300: Rise of an Empire (2014)
Watch at your own risk
300 wasn't exactly stellar cinema to begin with, but it was tolerable. The sequel takes everything that was good about the original and throws it in the trash. There are long, boring speeches that go on and on about this so-called "freedom" that they seem to be doing a generally bad job protecting. And the in-movie and previous film flashbacks are annoying.
Frankly, the only redeeming feature was Eva Green, but even her character is a bit hollow and cartoon-ish at times. The sex scene, though fantastic (like seriously), was otherwise unnecessary and completely contrary to the character.
Doctor Who: Nightmare in Silver (2013)
Gaiman continues to impress with crazy, innovative plots
First, having written an episode as critically acclaimed as The Doctor's Wife, it can be hard on someone to match-up to it. Neil Gaiman took the challenge on, adding plenty of his trademark mind-blowing moments. I don't see why anyone should compare his previous episode with this one simply because they tackle two completely different aspects of the Doctor- the last one was his relationship with the TARDIS, this one is more about the complexities of his own mind (proving again that his worst enemy is himself).
Moving on, I think the best moment of the episode was the conflict between the Cyber Planner and the Doctor. Matt Smith carried-off the instantaneous switches in character brilliantly, though it did get a little tedious toward the end. We got to see a whole new side of Clara- that she is not just an adorable, clever person but also someone who can get things done if worked into a corner. As for the kids, there has been a lot of annoyance among the fans, but remember: they are just teenagers. A majority of teenagers are like that.

The Passion of the Christ (2004)
Gore Fest
I basically resisted watching this movie for as long as I could (evident from the fact that this review is 9 years late). And thank God for that. If I had watched this when it released, I would have been sick for about 90% of the movie. Pornographic: the critics did not exaggerate when they described this film.
Anyway, on to the review. I expected the film to have more power. I was disappointed. Most of the character-building was weak, and I found myself unmoved by most of it. The two most important scenes: the crucifixion of Christ and his subsequent resurrection had almost no impact. The prevalent feeling throughout was a slight stomach-churning (particularly when He was being whipped. Seriously, that Governor just made things worse by prolonging His suffering, that jerk).
The positives: I liked certain scenes- when Mother Mary runs to her son (paired with the flashback), when the earthquake strikes. The portrayal of the Devil was also intriguing- and should've been explored further (I have my own theories about that).
All in all, it was just bearable. I wouldn't watch it again.
Doctor Who: The Snowmen (2012)
What in the world...?
The Doctor is back! I admit, I did not expect too much out of this Christmas Special, particularly after last year's disappointment. The Moffinator gave us a mish-mash of crowd-pleasers, from the nod to Sherlock (the fangirl in me died in ecstasy), to the blazing chemistry between Eleven and his to-be companion (River Song will be so displeased). What 'The Snowmen' lacked was a strong story (and the antagonists weren't scary at all), which quite evidently took a backseat to Clara's. This one essentially works not as a self-sufficient Christmas Special, but rather as an introduction to what we can expect from the rest of the series, specifically the intriguing connection between Oswin from Asylum of the Daleks and Clara.
