were actually half way decent for a horror movie compared to others now-a-days. If you like Leatherface, or any of the main horror franchises like Freddy, Jason, Michael Meyers, or even Chucky, then you should like this one because it is really gross at points. I recommend seeing this for all you horror fans out there!
The Hitcher (2007)
The Hitcher
I will openly admit that I have never seen the original but I saw this one with a friend. I thought this movie was nothing great but it wasn't awful either. This movie was only slightly gross and even the actors weren't that great. Sean Bean was the best in the movie and he was actually kind of scary. The girl and the guy didn't seem like very good actors and it almost seemed like they had to put effort into their emotions to get a desired result. The storyline and plot was OK but nothing great. There might of been two gross scenes in the whole movie and even then, they weren't very interesting. This movie didn't even hold you in suspense or make your heart race at was about to happen. It was just another typical horror movie in todays society and even then, I don't know if you could call it that. My friend told me that he heard it is just like the original, well I don't see the point in remaking the same movie if you aren't going to change it at all. Maybe that's why it suffers so.
Alpha Dog (2006)
Alpha Dog
This movie is very short of being great. Once you get past all the swearing, drinking, and drug use, the story is actually kind of interesting but not that great. I'm a Justin Timberlake fan and I thought his acting performance was nothing great. He was good as his character but I feel as if the acting performance didn't really give a chance to see his full potential as an upcoming actor. One of the best performances was by Ben Foster who played the brother of kid who is the main character. I thought his performance stood out the most in the whole movie. Otherwise, this movie was mediocre. It could of been better and a lot of the acting was very lame. Also, I understand that the main point of the story is about choices, but bad things happen to people all the time and of all stories, they choose to make this one into a movie. I'm sure there are other stories out there that are more deserving than this one and it is probably why this movie suffers with crappy actors and a boring storyline.
The Dive from Clausen's Pier (2005)
I thought this was OK
I thought this movie was an OK movie. I never read the book but I really want to. I'm sure I'll like the book more when I read it than the movie but that's besides the point. I thought the story was OK and the thing I really liked was Michelle Tractenberg in this movie. I'm so tired of her playing a teenager or an immature character in some really stupid kiddie movie. In this movie however; I really liked her acting because she got to play a grown up. In real life, she is like 20 and I'm so sick and tired of her playing a kid so this was great. I think if she was given more roles to play as a grown up,her talent would really show. The one thing I didn't like was the ending. It kind of left you hanging on what happened and didn't really explain. I'm hoping the book is better. That's all I liked about this movie.
The Forsaken (2001)
yay!
This movie rules. I think it's awesome how they take a new look on vampires and how the bite infects humans. It's also great how you can only kill vampires on holy ground. Most vampires are the usual. Oh you can kill them with a stake, garlic, silver and all that bullcrap. This vampire movie was way different and I like it. Plus the characters are awesome. The way the vampires bite humans is different too. Usually vampires bite their victims on the neck and it's over with. In The Forsaken they bite their victims anywhere. Oh, the vampires also don't sleep in coffins which get's really old after a while. The only movie that coffins for vampires is good in is Interview With the Vampire.
