It had such promise....
19 November 2006
I really wanted to like this movie. A film with zombie children getting out of a mine to kill people at night really seemed like a great idea for a horror film. Unfortunately, the film was in the bottom 3 of films played at horror fest.

A mother and her two daughters attempt to move on after her husband/father had passed away from an illness that cost their family a lot of money. They have to adapt to their new environment. They end up struggling due to all the surroundings for different reasons.(Crazy Zombie kids go into this category) The film never gives any sentimental attachment for anyone that lives or dies, the film produces no scares or jump worthy moments, the film barely shows the children doing what they're supposed to do...Kill! With a bigger budget and a better cast this film could have hope. Until then, pass on it.

3.5/10 actually.

Unrest (I) (2006)

Most fun I've had with a horror film in a long time...
17 November 2006
A group of medical students learn a lesson about respecting the dead, and never underestimate anything, for the soul could've been left behind. Solid performances from all the new comers make this more of a roller coaster ride and a great low budget experience. A pretty good director as well, signs of real potential with this director with his first full length feature film.

There isn't a lot more to say...A movie like Unrest isn't meant to be taken seriously. If you look at it as a horror film to make you cringe then you'll love it...Don't compare it to horror film greats and take it like it is.

Watch Unrest.

Absolutely Awful
26 July 2006
Think back...remember how M. Night's movies throw you off by giving you a crazy ending or an unlikely outcome. Usually leaving you severely disappointed...Well, this movie for a change doesn't have one of the key aspects. It doesn't have the part of the movie that makes sense and that is enjoyable. This movie is the disappointment ending of the village and unbreakable for almost two hours. The film is filled with cheesy dialogue, unlikely scenarios (everyone in the building believing in this water land fiasco) and last but not least...a plot that isn't horrible. M. Night has skills as a director, you can tell by the way the film looks.....But nothing on two feet could've made such a silly screenplay into a work of art...Narfs, evil monkey like creatures with sticks in their heads, guilds, guardians, healers... Ignore all positive reviews, because this movie sucks.

Slither (2006)

Big Budget B-movie at its best
8 April 2006
Slither is hands down the surprisingly good film of '06 so far. I haven't had this much fun watching a movie in a few years. Slither definitely will make you laugh, make you feel uneasy, and make you say "What the hell?" at least a dozen times. Everything is well executed and although it may not do well at the box office (12 million tops I'd say) This film has the potential to be the next Shaun of the dead.

Also, you get to see the next Bruce Campbell (Nathan Fillion)put on a damn good performance. It would be a damn shame to see him leave this genre. He will be the next icon for goofy sci-fi/horror movies.

Go See Slither.

Decent flick for what it is....

Kind of steers away from original ideas in the first film....

It didn't tie the "Smells your fear" stuff that the old black lady said in the first movie...The idea of a monster spotting you for the sheer fact it smells what you are afraid of propelled the first one. Avoiding that really didn't leave a mark for the 2nd film.

In any case, the first Creepers movie was made to build a story for a monster movie to remember....Which it still comes up short of a monster movie's greatness (7/10 tops) it at least had story and explained how the creature works.

Jeepers Creepers 2 was for the sole purpose of getting a bunch of teens on a bus and having the monster terrorize.....I guess that is cool, but at least follow every aspect of the story to magnify the horror of the film. Entertaining seeing struggle of teens, but falls short of the original due to lack of writing.
