In 1980s Tyneside accountant Freddie Musgave (Colin Buchanan) has exceeded his dreams he is in a successful partnership with the clever and wily Maggie Hewitt (Clare Higgins) and women love him but it all threatens to be ruined by the arrival of old face Mr Freeman (Terence Hillyer). As a child Freddie used to smuggle drugs to Rod Gallagher's house The Towers across the river. until one night. Gallagher's first wife lies in labour screaming before Freddie that he is not the father of her child incensed Gallagher orders the child is drowned and sends Freddie away. Two years later Freddie returns the towers to deliver more drugs to Gallagher and a large quantity of diamonds but during the transaction the police show up and Freddie is hidden in the secret attic where he finds the child belle who he witnessed be born. Without thinking he runs away with her closely followed by Rod Gallagher but during the course of the evening Gallagher is killed and his diamonds and money are robbed from him. Now Freeman wants the diamonds and is convinced Freddie has them, but Freddie has more important things on his mind his fellow ward Belle (Hannah Yelland) the child he saved has fallen in love with handsome and wealthy Marcel Birkstead (Stephen Moyer) but things don't sit right and Maggie is forced to tell her two wards that the Belle and Marcel may share the same the father pressed by Belle to find out the truth Freddie visits the former maid of Gallagher's house Connie Wheatley (Elizabeth Carling) and learns Belles mother had an affair resulting in Belle. Delighted, Marcel and Belle marry despite Freddies bad feeling but soon Belle is worried, her new husbands behaviour is erratic and alarmingly worrying and he is away from home on business frequently . Meanwhile Freddie is arrested for the murder of Rod Gallagher prompting a dying Maggie to tell the truth of what happened that night forcing the authorities to release her ward. Following the loss of Maggie, Belle begins to feel totally isolated at The Towers even more so when she is assaulted by her husband and she begs Freddie to rescue her but Freddie has just found out Marcel's secret. A secret that means that both he and Belle are in danger. Can he get to her in time?

Niamh Cusack takes centre stage in this adaptation of Catherine Cooksons Colour Blind. When Bridget Mcqueen (Niamh Cusack )returns home to her native Newcastle with her new husband(Tony Armatrading)her family are delighted until they discover hes black!.

The McQueen family go out of the way to pick fault with the marriage but when Bridget reveals she is pregnant the McQueens have no choice but to accept the marriage. The family are ostracised and Bridget avoids her racist family. But seaman James has to work away and when he is gone Matt (Bob Cryer) the family bully visits Bridget to "arrange" a miscarriage. During her pregnancy James keeps a close eye on Bridget but before the baby can be born he is called away again leaving Matt free to barge round to a heavily pregnant Bridget's house once more. but during the Bridgets labour her mother Kathie McQueen (Derbollah Malloy) has summoned Nellie Milligan to operate on Bridget and arrange for the baby to stillborn if it is black. But before the deed can be done, Bridget gives birth to a baby girl who she and James calls Rose Angela. The year's pass and Bridget and James live quietly rarely seeing friends accept for Tonythe orphan th McQueens took in who is secretly in love with Bridget but one night things come to a head Matt McQueen, still despising the young Rose-Angela and her father as much as ever, picks a fight with James, a fight which sees James almost kill Matt. Fearing for himself James runs away to sea leaving Bridget and snatching Rose-Angela until Tony persuades him to let her go. The Racial abuse continues in the second part of the story as a grown up Rose-Angela (Carmen Edjoba) works in service as a house maid but after tiring of being thought of as a mere whore she leaves and secures a job working as a housekeeper for an eccentric painter Micheal Stanhope (James Larkin) and the two fall in love but when things are shaken up with the return of James whose friend Hassan(Art Mallik)later confesses to Rose-Angela that he too is in love with her. Torn by her need to care for her dying father and her love for Micheal, Rose Angela must find a way to be with the man she loves despite the wagging tongues.

She is also secretly in love with Miles Sutherland a prominent politician and the two are deep in a passionate affair but it is threatened when Christina drops a bombshell on her lover that she is pregnant. Determined to keep the baby, Christina is delighted to have her lovers support but she is involved in a car crash which causes her to miscarry. Christina throws herself into her work in a bid to help her cope but she can't forget about her lost baby nor the fact that she increasingly has to share Miles with his controlling wife baby survive?

David Suchet returns as Belgian supersluth Hercule Poirot in this new adaptation of the Agatha Christie novels. Whilst at a party Poirot discovers that Ruth, the honourable Mrs Derek Kettering is wearing a very infamous and priceless jewel, a Ruby called the heart of fire brought for her by her devoting father, Rufus Van Aldin, who confides to Poirot he wants his daughter to divorce her husband because he is not good enough for his little girl and later ties to bribe Kettering not to contest any divorce proceedings which Derek refuses infuriating Val Aldin. Meanwhile at dinner Poirots eager eyes notice a pretty young woman staring at a wine waiter with a confused expression. Sensing that the woman is in need of assistance he intervenes the woman introduces herself as Katherine Grey, a young maid who has just been left a small fortune by an old woman she took care. Poirot offers to steer her through the trials and tribulations of a first class dinner and the two are delighted to discover they are bound for the same destination, Nice via the Blue Train. Once aboard Poirot acquaintances himself with the fellow passengers, the nice as nice Lady Tamplin, her husband Corky, and daughter Lenox, Count De La Roch and Ruth Kettering and her husband. As the train moves around Paris, Marseilles, and finally docking at Nice, the body of Ruth Kettering is found, murdered in a brutal fashion, her face smashed in. her priceless Ruby is also gone Poirot and the French detective investigate her death and discover Ruth had been having an affair with the slippery Count De La Roch. But more clues begin unfurl as Poirot and Miss Grey settle in at the villa Marguerite, the lavish Riviera home of Lady Tamplin. And it is only when Miss Grey is also nearly murdered do the question begin to answer themselves in Poirots mind.

Helen Mirren leads an all-star cast in this new TV drama chronicling the later life of the virgin Queen. Set as a two parter spanning two consecutive nights this lavish serial offers a different side to the private and public affairs of the Tudor Queen. The story starts with the aged Elizabeth cavorting with one of her favourites the dashingly handsome Earl of Leicester, (Jeremy Irons) but whilst she loves him she must oblige her councillors by entertaining the French Duke of Anjou as a potential husband. Pushed by her officials Lord Burghley (Ian McDiarmid) and Sir Francis Walsingham (Patrick Malahide). Whilst Elizabeth finds herself warming to the Duke, Leicester, seething with jealousy plots to rid the country of his love rival despite having secretly married his pregnant lover, the Lady Essex. When the Queen discovers the truth she banishes him from her court. Seven years later, troubles from abroad and from her imprisoned cousin, the catholic Mary of Scots (Barbara Flynn), force her to recall her shamed Leicester,who has since lost the child he risked his love for and isstuck in loveless marriage. The pair quickly fall back into each other's arms but Elizabeth's resolve is shaken when Leicester's stunningly handsome stepson Lord Essex (Hugh Dancy) arrives to accompany his father to the Netherlands. The weeks pass and as further threats from Spain persist Leicester, Essex and the Queen herself go to battle. The second instalment sees Elizabeth, robbed of her precious Leicester and fighting her obvious attraction to the handsome Lord Essex whose arrogance and position grow as the film progresses. She succumbs to her love for him, granting him money and power on her council. But whilst Essex had all he wants there is still one thing he is determined to have- the Queen. Amused at his ambitions the Queen distances herself from her favourite and focuses on conspiracies from her enemies, without the help of of her most trusted advisors Walsingham and Burghley who havesince died. But the culprit is closer to home then she might think. Now it is going to take all her fighting spirit, willpower, and men to calm the fears of the people and seize the powerful traitor and wait for her glorious ending.

The legendary Spanish hero Zorro rides again in this long awaited sequel to the 1998 classic. Ten years have passed since Alejandro was recruited to replace the famous legend clothed in black. Now he is married to his predecessor's daughter Elena and has a son Joaquin (Adrian Alonso) but his life is not so content. Elena is neglected and worries that her husband and son are drifting apart and when Alejandro abandons her in the middle of argument to play the hero Zorro again she has enough and months later Alejandro is stunned to find his wife has sought a divorce. Determined to let to let her come to her senses Alejandro bides time in signing the papers convinced it is a test. His theories are shattered however, at a wine tasting ceremony he sees his wife on the arm of the handsome young Count Armand (Rufus Sewell) he is heartbroken to find that Elena has moved on and is a budding relationship with Armand and he goes out of his way to show him up. But as the relationship between Armand and Elena blossoms and marriage is discussed a startling revelation forces the de la Vegas back together to protect California and save its dreams of joining the united states. Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta Jones shine as the warring partners in the film but the main star of the show has got to be young Adrian Alonso who is just superb as Joaquin de la Vega, the young son of Alejandro & Elena. This sequel is not to be missed and look out for some funny anecdotes form Tornado Zorro's Horse.

Working Girl (1988)

Melanie Griffith stars in this quirky comedy about a secretary who steals her boss's job after her job idea is stolen. Tess McGill (Melanie Griffith) a pretty hardworking young women has just turned thirty and with no sign of her career heading the way she wants it she changes her job and becomes a secretary to successful corporate high flier Katherine Parker (Sigourney Weaver). Pleased that her ideas are received and appreciated Tess thinks her career might actually head the way she wants it, until her boss injures herself and Tess is asked to collect some things. Whilst in her bosses apartment Tess comes across her idea for Trask, a big business that is in trouble, she is thrilled until she realises Katherine plans to use her idea and uses as her own. Incensed Tess plots revenge and places herself in Katherine's office and goes to see the head of Trask and puts her idea to him with the help of financial consultant Jack Trainer (Harrison Ford) who Tess is soon repressing feelings for. Things are made complicated however when Tess discovers Jack is Katherine's lover- the man she wants to and is certain she will marry. But can Tess complete the lucrative deal without Katherine finding out and if she does what will the future have in store for her both professionally and romantically.

Shakespeare in Love (1998)

As hard to Forget as Romeo and Juliet Itself

This 1998 Oscar winning film projects a fictional theory of how legendary writer William Shakespeare came up with his greatest work Romeo and Juliet. It is the late 1500's and William Shakespeare (Joseph Fiennes) a young writer in Elizabethan England has what can only be describe as a bad case of writers block his latest play Romeo and Ethel the pirates daughter is lacking in enthusiasm and energy. Short of cash Will desperately needs to find inspiration to finish his play. And it comes in a very unlikely form. The wealthy daughter a local knight, Lady Viola De Lesseps (Gwyneth Paltrow). At a party hosted by her father, Viola and Will lock eyes and are instantly smitten prompting Will to turn out of one of his most promising plays to date. The pages are soon written, Romeo and Ethel soon becomes Romeo and Juliet and casting and rehearsals begin under the careful eye of Wills patron Philip Henslowe (Geoffrey Rush) but what the stars don't know is that the boy cast is Romeo is Viola in disguise fulfilling her dream to be an actress. As the play progress and Will and Violas love deepens, the villainous Lord Wessex (Colin Firth) claims Viola for his bride. Feeling the need to comply with her father's wishes, Viola agrees to marry Wessex forcing Will to write the rest of his story with broken heart but will fate and the will of the Queen (Judi Dench) find Wills favour and can this story have a happy ending that the comedy loving English public love? Amazing Light and hilariously funny this film offers both moments of severity coupled with laughter and is indeed as hard to forget as Romeo and Juliet itself.

Pearl Harbor (2001)

A Film That Will Live in Memory

Pearl Harbour is the modern day tale based on the shocking and devastating attack on the small Hawaiian island early on the Sunday morning of December 7th 1941. Based on the life of two childhood pals Rafe McCauley (Ben Affleck) and Danny Walker (Josh Hartnet) the lads have a dream of flying real fighter pilots and with a the second world war approaching America looks like its going to have need all of its best pilots. Rafe, the charismatic and outgoing of the two lads has just met and fallen for a beautiful nurse Evelyn (Kate Beckinsale) but his desire to be a proper fighter pilot has just become reality when he offered the chance to go to England. Determined to go Rafe leaves behind a pained Evelyn but when word comes through that Rafes plane has been shot down Rafe is pronounced dead. As time passes and military and technical training intensify Danny comes more and more into Evelyn's life. Bonded by their loss of Rafe and a sense of alonement the two are soon lovers. Theire happiness however is short lived when Rafe turns up alive and well rescued from a watery grave from a French fisherman. Torn by her reborn love for Rafe and her newfound love for Danny, Evelyn is thrown into emotional turmoil. Rafe meanwhile is disgusted that whilst he has been presumed dead Danny has been sleeping with his girlfriend and the two clash violently but on the morning of December 7th the two are thrown together when the Japanese air pilots drop massive bombs on the small island of pearl harbour. Recognising their potential, Rafe and Danny's boss Colonel Doolittle (Alec Baldwin) assigns them to a top-secret mission and offers them an opportunity to be the pilots they have always dreamed of being. Unable to stand by and watch Danny and Evelyn together Rafe immediately joins along with Danny but Evelyn cannot let him go and when she explains why to a shocked Rafe he tries to persuade Danny to stay but will the boys come home, both to Evelyn and will Danny ever find out her reason from trying to prevent him from accepting his mission. With outstanding special effects and love story to touch even the most frosted of hearts, Pearl Harbour is a classic wartime film that, like the attacks will linger.

My Family (2000–2011)

Hilarious Comedy !!!

This hilarious comedy offers a truly honest insight the daily life of a typical middle-class family. Robert Lindsay is at his comical best as Ben Harper, a grumpy middle-aged dentist who has great difficulty holding onto a dental assistant, whilst Zoë Wanamaker is his witty and waspish wife, a woman with the deluded notion that she is a fantastic cook which the entire Harper family do theire best to try and get out of eating. The real star of this sitcom is the eldest son Nick played to perfection by Kris Marshal. In his early twenties Nicks main objective is to lie around the house floating from one dead end job to another much to his father continued annoyance. Deniela Denby-Ashe is the harpers middle child Janey, shallow and obsessed with fashion she will use anyone to get what she wants even if it means hurting her hopelessly devoted boyfriend Stupid Brian. At the bottom of the pack is the runt of the litter, little Micheal Harper geeky, and bright. He is determined to become the next prime minister, but Michael's main weakness is women- something he has no clue about and tries to rectify with hilarious consequences.

Set at the time of Edward the Longshanks the story starts as a young William Wallace leaves his highlands home after the death of his father and brother at the hands of English soldiers. The greedy English king (Patrick McGoohan) has claimed the throne of Scotland for himself as the last king died without an heir. The Scots believe that the next king is there own noble Robert the Bruce (Angus Mcfadyen) Years later William Wallace returns a man, handsome brooding and daring. He quickly makes his mark on his old formidable friends and neighbours and is instantly smitten with the local beauty Murron (Catherine McCormack). But in order to marry Murron he will have submit to Longshanks orders that every common girl inhabiting lands is married the local English noble will have sexual rights to her. In deepest secrecy the couple marry keeping their union form even their close families. But when Murron is murdered by a local English sheriff William wreaks his revenge in a bloody battle that was to make him famous and unites the all the Scottish nobles in a bid to battle the English and gain their freedom. But as battles and are won and lives are lost William grows increasingly closer to danger avoiding death and traps set by Longshanks William finds an unlikely ally in the form of Longshanks daughter-in-law Princess Isabella, the Princess of Wales (Sophie Marceau), a beautiful woman trapped in loveless marriage to the homosexual Prince Edward. But as the Scots gain advantage William is summoned to a meeting of utmost secrecy by Robert the Bruce to his Edinborough castle the English capture him and take him to England to trial for treason.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)

Deliciously Funny

Johnny Depp is at his eccentric best in this modern day rework of the classic story of an eccentric candy chocolatier. In the role that launched Gene Wilder to stardom Johnny Depp portrays the painfully shy Willy Wonka with ease in this hilarious family comedy After twenty years Willy Wonka decides to open up his world famous chocolate factory to five lucky children in the hope that he can secretly groom one of them into becoming his heir and he must chose from Violet Beauregarde (Anna Sophia Robb) a tough talking tomboy, Veruca Salt (Julia Winter) a spoilt daddy's girl, Mike Teavee (Jordan Fry) a electronic games obsessive, Augustus Gloop (Philip Wiegratz) a large and glutinous boy, and Charlie Bucket (Freddie Highmore) a quiet and destitute boy.Each in turn the children find that theory temptations overcome there senses as they succumb to the tests that's rule them out of the succession leaving the delighted Charlie to inherit the factory but on one condition. He must give up the family he adores so much. But will he forsake his family for a lifetime of candy?Freddie Highmore proves that he has both the emotional and physical talent to carry off such a demanding role as he portrays the sweet Charlie Bucket to perfection and also Deep Roy gives a hilarious performance as the factory main hand Oompa Loompa. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is definitely one of Tim Burtons finest films but also one of the most memorable.

Troy (2004)

Grecian Masterpiece

Brad Pitt dons a skirt and ripping muscles to become the hero warrior Achilles in this lavish action film. With nearly all the kingdoms of Greece united under his rule, greedy Agamemnon is hungry for his next battle, whilst over in Sparta his brother Menelaus, who is weary of battle is in negotiations with the two princes of Troy, Hector (Eric Bana) and Paris (Orlando Bloom) to bring peace between theire two nations. But unbeknown to them, young Paris is secretly bedding the Queen of Sparta, the beautiful Helen (Diane Kruger). When he persuade her to run away with him a humiliated Menelaus runs to his brother to help him raise an army to defeat the great Trojan army. Soon all the warriors of Greece are sailing for the Trojan beach including a reluctant Achilles who is becoming a liability to Agamemnon his distain for his rule is causing his concern. Victory comes soon for the Greeks as they easily take the Trojan beech but there trademark resilience is threatening to cost the Greeks heavily, until they come up with a idea that will have devastating repercussions for the Trojans and create a legend.

Without doubt one of the greatest motion picture movies ever, about one of the greatest disasters in history. It is the present day and obsessive Titanic architect Brock Lovett (Bill Paxton) is with his deep dive underwater crew just above the dormant wreck of the Titanic, for three years Lovett has been searching for a blue diamond that belonged to a passenger But when he finds the safe and it is brought to surface he is devastated to discover artistic drawing of a beautiful young woman, but no jewels. Meanwhile miles away an elderly woman (Gloria Stewart) sits at a table pottering when she sees the Lovett news report, her name is Rose Calvert. Rose immediately calls Brock identifying herself as the woman in the picture and within days she joins the Lovett crew. She tells them all of her journey on the Titanic and love affair that changed her life. Bringing the past vividly back to life. April 1912 and on the docks at Southampton people from all nations look as the world famous cruiser Titanic sets sail on her maiden voyage. On board, in one of the most exclusive staterooms is the privileged and beautiful Rose Dewitt Bukater, (Kate Winslet) spoilt and suicidally depressed, her world is thrown into turmoil when a handsome stranger, Jack Dawson (Leonardo Di Caprio) from the third class saves her life. Against all social standings and rules, Rose and Jack embark on passionate affair that seemed doomed from the first kiss, and as danger approaches in different ways Rose and Jack and the passengers on the unsinkable ship face a furious battle for survival. The winner of 11 Oscars, Titanic is the one great movie that allows the world to recreate the class, beauty, and horror that took place early on in the morning on April 15, 1912.

Rather then give it up, the Queen holds the garlic close and Henry orders the marriage annulled, prompting his close ministers Cromwell (Kenneth Williams) and Wolsey (Terry Scott) to battle it out together. But when it revealed the Queen is pregnant, a hilarious battle of wit and trust degenerates into lust and blackmail. And when a pretty lady (Barbara Windsor) enters Henrys court he makes up his mind to marry her, with hilarious consequences. Although skimpy on facts this comedy is definitely one of the top three from the legendary Carry On crew, which will have you rolling in laughter for years.

Alex Kingston stars in the gritty dram about the formidable Iceni queen Boudica.

No longer being able to bear the pain of seeing the woman he loves with another man Dervalloc sets off across the waters away from his passionate Queen, convinced she is content with her King and two children But Boudica has a lot to be unhappy about. As wife to King Prasutagus of the Iceni tribe, she sees her fierce husband shamed before Rome's greedy onslaught. Prasutagus accepts a treaty that preserves his tribe's independence but at the cost of high taxes. When he dies mysteriously, Boudica becomes the Iceni leader but allegiance to her is not all one sided. Depraved Roman captain Catus shows the spirited queen a copy of her husbands will which leave half of his kingdom to the roman empire.

Convinced the will is a forgery Boudica battles to bring her people away from the slavery that is Rome and attempts to conquer the very powerful roman empire with tragic consequences.

Amanda Bynes and Colin Firth star in this quirky and hilarious comedy about an up and coming politician and his secret daughter.

When she decides she can longer go without the father she never knew, seventeen-year-old Daphne (Amanda Bynes) hops on a lane to London leaving behind the devoted mother (Kelly Preston) who has raised her single handedly- the only problem is her father, Lord Henry Dashwood (Colin Firth) is a potential replacement for the Prime Minster and the scandal could cost him the election.

Despite all his ministers expectations Henry attempts to groom his new daughter into the ways of social society, despite attempts from his snobby fiancée Glynnis (Anna Chancellor) and her bitchy daughter Clarissa (Christina Cole) to scupper any chances of her success.Aided by both Henry and his mother Jocelyn (Eileen Atkins) Daphne begins to make waves in the social circuit and as she struggles to conform to the image that is expected of her, there is huge bombshell for both Daphne and her mother.

Upon the death of her fiancé Raoul, his father Athos, (John Malkovich) a former Musketeer of the Kings regiment, declares revenge on the selfish King who allowed his precious son to die and so recruits his two former trusted comrades Porthos (Gérard Depardieu) Aramis (Jeremy Irons) to replace their King with his identical twin brother, Philippe. (Also played by DiCaprio) Who has been locked away deep in a dungeon, his face enclosed in a steel mask. Its "all for one and one for all" as the Musketeers face a race against time to train Philippe to become Louis and rid their country of the King they all despise.

Clemence Posey stars as the young and beautiful Mary, Queen of Scots in this thrilling tale of murder, deceit and religion. Upon the death of her mother the young Mary travels back to her homeland of Scotland from France after 13 years in exile. Discovering that her religion is considered evil Mary tries to allow Catholics and Protestants to worship in there own way unbeknown to her, her half brother Lord James is conspiring with Mary's rival, the Protestant Elizabeth 1st to plan Mary's downfall and replace her as King of Scotland.

When Mary marries the English, and powerful Lord Darnley, James begins to fear for his ambitions even more, when Mary becomes pregnant, and with the birth of her son, the future King James. Lord James realise his plans are destroyed.

With her marriage becoming tempestuous and violent Mary seeks solitude away from her violent husband in the arms of her faithful guard Bothwell, a move which was to become her downfall, for the sake of her son Mary places herself in the hands of her enemy and abdicates.

The series picks up again around 20 years later with James VI ruling Scotland and awaiting the death of the English Queen Elizabeth so he can claim her crown, when he does ascend to the throne all seems well, the people welcome him and except that they have a Protestant King, what he doesn't count on is a group of powerful Catholics, determined he will not destroy their faith and set to blowing up Parliament and the King. Learning of the plan James enlists the help of his adviser, the questionable Lord Cecill and his ill-fated spy Lady Margaret, to identify Guy Fawkes and his group and bring them to justice.

Henry VIII (2003 TV Movie)

A Male Dominated Society

Ray Winstone leads an all-star cast in this tale of male dominance and religious importance. Henry VIII has been on the throne for fifteen years. He and his devoted Spanish wife, Catherine of Aragon, (Assumpta Serna) rule a rich and powerful England. But behind the happy smiling faces lie a couple deemed by tragedy. Henry is becoming impatient with his wife of fifteen years; her inability to produce a male heir has him worried. So when he meets the flighty young Anne Boleyn, (played to perfection by Helena Bonham Carter) his determination for a male heir becomes an obsession, convinced Anne will give him the heir he craves, he risks the wrath of his people and his catholic faith, to divorce his catholic Queen, and marry his protestant lover, which once again results with only a daughter. This failure was to cost the young Queen Anne her life, as she was executed on a trumped up charge of treason.

Just as it seems life cant get any better for Henry with the birth of a third child, a healthy son (later Edward VII) with third wife Jane Seymour, (Emilia Fox) tragedy strikes, which was to ultimately lead to the downfall and eventual death of the tyrannical monarch. With an exceptional supporting cast including Mark Strong, Sean Bean, David Suchet, Charles Dance, and the up and coming Emily Blunt as Henrys fifth Queen, Catherine Howard. This tale brings history to life with Henrys determination for a male heir, and the belief that only a male monarch could rule England, without bringing the country to destruction.
