The Flag (2016)

Enjoyable bad movie
25 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Not wrote a review for a while. This movie is basically an indie movie but the premis is simple enough that there were no crazy scenes that needed CGI or expensive locations. So it looked pretty decent and it worked relatively well over all. There were some serious daft parts where you laugh at the movie rather than with it but it's enjoyable.

I felt the live story part was badly paced some of the scenes seemed long but overall enjoyed the script. I'm not a huge part short fan but the acting was fine, pacing was slow to start but I enjoyed the heist part with the band of eejits.

I had a genuine laugh at the horse showing up at the end I didn't actually expect that but the shots riding the horse were terrible, which I also got a laugh out of. Same with the police chase where they were throwing bread and cones out of the truck.

I was less of a fan of the dramatic "death" scene at the end because mouse would obviously live. If there was more tension or stakes it might have been emotional and if the movie was trying to make fun of scenes like it I didn't find it funny.

Anyway 8/10 is pretty high. I rate based on how much I enjoyed it which was a lot. Doesn't make it a good movie. It has slow moments but a relatively interesting script, the love story drags a bit, there's plenty of moments that are funny as well as film making on a budget that made me laugh but overall it was entertaining. Don't expect great things from it and it's time well spent from watching

Undrafted (2016)

Decent movie i might watch again sometime
30 October 2016
Went to look at the user reviews and realised there's none here so I said I'd right a quick one. Its about a local baseball team where one of the players doesn't get drafted when he supposedly should have. It takes place over one match in the play off semi final. Its low budget I like the concept its got a bit of drama and a few laughs. The acting is decent is well i think its worth the watch.

If you like low budget sports movies this is really good even as big sports movies go it shows a lot more of the game than most, kinda has to as it takes place during one game but i found that to be nice something different.

Anyway I enjoyed it and would say its worth the watch

Pretty bad
5 September 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Watched this movie with high hopes because I loved the first 300 which had a great cast, action, build up and so on. 300 rise of an empire was just terrible and I'm not going to watch it again

Starting with the good points: Lots of action SOME good characters more action good visuals

And a lot more bad points -Story starts before 300 was set then runs alongside it then passes it out while I like this idea the transition wasn't done well and I was lost for part of the movie -The character build up was done for only two characters (Sullivan Stapleton) Themistocles and (Eva Green) Artemisia -Eva Green was pretty good but everyone else was mediocre -Sullivan Stapleton was OK but could not-compare to Gerard Butler in the first movie

I don't mind how historically accurate it is (the more the better though) so I wont hold that against it

I'm sure there's stuff I've forgotten but anyway.

If I want to see a bad action movie set in that era Pompeii jumps to mind. At least I'd watch that twice I cant forget this movie soon enough and I hope the squeal is better or doesn't come out

Better than Olympus has fallen
23 May 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Just after watching this movie as well as Olympus has fallen an extremely similar movie about the white house being taken over. And I was very surprised to find I enjoyed this one more

SPOILERS FOR BOTH MOVIES

Im not gonna go into great detail of the plot but it is very cheesy but I had expected and for the most part wont complain about it. Sure a trained soldier turned bodyguard is trapped in the white house and is the only one left to fight. The white house is taken over by about 15 people at a guess which doesn't seem reasonable to be honest but I think its better than the 40 that went in Olympus has fallen movie where they staged an all out war and the assailants lost 12 people running across the lawn. Anyway moving on this movie had a more obvious plot with people for revenge in the movie style cliché rather than the better motive in the Olympus movie. But the twists in this plot were better I thought.

I would give this movie a higher rating if it wasn't for a few key moments that were complete rubbish 1. Emily (daugher of bodyguard Mike/Tatum) would really have been put all over the news when shes a hostage putting her in danger???? 2.Not blowing a hole in the fence with a tank to get the limo out rather than getting tank stuck on it 3.The air strike was called off because of a flag being waved 4. Crowds beside the army and then the army not pushing them back when the air strike was coming in 5. Why did he not force the president to put his hand on the briefcase for the missiles? that was really stupid 6.This happened over a veeeery small amount of time including travel 7. Last minutes before air strike would have taken a lot longer than the 8 minutes that we were told were left (The air strike was bs in other words) 8. No hostages died

I also have to say that towards the end of the movie Emily was one of the most annoying character ever worse than Carl from the Walking Dead

This movie was set out to be cheesy Olympus has fallen was set out to be a serious action thriller

White house down did a better job of what it set out to be and it was much more enjoyable
