The Outfit (2022)
Wasn't sure if it's great or stupid... I think I love it.
Saw this on a plane as there's limited content to watch.
The Outfit is one of those random gems that seemingly come out of nowhere.
Feeling a stage play, the film stays in one location as a line of characters enter and exit. Some very fleshed out and believable, others, cartoon characters of overdone cliches.
But it's so much fun! Mark Rylance was wonderful, as he always is. Every line, every scene, I was fixed on him. The plot is fairly simple and the twists and turns at times laughably silly. But like I said, if you don't take the film too seriously it's a joy from start to finish.
Check it out, if not for the beautiful suits alone.
Mr. Midnight: Beware the Monsters (2022)
Great fun from start to finish.
Aimed at younger teens but Mr Midnight has something for everyone. We watched it with the family and all really enjoyed it.
It's a lot of cheesy fun with genuinely hilarious and spooky moments. I especially liked learning about Indonesian/Singaporean folk tales. A different world which gave quite a new and refreshing take on the monster/teen adventure genre.
The cast were great, the monster designs were AWESOME! Just a really fun ride from start to finish.
Maybe it's a little cheesy and goofy, but nothing wrong with that from time to time.
I recommend it if you're looking for a new show. I wasn't familiar with the books beforehand.
