not awful, but not good
13 October 2012
This isn't really a horror film, it has it's good parts, and some awful ones as well as some ridiculous ones, the dialog isn't very good in some parts and the characters get a bit annoying at times , in general i think it's watchable movie. The movie feels like more of a comedy but i honestly can't say it is since it probably wasn't meant to be one, You can tell what the movie is supposed to be but it just didn't get there, the characters are kind of a weird thing to judge sine visually i liked what I saw, the makeup and effects weren't perfect but for the most part they had the right idea, my main problem was the story and dialog, it kind of gets ridiculous towards the end. If You want a creepy horror film like The exorcist or Texas chain saw massacre you probably won't enjoy it, this won't scare You in any way, there's nothing creepy about it, i guess the way i would describe the movie is "so bad that you can't stop watching". if You like clown movies or bad horror films You probably want to watch it.

This is just my point of view based on the impression I got from the movie, don't let me stop you from watching the movie that's certainly not the purpose of this review.

Pootie Tang (2001)

finnier than i thought it would be
10 October 2012
I was put off from watching this film for a long time mainly because of the bad rep it has, which after watching the movie i just can't understand. The movie was actually very funny, it is a comedy so maybe the story and the acting aren't flawless, but Chris Rock and Wanda Sykes are pretty good, I had no idea they were in it before watching the movie, the dirty villain guy was hilarious, and personally i thought the whole speech thing with Pootie Tang was funny, even though I had no idea WTF he was saying.

Maybe it's not for everyone, but frankly I don't think it deserves the low rating it has.

Very good film
9 October 2012
I can't really say why is it that I liked this movie so much since I'm not a big fan of westerns, but it has a good story, the acting isn't bad and the characters themselves were interesting(specially Silence). I honestly was amazed by it, specially considering how old as the movie is, I saw this around 2006, i got home from work around 2am, and this was one of the few interesting things that was on, i stayed awake just to finish watching it, and was glad that I did, since the ending is the best part of the movie, You just don't see an ending like this one very often. The movie is a bit violent, but it doesn't cross the line to a point to where it's just pointless violence or too graphic. Regardless of whether or not You like westerns, I think the is a movie You will enjoy, specially if You like being surprised.

Thirst (2009)

Better than i expected
26 September 2012
I like to keep my reviews short, i rather review the film than compare it or describe it scene by scene like a lot of people like to do, so let's get to it.

I honestly came close to not finishing the movie because I was looking for scary and this isn't much of that, but there is A LOT of blood and violence. The only reason I kept watching was because even though it wasn't creepy or scary, it was a beautifully shot and very well made film. The story feels different than other vampire movies it's not just a bunch of the same old vampire clichés. the acting is good for the most part, personally i think the 2 main characters were amazing. It's kind of long, but the movie gets better as it progresses, the ending is nothing less than what You would expect(considering who directed the film).

So in short, if you're looking for scary in the traditional sense You won't find it here, but if You're a fan of the Vampire and gore genres or just want to watch a good movie You'll certainly enjoy it.

Dracula (1931)
1/10
Soooooooooo bad
20 September 2012
It's worth watching for all horror lovers, I admit that it's a classic, just for the being Dracula -one of the biggest names when it comes to horror, but the movie it self is very poorly made, it just seems to be a bunch of scenes mashed together, the acting was beyond awful, most of it seems like a bad rehearsal, Lugosi while he did have a creepy face it just didn't seem to fit Dracula, he looks more like the Monopoly man before he went bald on a bad acid trip. I tried to be opened minded when i watched the movie since the movie is from 1931 (as I am whenever I watch a film this old) so i knew not to expect much, but even with that in mind I just can't understand how can anyone in their right mind can say this is the best or even one of the best horror movies ever, Nosferatu is even older and i find it to be better than this, the director seemed to have a better vision. I've seen many other movies from around the same time and even earlier and they weren't this badly acted or directed. All in all I suppose if You are a horror fan you should still watch it, i just wanted to post a review from my point of view, just a regular guy who loves old horror movies, i don't think a movie should automatically be considered good just because it's old.
