Beauty and the Beast (2017)
Didn't do justice to the original
From the moment I've heard that they will be making live version of Disney's 1991 'Beauty and the Beast' movie, I was beyond excited, and when the first teaser trailer came out I almost started crying because it seemed so promising and made me shiver and nostalgic. Then other trailers started coming out - it still looked promising. Then, I heard Emma singing and that's when I became doubtful. I really hated the way she sang, it seemed so robotic and not even close to the original. But OK, I still decided to give movie a chance. But unfortunately,my suspicions were confirmed - I left the theater slightly disappointed. Whole movie seemed so forced and unnatural, and, like someone already said - Emma keeps playing the same role in all movies, her facial expressions are not much different from Harry Potter and other roles she played. Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts...they were all kind of creepy (especially Mrs. Potts and Chip) and unconvincing. The only two characters that were actually very well played are those of LeFou and Gaston.
As for the songs, they were actually OK most of the time, considering that some of them were "destroyed" for me, like 'Be our guest' - how could they mess up with that song?? And as for Emma's singing, it didn't sound THAT bad when you actually watch the film, but still - Paige O'Hara is unbeatable (sorry Emma), and they added some new songs, of which I really liked Evermore.
About transformation scene, it was SO MUCH BETTER in the original, it just seemed to happen so fast and with lack of emotions (considering the fact that this scene was my favorite in the 1991 original and always brought tears to my eyes, I could say that in this movie it was slightly destroyed for me). I wouldn't say it's THAT bad, but could they make it much better? Definitely yes. And about love story between Belle and Beast, it was not convincing at all. In the original you could at least see how romantic story between them is developing, in here - not so much. And about library scene - completely destroyed. In the original you could feel (not just see, but feel) how Belle felt first time she saw the library, and in this version not at all.
I could go all day like this, but I won't. I made my point and I hope I helped you with my review. :)
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 (2015)
Worst part of the trilogy
While Mockingjay pt.1 was exciting and full of action, Part 2 was lacking of it. Before I went to see the film, few people told me it was quite boring to them and one even said she wanted to leave the cinema at least 4x while watching the film. Even I, who is great fan of the franchise, almost fell asleep few times during the film. The problem is, film is to "raw" and it seems like no one didn't feel like acting or writing qualitative screenplay. Also, it lacks of emotions. When Prim died, I expected to see Katniss outraged, worried, furious, actually I expected to see normal human reaction when you loose someone you truly care about and love, especially if it's someone close to you like brother or sister. She did react like that later, but not when she supposed to (I mean, at the exact moment when she lost her sister). It was weird altogether. Also, in the end, we see that she and Peeta have 2 children and she seems happy about it. But I don't think that Katniss from the book seemed to be happy with children; she only said she had them because Peeta wanted that, but she never stated she was happy or sad about it. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know, but I talked with few people about it and they all share the same opinion. Anyway, to cut a long story short - this part is disaster, lacks of action and emotions, and is not worth of wasting money on it. Hopefully I helped.
Pitch Perfect 2 (2015)
Disappointing
I probably had high expectations from this sequel since I am highly disappointed by it. The movie is OK, but it lacks originality and forces some jokes that aren't even funny. For example, the character of Florencia, a senior student from Guatemala, is Barden Bella version of Sophia Vergara, only with bad jokes. Didn't laugh once. It also lacks romance. I feel like they put romantic story line between Emily and Benji just because, it's not even developed that much, and I miss more of Becca and Jesse, they literally kissed just once and that's it. I expected to see more of them in this sequel. Also, I read that they are planning to make PP3, which I think is really too much. The girls are finishing their colleges and are going to graduate, which means that Barden Bellas are over. I literally have no idea what the third part will be about, maybe Becca will tutor the next generations of Bella's, but I'm kind of skeptical about it. However, I really like songs and the finale of the film (even more than of the prequel). It gave me chills and it was really beautiful. All in all, the movie is nothing special, but it's watchable.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 (2014)
"Are you are you coming to the tree..."
Despite negative reviews from some fans and critics, I found this movie one of the best movies I've watched this year, and so far the best part of this trilogy. It is the part with most action and it made me even emotional (which didn't happen with "Hunger games" or "Catching fire") because it reminded me on current situation in the world and how it could end. I liked the fact that Katniss and members of other districts stood up against Snow and his Peacekeepers, although some people died for it which shows that they've had enough of Capitol's torture. I must admit I haven't read the book so I'm not sure if dividing movie in two parts was good idea, but it seems that if they made Mockingjay like one movie, it would be all messed up, so I think this was maybe even good idea.
I don't know why are everyone being so critical about J.Law, but I think her performance was stunning. She's the same age as I am and it's hard to believe that at the age of 24 she can be that great actress and that she can merge with her character so deep. I truly admire her. Part where she sang "The Hanging tree" song was amazing, and when rebels started also singing it before they attacked dam gave me chills. I can't wait for the 2nd part next year!
