Sam utilizes his time outside of University to better himself. He enters contests regularly which has resulted in him becoming a finalist in a half hour pilot contest and has been a winner in9 the first 10 pages of a screenplay contest www.wildsound.ca This will be showcased on 30th June and read out by professional Canadian actors, which will then be uploaded to You tube, for people to view.
In 2011, he was chosen to be an on-line judge for the Ruby Mountain Film Festival, Elko, Nevada and this caused him to volunteer as an on-line judge for the Cambridge Water Sprite Film Festival, UK.
Sam found that he enjoys critiquing other peoples work in a helpful way and after reviewing many screenplays on www.circalit.com , he was offered payment in exchange for feedback on a script. Never one to pass up an opportunity, he accepted and the client was suitably satisfied. This led Sam to start his own Script Consultancy and Development website www.redruststudios.com You can view many testimonials here.
It is from this website that Sam is currently adapting a novella into a screenplay for an author that he connected with, as well as rewriting a separate screenplay for another client.
Sam has recently had the success of being a runner up in the Great American Short Screenplay Competition 2012, hosted by the Film School in Seattle, of which he had won a $500 partial scholarship.
Although he has written many short screenplays and has sold a few, Sam is currently in pre-production stages of his first official short which will be filmed locally and hopefully be his foot-in-the-door.

Freezer (2014)
This was a great effort on a low budget.
This movie may not be for everybody, however, I enjoyed this.
I won't lie and say that the first ten minutes, that is supposedly what you need to draw a viewer in was riveting. This needed a little work and could have been made stronger.
However, as the story progressed, I began to empathise with the lead character. Wrong place, wrong time, who hasn't been in that situation?
For a limited location movie, and a limited cast movie, this was a hit in my eyes. The chemistry from the actors showed and this only increased the enjoyability of the film.
As a screenwriter, I can appreciate a great premise.
Thanks
