I Am a Stalker (2022)
Chilling Level of Delusion
It's not the glossy true crime documentary we've grown to expect from Netflix, but the simplicity of it allows us to appreciate how truly delusional stalkers are and pay close attention to what they say and how they say it. If you pay close attention you're able to identify the subtle tactics and manipulation these people employ.
The stories are truly chilling and the really made me put myself into the victims's shoes and the unimaginable burden of living in constant fear. It brings the message home that there are people like this out there who simply won't let things go and the notion of that is very scary.
Echoes (2022)
The sheriff
I was initially intrigued, but as the series progressed it just got very boring and far-fetched.
And the sheriff was such a bad, flat character. Just conveniently there when people are having suspicious conversations, always pulling of the same 'don't mind me but I have some questions, act. So ridiculous.
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Just WOW
This movie really takes you back, it feels like you're watching an old school 90s flick. I don't write reviews usually, but i was so impressed with this, it was just perfect!
The Wheel of Time (2021)
You Shall Not Watch!
This was rather painful to watch. Four episodes in and I have to idea what's going on. The story makes it difficult to care or connect with the any of the characters. Although cinematography is decent and sets are pretty without strong story, characters and good dialogue it's not adding much to the whole.
Somebody Feed Phil (2018)
Agree with a lot of reviewers
I like the concept of the show, but actually you just end up watching a guy eating, don't learn very much. The host is soooooo obnoxious, annoying and even disrespectful at times. It's really awkward to watch him interact with people, also the show is more about him than the actual people, food and travel.
Dead to Me (2019)
Doesn't have to be mock!
I rarely write reviews, but I have to say I have lost count of the number of times I laughed. This show is so good! The second season is as good as the first one so far.
Judy and Jen play off of each other really well. Writing is great, the dark humour is excellent. I also love the fact that two main characters are women who seem real and tangible.
Love it!
Kusama: Infinity (2018)
Amazing story of a female artist's struggle in the male-dominated world
I love Kusama's work, but didn't have high expectations of this documentary beyond being informative. I very pleasantly surprised how good it was. Kusama's story is very touching as she struggles to make it as an artist in the male-dominated art world, whilst battling her own interior demons.
This documentary presents her story in an engaging way and rightfully celebrates one of the biggest contemporary female artists to date.
Chasing Coral (2017)
Touching, funny, relevant
This is my first review on IMDb. I got a chance to see this film at Sundance London and it was so incredibly inspiring that I felt this film must be seen by people. Sadly this screening coincided with Trump pulling out of the Paris climate change deal, which makes this film even more important.
The director Jeff Orlowski and his crew embark on a quest to document and show the audience how quick and devastating the effects of global warming are on the coral reefs around the world.
The documentary has funny laugh-out-loud moments, takes us on an emotional journey where we see how deeply the filmmakers care for this subject, but most importantly it brings the message home - that things are changing and something needs to be done. A fantastic, motivating and hopeful film that is 100% relevant to the issues we face today, not to mention the stunning cinematography 10/10
