Under the Dome (2013)
Love it!
Heard of this series yesterday and watched 5 episodes in one go, lost track of time and before I knew it, it had gone 3 (AM)! I love it! I haven't read the book, so don't know what changes have been made. I don't really get the criticism on the acting or story. The series had me on the edge of my seat for hours, isn't that what a show is about, entertainment? Sure they could've tried to communicate with the outside world using a white-board or blackboard. But to be honest, I've seen bigger flaws in other series. I find the concept of the dome intriguing, if you find it totally unbelievable something like that could happen, why start watching a series with this topic, I wonder. It's pretty clear what it's about from the word go. Maybe it's one of these series that you either love or hate. I love it!
Cracked (2013)
Very disappointing
I watched a few episodes, but it's not worth the time. Story line is awful, acting is awful. The male character doesn't make sense at all, the female psychologist clearly missed half of her psychology classes. Even I as a coach, seem to have better understanding of the human psyche. As said by someone else, indeed weird that an actor like Colantoni accepted a role in the series (2nd episode). Guess this was arranged before it became clear how awfully bad the series would turn out to be. And speak of the devil, isn't this a rip-off of Flashpoint? Sort of similar concept, talk before you shoot, the psychological approach. Don't waste your time on it, there's plenty of good series around!
The Bridge (2013)
Disappointing
I thought I'd found a good action / police series, but couldn't make it past the first 15 minutes without nearly falling asleep. Diane Kruger's acting may be good if she's supposed to portrait an Asperger's, but that isn't made clear. To be honest, it simply comes across as horribly bad acting and who wants to watch a badly acted show? Maybe Hollywood should just leave (European) Danish shows to the (Europeans) Danish. I thought the US version of the killing was equally void of that particular 'buzz' a good show should have. It's similar to translating a German rock song into English: it loses its impact and power. So just don't go there.
Falling Skies (2011)
Absolute great show!
Love this show! Good story, great cast. Has had me on the edge of my seat for nearly 3 seasons now and can't wait for season 4! An extra thumbs up for Connor Jessup (Ben Mason) who, at age 19, is an actor, writer, producer (!). Great actor at that! The show paints a good picture of the aftermath of alien invasion. The struggle of mankind to survive, build up new communities whilst fighting the aliens. In the end cooperating with alleged good aliens to survive. The dynamics between people, groups, bonding between people who would normally never bond. I think they are doing an excellent job with this series. Just keeps getting better and deeper each season.
